Chapter 3

 Cupid's bullet.

Boonmi began to come to his senses slowly. Looking around the spacious cabin, there was Trey lying on one of the couches. All of his friend's clothes on his left side were soaked with blood. Raon tore at the wet fabric with vigor.

"Boss internal communication with the doctor is out," the driver reported.

"So what!? Has the phone been canceled? Or don't you know anything about it besides the porn viewing function?" - Raon yelled.

"Do you need help?" - Boonmi asked fearfully.

"You're specializing in surgery? Why the fuck do you only have one bodyguard on you? Don't you know the situation? They're hiring morons," the man's fierce glare scared the boy even more.

Vago, on the other hand, watched the situation calmly. He hadn't been frightened by gunshots or injuries for a long time. After assessing the situation, he had already realized that his heart wasn't hurt, which meant there was nothing to worry about. So he watched relaxedly, pondering who the kitten had crossed the road. Less than six months in the chair and already shooting.

"Trey, open your eyes and don't you dare close them or I'll kill you myself," Raon growled.

"Then yell quieter, please," the hoarse voice gave a frightened Boonmi hope.

Sighing heavily, the boy continued to watch the rival bodyguard save his best friend's life. He had never seen death this close before.

"Raon, hospital or home? The doctor's on the line. And what blood type? What's the approximate loss?" - Vien asked, who had taken over all communications.

"Vago?" - Raon glanced at the man.

"Wherever you say it goes," the man nodded.

"Vien, home, loss fuck knows, but my shirt is already completely wet, blood type two negative," the order was given with complete certainty of where to go.

"Wago," Boonmi called quietly to the man beside him.

With one look, the man made it clear that he might ask a question.

"How does he know his blood type?"

"I told you... you need to know everything about the people around you," Vago pronounced.

"There's a doctor at Anthyl," he heard in the momentary silence.

"Really? Didn't they put any brains in your anthill? Okay, this kid, but how did you let this happen?" - Raon scolded.

"Who gave you the right to talk to him like that and insult me? I'm just sitting here, you can tell me so," the offended kitten said indignantly.

The stare of the man across from him gave Boonmi a chill. The fierce fire in the blackness of his eyes did not warm in the slightest.

"Raon," Vago called calmly, "Leave him alone, everyone is alive."

The fact that this bear was not reacting in any way to the situation offended the boy. He pouted his lips and turned away to the window.

"I'll explain it to you later. You don't have to make that face. Are you a grown guy or a high school girl who didn't get taken to the movies?"

The car maneuvered at the maximum speed allowed in the evening traffic of the big city.

"Vago, either you tell this invalid to step on the gas pedal, or find yourself a new driver, for this one I will pick apart by DNA strands."

Seeing the head of security like this made one want to hide, or better yet, vaporize. The guy saw in his eyes the whole spectrum of emotions going on in his heart. There was rage and fear. Pain and even some despair bordering on care and sparks of love?

Boonmi instinctively moved toward Vago, practically pressing himself into him, feeling safer that way because the paler Trey's skin became, the crazier Raon's gaze became.

"Be patient mate, just a few more minutes and we'll hit the highway and it's quite close," Vien replied instead of his boss.

"Be patient? Are we in line for the urinal? I'll watch you wait for your hubby to get shot," the man roared.

Boonmi was sure, but just then he saw Trey's mouth twitch, apparently wanting to smile.

A short time later, the car pulled into a suburban cottage community. The kind often spun on TV channels, "Affordable and comfortable homes for all walks of life."

By the time the car pulled into the parking garage, they were already greeted by a doctor, subordinates, and a medical gurney. Raon carefully pulled out the already unresponsive Trey, shifting him onto a flat surface.

"Let's go, what's the big deal about the chair?" - Boonmi heard Vago's voice.

"Maybe I should go home. This place doesn't seem safe enough," the boy voiced fearfully.

"Hmmm, you're a rare boor, for sure," Vago grinned and headed for the exit of the garage.

"Come along Mr. Sansiri, no one will be looking for you here at the moment. Especially since the attackers know who you left with," Vien invited once more.

