Anger part 2

Matt knew that Lohan was disappointed in him just by the tone of his voice, he ignored him the entire train ride and even had a pissed off look on his face. Matt was aware that what he did was bad but if it wasn't for them making him go to the meeting then he wouldn't have lost his temper.

Although Lohan thought otherwise, he was furious with Matt and the way he behaved during the meeting. In his opinion, Matt acted like a complete child and should have known better than to do that to the Nexus. He knew that he had to scold Matt about what he did but he wasn't sure if he should use Richard's method, Richard was always the one who had to scold them if they did something bad, but Richard is gone and it was up to him.

once they got back home that was when everything began going south.

Before Matt could even go back to Richard's, Lohan grabbed his shoulder so he would stop walking.

"Matthew, what you did today was reckless and irresponsible." Lohan began.

"I said I was sorry, I just lost my temper back there okay!" Matt argued, he didn't want to deal with whatever Lohan had to say.

"That does not justify what you did Matthew, might I remind you that those are the same people who are keeping you all together," Lohan argued, his patience was long gone. "If anything you're lucky that they only told you to never use your powers like that."

"I'm sorry that I did that but you have no right to lecture me."

"Boys calm down, we can settle this later." Alicia got in between the two, trying to calm them down but her efforts were unsuccessful.

"Excuse me, was I the one who was making objects fly around the room?"

"No but you were the one who forced me to go to that stupid meeting!"

"Because the Nexus said that they wanted everyone to be there, not only that but must I remind you that I am older than you!"

"Just because you're older than me doesn't mean I have to listen to a bloody word you say!"

"Matthew you are acting like a child!"

"Well news fucking flash, Lohan, I am a child so don't even bother with that arguement." The others tried to intervene but it was obvious that whatever they did wouldn't work. "Not only that but if you just left me in Richard's room we wouldn't be having this argument."

"I took you out of that room because you weren't taking care of yourself."

"Well sorry if I'm not exactly in the greatest headspace at the moment, something you would never understand because guess what, you never bother to even get close to Richard let alone actually care about him."

Everyone in the room remained silent, Lohan stood there as his expression was a mixture of anger and shock.

"You know what Matthew, I believe that ever since Richard died you have just been using his death as a way to justify your behavior, that way you wouldn't have to suffer the consequences."

Matt's expression was the same as Lohan only with more anger, tears started to appear.

"Is that what you think?." Matt felt tears run down his face, Lohan soon regretted his words. "You know what, I don't need to listen to this rubbish."

Matt quickly grabbed his jacket which on the couch and soon ran out the door as the others were calling for him.

"Matt!" Jamie called out.

"Oh shit." Scott swore.

"Leave him be, he'll come back." Lohan soon felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned around only to see Alicia, who was not very happy.

"Meet me in the kitchen, now."

"I think we should go upstairs." Danny stated, the remaining four agreed.

The five and Danny went to their rooms so they could avoid what was about to happen, once Alicia and Lohan were in the kitchen though, Alicia smacked Lohan on the side of his head.

"Why did you-?" Lohan tries to talk as he put a hand on the area she hit.

"What the hell was that?" Alicia interrupted, there was anger in her voice. "What gave you the bright idea to talk to him like that!"

"You and I both know that he could have hurt someone back there, he could have hurt your son, I was only doing what Richard or you would have done, besides, he's one of the five and should be acting more mature." Alicia pinched the bridge of her nose because of his response

"Did it ever occur to you that maybe just maybe Matt isn't in the right headspace at the moment, he lost his best friend and yet you outright tell him that he's using his death as an excuse for why he's acting like this!" Alicia argued, she soon calmed herself down. "I know what he did was bad but you have to remind yourself that he's still in the grieving process so you have to be more gentle with this process."

Lohan looked away from the woman in front of him, feeling guilty about what he had said to Matt. He knew that the boy wasn't actually using Richard's death as an excuse, if anything the thought of doing that disgusted the boy, but for some reason he told him that he was.

"Look, I understand that since you're a triad and you're only in your mid 20s, taking care of five teenagers is tricky but believe me when I say that if you want to look after these kids and help them, then you have to understand what they're feeling."

"But how, I was always taught to block out my emotions."

"I'll help you, I'm here for a few months anyway."

"...I'll never be a good of a parent or guardian like you or Richard."

"No parent or guardian is the same, remember that." Alicia knew who he was referring to. "Anyways, we should look for Matt, who knows where he went."

"I have a feeling I know already."

Meanwhile

It started to rain as Matt was running down the pavement, tears streaming down his face as he tried not to trip, he refused to look back. How dare Lohan accused him of using his friend's death as an excuse for how he's been acting, he would never do that and he knows it, and yet he still told him that. He continued running as the harsh rain was hitting him, he bumped into people by accident but he didn't care. There was a park that he would go to whenever he got upset, it had a playground for the little kids to play in, a sandbox, and some swings, it was simple but that's why Matt liked it. Once he got there he started breathing heavily, he sat down on one of the swings to rest, the swing was cold but he didn't mind, he was alone without anyone to bug him or scold him.

"I wish you were here Richard, it's not the same without you." Matt felt the tears starting to pour out once more, all he wanted was for the journalist to find him, ask him if he was insane for running out while it was raining, and then bring him home, but he knew that was impossible.

He was never coming back, no matter how much he wished he would come back, he was never going to see the journalist again.

Matt sat in silence, shivering due to the cold rain. That was when he heard footsteps coming towards him, Matt had a feeling it was Lohan or maybe Alicia who had come to find him.

