Chapter Ten

P.O.V of Kaldur.

"And what can we tell about Sherlock's character from this?" I asked the class and immediately a couple of hands shot up, "Yes, Karen."
"He is very shut off and unemotional, we can see this when Watson calls him a 'calculating machine'." She said, "This could show the split between science and religion with him and Watson on opposing sides."
"Well done." I said, I didn't know much about the book but after reading it through and doing some land history I knew that was a strong answer, "If you write that in your essay along with effects and analysis of a key word you'll be looking at a six or seven."
She practically beamed at this and I went to go ask Ben but Amanda suddenly shot up out of her seat shouting, "Attack."
I quickly looked over to the internal window and saw a large count of the court of Owls flooding into the classroom, at least twenty.
"Everyone, under the tables and out the way." I ordered, preparing my water bearers and watching as they made their way to the back corner.
The door burst open and I went straight into combat, hitting them every now and then but not making any damage. They had surrounded me by this point and I just knew I was going down. Just then I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and I fell to the floor, seeing stars. Then I felt a pinch at the back of my neck and the world became black.

P.O.V of Artemis.

I watched the class as they went through the strength circuit, some trying, some not. But I wasn't going to make them do anything. I moved my eyes to my bow and quiver, stashed in the corner just out of sight of the students. I never left anywhere without it anymore. It was much safer to have too much protection than not enough.
"Change stations." I shouted as the two minute alarm went off and they all trudged to the next station, arms to legs, legs to abdominals, abdominals to arms. Then they split off to the separate stations within the station.
I reset the timer as they continued to exercise. I really regretted saying I wanted to teach P.E for the team, it was so boring. I was just thinking sport, yay. In reality it was watch sport, not so yay. It was as I was thinking about joining in that the doors to the gym came flying off their hinges and a pack of Owls came in.
"Everyone behind me." I yelled, instantly reaching for my bow and quiver, loading and shooting.
The Owls had a good formation, meaning I could only hit the ones at the front, about five of the twenty. I reached back for another arrow but found my quiver empty, not too much of a problem. I ripped it off my back and extended my bow, making sure the knives at the ends were unsheathed. It was then that the Owls swarmed in, leaving the injured at the back to tend to their wounds. The remaining fifteen encircled me and I noticed through the broken off doors that Kaldur was lying on the ground, completely out of it. That was enough distraction to allow the Owls to inject something into the back of my neck and I fell into oblivion.

P.O.V of Conner.

The sound of pens scratching on paper was soothing, of course there were some whispered conversations here and there, but if I didn't listen hard I couldn't hear them, so I just tuned them out. In fact, I just tuned out my super hearing altogether. It was a new trait I'd learnt, to be able to 'turn off' my powers when I wanted to so that when I needed them they were stronger. That was probably why I didn't hear the Owls outside the classroom until they came flooding through the door. Fifteen of them in total.
I hit the alarm that sent the school into lockdown as the class cowered into the corner. The Owl's didn't bother with formalites, instead they went straight into attack, thier movements so swift and controlled unlike mine that just hit anything and everything. I managed to take out one Owl but they kept closing their ranks tighter and tighter until I had no room to move. I felt something pinch the back of my neck and I fell to the ground, my last sight a fleeting glimpse of Artemis and Kaldur unconciouss on the floor.

P.O.V of Wally.

The school announed a lockdown and the class went silent, the practical forgotten.
"Alright everyone, we need to stay inside the classroom and make sure that everything is turned off." I said, and they turned off all the gas taps and closed the blinds to the inside curtian and dimed the lights.
I put on a pair of saftey goggles, if I ended up using my superspeed I didn't want my eyes to be streaming water everywhere.
"Sir,"Mark said and I turned to face him, "What do we do if the attackers come to here?"
"I'll protect you, don't worry." I soothed them.
"But what if you can't?" Mark asked.
"Then throw chairs at them," I smirked, "That'll deter them."
We waited a couple more seconds in silence when the door opened and 12 Owls came into the room. I instantly went into my flash speed and began to punch and kick at rates to fast for them to keep up with. Well, that's what I thought. I had only taken out two when I was tripped and went flying across the room into a table. The students all gave a collective intake of breath as the Owls came over.
"Please, don't hurt the kids." I begged as they twisted me to face them.
"We don't care about the kids." One of the Owls growled as they injected me with something, "Robin only cares about you."

P.O.V of Damian.