A frightened Boonmi followed the master of the house with a drooping head. The door from the garage led to a small but cozy living room. Stairs, several identical closed doors, panoramic doors - leading to the patio. It was just like the billboards for the perfect happy family home.

"You live here?" - The guy asked the man sprawled in the chair.

"Yes," Vago nodded.

"Isn't it scary? There's not even a guard at the entrance, anyone can come in," the guy raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"You want to hide it, put it in a prominent place," Vago replied, watching Boonmi.

"So small," Boon muttered to himself as he looked around the room.

He couldn't sit still from the emotions overwhelming him, so he walked over to the photo on the mantelpiece.

"Are those your parents?" - Pointing to the portrait of smiling people.

"No, those are Tana's parents," Vago shook his head.

"Her?" - Pointing to a picture of a beautiful girl standing in an embrace with Vago, "Is she your sister?" - The guy asked slyly, for he had seen this girl in the report before.

"Trey still hasn't done your homework with you? What are you wasting your precious time on? This is Rattana my fiancée."

Boonmi noticed that when the bear spoke of the girl, there was a glimmer of warmth in his eyes.

"She lives here?" - The guest wondered.

"Where else do you think she should live? She's my deputy on all fronts. Support and backbone."

"What do you mean, deputy?"

"In business, in dealing with relatives, in my wife's place, everywhere in general."

Boonmi still didn't understand what the man meant by referring to his lover that way.

"Then my being here is more than inappropriate, as soon as the operation is over, we will return to our own place."

"Very unlikely," the landlord chuckled, "Vasin!"

"Yes?" - immediately echoed the subordinate.

"Any information about what happened?"

"The news channels are reporting that Mr. Sansiri was attacked and injured, where that information came from I don't know yet. We're looking into it. The rest of the information is even more confusing, according to the captured mercenary and his phone data, Trey was the target," Vasin reported, and Boonmi only wondered how fast these people knew anything.

"Rest in peace to whoever did all this," Vago laughed.

"Things would have been simpler if the shooter hadn't claimed that according to their intel, Trey was the heir to the Enthil," Vasin continued.

Boonmi missed the bodyguard's last sentence and sat down on the couch, close to Vago.

"You promised to tell me about Trey and Raon. Why is your head of security acting like this?" - The boy asked curiously, catching the man's attention by placing a palm on the broad forearm of the man sitting in the chair.

"You really are blissfully ignorant, you know nothing not only about those you have to confront, but those around you. How long have you been with Trey?" - Vago mocked with pleasure.

"I was about sixteen... like... I don't know, what does it matter?" - Boonmi asked resentfully.

" It's just that this whole thing has been going on for about two years now, even longer."

Vago began to leisurely tell the boy what he knew himself:

Raon was actively helping his parents move to Bangkok from the provinces. He got his little sister into university and drove her around for the first time until she got used to it and made friends.

Every day he waited for her at a café across the street from the university. That's where he first met Trey. His appearance immediately said that the guy was a foreigner. At first, the man watched him from the sidelines, meeting him at the cafe a couple times a week.

The mysterious image of a foreigner who spent almost all his time in a tablet or computer, frowning his eyebrows and swearing in different languages, made Raon laugh and attracted him. So he decided to sit down with him at their next meeting, proposing an acquaintance.

Their meetings turned into rare dates, then Raon is on a business trip, then Trey drives you around the country. But, naturally, not one of them, could not on the clean confession who work. The man introduced himself as a small deputy for an unknown firm. And the guy was an exchange student. It's as if neither of them was lying, but neither was telling the truth.

After two months, both realized that their feelings had grown from the category of "Likes" and the meetings had gone from "innocent dates". The relationship was gaining momentum. Time was passing. Raon walked around glowing with happiness.

It all came crashing down one day when the truth came out. Vago didn't know who his friend had fallen in love with, he wasn't in the habit of invading the personal lives of those closest to him.

It was just another annual gathering of members of the shady business. The bosses were bringing in receivers whose age they thought was appropriate, someone useful whose contacts gave them the opportunity to expand their spheres of influence.

