Chapter 7 - The Children With Curious Cases Compound

In one very early morning, the breeze blows and shivers even the sturdiest legs. These legs were stretched like the finest cheese. Jumping jacks, squats and various more exercises were performed within a confined cabin in the woods.

Behind the mountains and surrounded by pine, it was almost the perfect secret training facility. Except it wasn't a training facility, it was an orphanage. Or what the flyers said, a compound.

Heavily guarded, all with God's eyes 24/7/365. The fences are so high, they may not even classify as fences.

"You are here because you are special and special children have special needs. Only we can provide these needs. Your parents, guardians or whatever have entrusted us with your safety and well-being. So, if you have a problem about being here, blame them. Not us and most definitely not yourselves. Why you may ask? Because you are SPECIAL."

That eerie opening speech was delivered by an old widower with hair possibly whiter than the mountains on winter. She dons a long-sleeved shirt and a dress representing the 'ol Victorian fashion trend.

At the moment, no child has dared to look her in the eye despite her cheerful demeanor. It could be from her dreaded voice, but who knows?

"I hope Fabian didn't tire you that much with the exercises. We still have a lot of activities for the rest of the day. Aren't you all excited?"

"Ding, ding, ding" the bell says.

All the children stood up right after.

"Very good. You're all fast learners." the teacher-like figure tells them.

The first person from the left of the blackboard inside this classroom-like setting was called.

"Jack Zathura. You're first up." the woman tells him. She then proceeds to take his hand outside.

"Do not even dare going outside or make a ruckus inside." she tells the class one last time as she firmly closes the wooden door.

Another door opening was heard from inside the class, but it seemed to be from a metallic one. It sounded like it was really heavy and air can be heard exit the other side of that door when opened. The surveillance cameras from every side of the room kept twitching around. The discomfort can be seen on the children's faces.

At around 5 minutes one of them already started to cry. It was a chubby young boy with blonde hair. The girl sitting behind him puts her head at the desk and starts weeping as well. One other kid just started throwing tantrums and kept yapping about how he wants to go home and watch his cartoons or some shit like that. The tallest of them, a white boy in glasses just throws up in his seat.

A couple number of kids looked more confused than anyone around them. It seems that they can't understand English. It was a big fuckin' mess. All these children just waited inside for like a good 30 minutes tops until the old woman comes back in. She just smiled as she walks slowly and glances at them menacingly.

"Anna Clemmings. Up." the old woman calls out again.

The same thing happened. The woman brought her out and left the children in there to wait. The first one called didn't even return to his seat, but the second one did. The cycle continued until all of them went out of the room with the Headmaster. After the last child that has been called came back and sat down, there were a noticeable number of seats emptied.

"Alright, children. Our class today was a dry run to see if you do fit to be deemed special." the old woman explains.

The children were all silent.

"Oh, right. None of you remember anything today." she exclaims with another smile plastered on her face.

"Well my young children, the people here call me Headmaster Baskins. But you can all just simply call me, Headmaster." she joyously tells them.

The bell dinged thrice once more. The children then lined up to go out the room and to their sleeping quarters. The corridors they walked through looked like a normal one. It had a few other rooms but not one had a metal door.

One of the children was able to notice this. They all slept in bunker beds, donning their pajamas with a number on them. There were even more surveillance cameras inside.

"I remember everything." one child whispers to himself.

"Jack Zathura. Anna Clemmings. Margaret Hunsworth. Aryan Himmler, Juan dela Cruz..." the child went on and on, saying all the names of all the children called in order.

"Is it working Headmaster Fabian?" a man asks.

"We'll see." Headmaster Fabian replies as he looks at the live footage of the surveillance cameras.

Headmaster Fabian. A tall, bulky, pretty boy that seemed to have a lot going on inside his head. He had an awkward smile and always so full of himself. But if he had an important assignment, he'll treat it with the most upright commitment and concern. Which is why he was picked by his superiors to be the main head honcho of the facility, with six other headmasters directly below him. This includes Headmaster Baskins.

"Wires. They stick wires around my head. It hurts." the child continues to murmur.

"I... I can see a room. All white. I remember." he spoke out a little louder this time.

The boy beneath him took a peek as to what's going on above him. What the child saw is an area that is all white. It looked so different from anything else in the room. Like it was in its own area, its own world.

"These are three cameras, all branded. You can call them by name, since you are not allowed to move your hands and point. Now figure out which among these is mine?" a person in a lab coat asks.

"Ko... Ko... Kodak."

"Correct."

"Do you remember your name?"

"No."

"Great. You are now free. And now, you get to decide what your name should be."

The kid shakes and everything nearby him turned back into its original color. The other kid that was peeking screamed and fell on the floor. All the other kids woke up because of this, but didn't bother going up to help that kid.

The boy from above looked downwards and reached his arm to the kid on the floor.

A stick emerges from his palms, reaching to that kid on the floor. Its tip turned into a hand with its palm open and fingers reaching. The kid below then grabbed it. The kid above pulled back and helped the kid below to stand up.

"Thanks, man. Those are some cool abilities. I can only make a few pebbles float."

"I can touch the wind." a girl on the other bed says.

"I remember seeing my auntie's dreams." a boy from another bed says.

All the children started giving out introductions to each other.

An alarm was quickly activated and everyone was startled by it. They all then proceeded to sleep. The peculiar kid that remembers turned to tuck himself in the sheets. This gave him a brief glimpse of the ceiling. It had this long, thin hole. The kid then raises the stick he made and it merges with the ceiling, perfectly sealing that hole.

That Headmaster Fabian guy turns around from the screens and looks past the wall and through the sleeping quarters. An aura starts to get visible as he gets closer. It's coming from that child.

"Good job. You seem to have a way around children." Headmaster Fabian says.

"That is why I wanted children. Should've never doubted on your own wife." Headmaster Baskins says, as she telekinetically pushes Fabian towards her and smooches the fuck out of him.

They then became invisible and made out. Their clothes just fell from the ground. They may not be seen, but their ruckus is audible and can be felt on the ground. They are still in the surveillance room with three monitoring men but they didn't care. Headmaster Fabian is 26.

Now resting on a small bed after their love-making session, the two Headmasters deeply slept. Gazing on a distant fence wall is a familiar man in a trench coat. Now donning a slick mustache and a clean quiff.

"Good news Chief, they do have a transport. We'll set up camp and hope the rest of the leaks are true. The plan is to set up a trap and wait for them to bite it." a telepath scout says.

"The leak was misleading. I have a more reliable source of information right at my hands." the man says as he takes a good grip on a soldier's head.

Blood stains cover the soldier's face, along with a look of unconsciousness. The grip on her head tightens even more.

"Our first move must have a detrimental effect on their operations. At about 2:00am they will begin shipping. We will not wait for them to come to us. We'll come to them. We strike at dawn."