Mother and I were walking home in silence, and now the rush was wearing off I could feel my arms killing me, it was probably the force exerted from keeping the dog from ripping my throat out. I hated the feeling of pain, it was a weakness to feel pain. Though it was fun to fight, the aftermath can feel the worst. My mother put her arm in front of me and I pulled to a stop, listening to our surrondings. I heard the footsteps just before an Owl came down at us, slicing with their sword. It cut into my mothers leg and it instantly gave out on her. I turned to face the Owl kicking out but he caught my leg and twisted. I leaped over to stop it from breaking and landed on my hands. Another Owl came down and restrained my mother, injecting her with something that made her eyes roll into the back of her head. I pushed up with my hands as hard as possible, trying to get the Owl to release their hold on my foot but it didn't work. It was then another Owl came over and put their knife to my throat.
"Don't even think about it." He growled as I was lifted to my feet and we began to walk.
Five minutes later the school came into sight, already locked down but the Owls got in without any trouble, the police hadn't even arrived yet. I think I knew what was happening, and I knew that I had to stop it.

P.O.V of Tim.

Dick had been ignoring me all lesson, he just wouldn't talk about his time with Crowder. I just wanted to help him but he was too independent. Eventually I just left class using the excuse I needed to refill my water bottle. I went to the furthest filler and just as I finished filling it I felt a knife slide to the base of my throat. I stiffened instantly, and almost straight after the school alarm went off.
"Stay quiet or I'll slit you ear to ear." The Owl said as we began to walk down the corridor and towards my math classroom. No. I began to struggle but he just grabbed me tighter. Please, this can't be happening.

P.O.V of Jason.

Geography was boring as per usual. I mean, when would I ever need to learn about rivers, someone tell me please cuase I sure as hell don't know. The rest of the class were making their models of rivers whilst I dozed off when the school annonced a lockdown.
"Alright class, remian calm." Mr Hardaton said, "Turn off the lights and stay out of sight."
The class did as he said in a panicked silence and a couple of seconds later the door burst down to reveal five Owls. They quickly scanned the classroom, their gaze landing on me. The stalked over, the teacher charged with protecting me cowering behind his desk. As soon as they got to me I leaped back and onto the cupboards. They threw a knife but I dodged, only to lose my balance and come off the high point. I recovered with a handspring and got into a fighting stance but I was surronded, and that meant I was most likely going to lose. No, I can't think like that. Jason Todd never loses a fight. We all leaped into action but I was quickly overpowered and a knife was held to my throat. None of the Owls looked injured. They silently led me out the classroom and towards the math building, where a flock of other Owls were already waiting, there must have been at least 20, but a proper count told me there was only 18. I was stantioned outside the classroom, along with Tim and Damian who were being held like me, and behind us covered by 14 of the Owls was the team, minus Dick and Megan who must still be in the classroom.
Please Dick, whatever you do, don't give yourself up for us.

P.O.V of Megan.

The door opened to show 18 Owls, 3 of them holding Richard's brothers at the front in full view.
"Get off me you big brute." Jason growled as he struggled but the Owl holding him dug the knife enough to draw blood and he stopped.
"Richard John Grayson." The Owl at the centre of the flock said, his mask distorting his voice, and his confidence warring with the panic of the class, hurting my mind.
"Present." He replied, almost as if out of reflex and we all looked at him, the class a mixture of question and panic, the Owls with hunger and his brothers with raw fear in their eyes, even Damian.
"Come with us." The same Owl commanded and I saw Richard think it over, as if we would let him walk off with the people we were charged to protect him from.
"He's not going anywhere." I said as I let my glamour fade away so that they would know who they were fighting against.
The class gasped behind me, some with shock, some with a feeling of safety. Richard, however, looked like he didn't believe me.
"Oh, I think he will be. Or these guys will be dying." The Owl said and blood was drawn from all three of his brothers, even Jason's captor tightening his grip more so that he could barley breath.
"My team won't allow that." I said as I began to build up my power, if we all worked together we could take them out with minimal damage to his brothers.
"What team?" The Owl questioned in an almost smug tone as 14 of the Owls at the back split to show everyone on the floor, chained up and unconscious.
My breath caught when I saw Conner, his bonds made of Kryptonite, and his face showing pain even when his mind was far away.
"Release them first." Richard almost growled and we all looked to him, the calm rock in the centre of the panic, this kid was made of stone.
But as much as I tried to think of another way, I wanted Conner back and that meant I would have to let him be taken.
"No." The Owl growled.
"How do I know you won't just kill them?" He asked, crossing his arms and looking at the Owl with a look of fake confidence, he knew he had lost.
"You're not in a place to bargain boy." The Owl said, "You either come and work for us or they all die." As if to prove his point the Owls around my team drew their swords and I had to contain myself from rushing forward to grab Conner.
Richard met no resistance when he walked past his brothers, Damian looking at him with a proud and sad look whilst Tim and Jason seemed to be begging him to reconsider. The Owl then growled something in his ear and injected him with a serum.
But what happened was not what I expected, rather than falling unconcuis like the team, his eyes clouded over and became clear again, his posture changing.
"Let's go." The Owl commanded and they all realeased Tim, Jason, Damian and the team.
But Richard had gone with them.