When Raon's gaze caught a painfully familiar name, it was when Ayson was introducing Trey as a member of the family and the man who would manage the Enthil staff as well as handle the small transactions. The two kept as far apart as possible, until Mr. Sansiri, decided to introduce the boy to Vago in person. The situation was as epic as possible. Boiling with rage and resentment they held on with their last strength.

In recent years, the Pattana and Sansiri families' companies had reached certain agreements on construction sites, and in the shadowy realm. Ayson was one of the central figures, and of course his position put Trey a level above Raon, despite the fact that each held equivalent positions in their own right.

Raon's mood had changed drastically after this party. He was blacker than a cloud, tearing up and tearing down, not allowing himself to get close to the guy. Vago found out about the situation a month after the party greeting. He just couldn't bear to see his friend like this anymore and on Tana's advice, he got his friend drunk and questioned him.

Vago genuinely didn't see the problem, but the lovers' personal beliefs prevented them from openly declaring their relationship. In the end, they decided that everything that had happened should be kept secret, and it was better to forget and break up.

Except that by the time of this decision, mutually beneficial multi-billion dollar contracts had already been concluded, and it was almost impossible to avoid meetings between the men.

If in the anthill Trey, counted that it is possible to hide under the guise of training in the ring, sincerely believing that the boss closes the window at the time of arrival of guests. Tho Raon was deprived of the opportunity to escape, and each time saw the exhausted look, releasing on the subordinates his pain of his beloved. It was unclear who was more hurt at that moment: Trey, who was smashing his hands into blood, or Raon, who was taking it personally.

Time passed, the passions and first emotions subsided. Meetings at events became less painful. Vago began to notice that his friend unconsciously still cared for Trey, giving insider information about possible difficulties, and the latter in turn shared what he had on his hands.

Half a year later, on the birthday of a shady businessman, the couple slipped away under the cover of night. Raon didn't say anything, but it was clear from his shining face.

A year later, when Vago and Ayson's relationship was friendly, the older man had hinted that they were having an affair and that he had nothing against it, but that since they were hiding it so carefully, they should keep it that way. Ayson complained that as soon as the lovers quarreled, the whole anthill went into a period of desperately hard training. Vago had noticed Raon's occasional drunkenness, as if he were getting rabies..

Matching the times and situations, the drunken gossipers concluded that these were moments when one of the pair had to test the odds. Raon's injury in Iraq, the trap involving Chakan and Trey in Korea, and many more. Taking that as a given, no one paid any more attention to the mutual tender care of the ferocious security chiefs, capable of killing anyone who would even think of harming their lover. Protecting and defending each other with more enthusiasm than their own bosses.

"So you know and you keep quiet?" - Boonmi marveled.

"Everyone has a right to privacy, of course I keep quiet, and you will keep quiet," Vago said confidently, looking straight into his listener's eyes.

"Why is that? I'm really wondering why it's him who hasn't said anything to me, and I have a thousand questions in general. When they saw each other, how their first date went, and the first kiss, and the first time, and who was who in the end. I mean, it's all incredibly interesting and romantic. I mean, it's like Romeo and Juliet, although it's probably Romeo and Romeo. How exciting everything is!" - With burning eyes the boy gibbered.

A rough touch on his face quickly sobered the boy for a second forgetting where and with whom he was. The vise of large fingers held his chin.

"You're not going to say anything to anyone, you're going to keep quiet until Trey tells you himself," Vago said, holding the boy's face with more insistence already.

"But, you've already been burned...," Boonmi defended the right to gossip.

"Don't make me use harsh measures," the man threatened.

The green of his eyes consumed the boy, he searched them for an answer as to how true his words and threats were. Was it worth listening to? After all, if he asked at home, he probably wouldn't know, would he?

"Hmm, interesting picture, am I interrupting you here?" - came the imperious voice of the lady of the house in the living room.

This is the end of the introduction to the main characters. Further narration of the main story will go on behalf of one of the characters, whose name will be as usual indicated at the beginning of the chapter.