"If you're Lohan or Alicia leave me alone, I don't want to talk."

"Um, Hi Matthew." Matt knew the voice, he looked up and that it wasn't Alicia or Lohan, instead it was a young man, Matt felt hatred course through his body as he recognized the man's face. "Y-You're probably surprised to see me."

"YOU!" Before the man could even speak, Matt ended up lifting the man off the ground.

"No wait! Let me explain!"

"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO PUSHED THE BUTTON THAT MADE YOUR MATES CHASE US, IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU THAT RICHARD IS!" Matt growled at the man, he wanted to end this man's life like he did to the person who killed Richard. "GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON I SHOULDN'T FUCKING KILL YOU RIGHT NO!"

"Please just let me explain!"

"You have one minute." Matt put the shaking man down, he wanted to hear what the pathetic excuse of a man had to say.

"You see after you escaped there was panic around the building, one of Nightrise's men return not knowing why he was there and the other came back saying that one of your people knocked him out, they went out looking for the man who was leading them but he turned up dead but there was also someone else's blood on the snow," Connor explained.

"Get to the bloody point."

"The point I'm trying to make is that we found out that the blood belonged to your friend and we soon found out that he died, I went home feeling guilty and was disgusted with myself because I felt like I caused it, I called my friend to tell Nightrise I quit and decided to go to Britain to find you."

"Why? For all I know you might be here with your boss."

"No, I wouldn't do that, if anything the only reason I came to Britain to was so I could apologize."

"What?"

"I am so sorry that my mistake caused your friend to die, I know I'm a coward and I know that if I just sided with you then maybe your friend could have lived, I don't deserve to be forgiven and I don't expect to be forgiven but please know that I'm truly sorry."

Matt was silent as he looked at the man, he knew he was telling the truth just by the way he looked, Matt almost felt sorry knowing that Nightrise probably threatened this man with death if he ever stepped out of line.

"I could never forgive Nightrise for what they did to us and I don't know if I could ever forgive you...but I won't hurt you, I understand how Nightrise treats their employees when they step out of line, and I refuse to do the same thing to you, even though you deserve it."

Connor shed a tear, he half expected the boy to hurt him and he would have understood why. Soon Connor noticed the boy's appearance, he had changed since the last time, the spark the boy had when they met was gone and he was to blame.

"S-So are you going to stay out here?"

"Yeah, I got into an argument with one of my friends, he said something that really hurt me and I just didn't want to be around him."

"Well here." Connor handed his umbrella to the boy. "I don't want you getting sick."

"No, I couldn't."

"No really, take it, I know I can never make up for what I did and I don't expect you to forgive me anytime but please know that I'm giving you this not because I want you to forgive me, but because I don't want anyone else to get hurt, or in your case, sick."

Matt accepted the umbrella and was able to shield himself from the rain.

"You don't even know me, so why care if I get sick or even bother coming all this way to apologize?"

The young man shrugged, "It could be because there's still a part of me that wants to help people, I just wish I knew that beforehand."

Matt looked at the man in front of him, he knew it would be a long time before he could even consider forgiving this man but for now, he'll just listen to what he has to say and see what happens next.

"Thank you, Connor, you're different from the others in Nightrise, consider that a good thing."

Connor smiled, he pulled his hood over his head and started to leave. "Well, I have to go, don't stay too long out here okay, bye Matthew."

"Bye."

Matt was once again left alone, he was left thinking about the man and how his personality had changed since the last time he saw him. The man he met back in Nightrise was meek and scared but now he seemed nice and actually cared about people, it could be possible that he was always a nice person but Nightrise forced him to be someone else just for their benefit.

'Maybe.'

It wasn't long until Matt heard two voices calling out for him, he then heard footsteps coming towards him. He looked at the direction they were coming from and there he saw Alicia and Lohan coming towards him.

"There you are Matt, you had us worried sick," Alicia spoke as she started examining him. "Are you hurt?"

"No, I'm okay."

"Where did you get that umbrella?" Lohan asked, noticing the umbrella Matt was holding.

"Someone gave it to me, they didn't want me getting sick."

"Let's just get you out of this rain." Alicia spoke.

It wasn't long until they returned home, once they were home though Lohan placed a hand on Matt's shoulder, Matt expected Lohan to yell at him about how what he did was idiotic and how he shouldn't have done that...but he was surprised by his response.

"Matthew, I am truly sorry about what I said, I should have known better than to say something that was completely false, you deserve the right to be angry at me."

"What you said really hurt me, Lohan, I care about Richard and I would never use his death just to justify my behavior and hearing you say that to me really broke me." Matt explained as he took off his jacket. "And I'm sorry about how behave at the meeting, I just wasn't mentally prepared for today and as a result I let my emotions get the best of me."

"Consider that my fault as well, Alicia told me that taking you out of that room and making you go to the meeting was not what you needed, I hope you can accept my apology but I

understand if you don't ." Lohan stuck out his hand, Matt knew he wanted to make sure they were on good terms again.

Matt shook his hand, "Apology accepted but please promise me that you will never say that ever again."

"You have my word."

Alicia smiled at the scene in front of her. "Good to see you two on good terms, now Matt how about you get ready for bed."

Matt nodded and went upstairs, already feeling exhaustion hitting him.

Alicia went towards Lohan and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Looks like you're learning."

"He may have forgiven me but that doesn't mean he's suddenly okay."

"No, no it doesn't, but at the very least he's making progress."

"I just hope that progress stays even after tomorrow."
