PoV: Dex

"Woah, back the t-rex up!" Keefe exclaimed, "Tempest said what?"

"She said that she didn't think the prophecy was complete in any way." Hazel replied.

" And you really believe her? " I asked, "She worked with the Neverseen. Maybe she's trying to trick us?"

"I don't think so. She was entirely serious, and has no reason to lie."

Piper sighed, "Well, what do we do?"

" Be careful, I guess, " Sophie replied, "If the Neverseen really know as much as Tempest says they do, then we'll have to keep an eye out for anything. Changing the plan might have to happen too."

Hazel nodded before walking away, Piper following her. Sophie and I had been going over our part of the plan again and Keefe had randomly decided to join when Hazel and Piper had come in. I shuddered as I thought about how Hazel said Tempest knew the Neverseen had more knowledge than we had realized. To my dismay, it made a lot of sense, which didn't seem like a good sign.

"I don't get it," Sophie mumbled, " How would the Neverseen already know everything? "

"Better question," Keefe countered, " How did Hazel get Tempest to tell her that? "

All three of us paused. "Somehow, Hazel got Tempest to trust her," Sophie started.

" And it seems mutual, " I added, "Using Hazel to get information would be the worst idea ever."

" So... do we just let it slide? " Keefe asked, "I mean, Tempest is with the Neverseen. Trusting her seems like a worse idea than using Hazel."

Sophie slapped his arm, "We aren't going to use anyone. We'll just keep doing things the way we've always done it."

Because that's turned out well in the past, I thought as Keefe continued, "Alright. But if Tempest ruins the entire plan..."

"We'll improvise." I answered, "I mean, that's basically what we do every time!"

Sophie smiled, " Come on. We should get ready. "

PoV: Tempest

It was the first time I could move. As soon as I realized it, I dashed over to my brother, trying to push the dark figure aside. Instead, the hooded person gave a sharp laugh before vanishing, taking my brother with him.

All the adrenaline leaving me, I collapsed on the ground, carefully scooping up the seeds on the ground in front of me. Wrapping my fingers around them, I started sobbing as the world around me became an empty grey void. I felt eyes prying into me, and all my sorrow became anger.

"Why?" I asked through gritted teeth , "Why would you do this to me?"

" Arelyn, " my mother began, "You just don't understand-"

"No." I interrupted angrily as I turned to face her, " No it's you who doesn't understand. You like to sit up there in your little kingdom above the clouds, using people for your own amusement. You mess with the lives of innocent people because you think it's humorous. Well let me tell you something: no sane person would do what you do, even if they had the power to. "

"Arelyn, listen to me," my mother pleaded.

" Why? So you can try to make me change my mind? So you can make me think you aren't going to screw up my life? He's going to hate me, mom. Your games will make him hate me. "

"He doesn't even know you,"

" No, he knows me. He just doesn't know who I am. "

The silence between us grew. The world was a solid grey canvas with a white and a black figure. Who knew white could destroy what was pure?

"Arelyn, please, just listen. I don't want to ruin your life-"

" And yet, here we are!" I interrupted.

"Arelyn! I know you may hate me, but I can make it up to you."

I laughed, " And how would you be able to make me feel better? You are going to make my own brother hate me!"

"Arelyn -"

" Now you'd better let me wake up before you ruin anything else. "

My mother sighed, and the grey world disappeared.

I woke up with a gasp, sitting straight up on my bed. Clapping a hand over my mouth, I laid back down and curled myself into a ball, crying into my arms. I heard footsteps coming towards me, but I didn't care if it was Hazel or Percy or Sophie or Fitz. I didn't care about anything at the moment.

The entire hall was dead silent except for my sobs, so I was slightly surprised when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking up, the sight of a boy with blonde hair and ice blue eyes startled me. "Keefe, " I said, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand, "What are you-"

"Are you okay?" Keefe interrupted. His expression of genuine concern threw me off.

"Um, y-yeah. I'm fine."

"I can tell you're not. You can't lie to an Empath. " I sighed, but didn't say anything, so Keefe continued, "I'm guessing this had something to do with the Neverseen?"

" What makes you assume that?" I asked as I looked out of my room - if you could call it that - and saw Tam standing there.

Keefe gave a quiet chuckle, "I may not trust you, but I do know that the Neverseen are not good people. And I also know that they will do whatever they need to go get help from anyone. Threats, force, torture; I know those are a few. " I cringed as he said the word "torture", "So yeah, I don't trust you. Not in the slightest. But I know we share a rough background, so I'll respect your decision to help us. "

I have him a small smile, "Ok. I can live with that."

Keefe moved his hand off my shoulder, " Alright. "

Tam cleared his throat, "Well, the entire reason we came here in the first place was because we need you. "

"And here I thought you don't trust me!" I joked as I kicked my legs over the end of my bed.

Tam rolled his eyes and Keefe tried in vain to keep himself from smiling, "We're going to the Neverseen base."

" And you need me to help you get inside, don't you? " I felt my smile turn into a smirk as they both looked at me awkwardly, "Well, you don't have to worry about that not working. When do we leave? "

"In about an hour." Keefe replied.

" Ok. I'll be ready in half of that. " I said, though after they left, I felt my smile fall. Mom, if you really thought that would make it up to me, you've got a long ways to go. Still... thank you.

A/n: I'm sorry. this chapter was supposed to come out yesterday but I fell asleep! I apologize. Anyways, I'll try to update tomorrow, and hopefully I'll live up to what I say this time... Well, see you all later!!
