Chapter 5
Janelle
Before Mr Nandez could throw a comment back at Corrine, the bell rang for next lesson.
He sighed.
"Miss Alesso, write a reflection on your behavior today. The rest of the class, please read Chapter 6 in your Geography homework." he said and strode out of the room.
Pandemonium ruled the class as we realised our freedom.
Deryl turned and talked to Jed, Corrine ran to stand guard at the door and I...
Read my textbook.
Sorry if that's boring, but I was guessing that by the time we get home from that fancy Bodyguards' Association, I'd have no time to study.
Suddenly, Corrine ran back to her seat.
"Teacher's here!" she yelled, setting the class in a frenzy to get back to their seats.
Miss Deena stepped in.
"Why, Corrine, nice keeping the class quiet." she remarked sarcastically.
Corrine stood her ground but sat back down with only her pride hurt.
And so, lessons began.
~~~
The last bell clanged as Corrine, Dayna, Nick, Donovan and I pushed our way through the crowds and onto the street.
Dayna fanned her face.
"Finally, fresh air! So hot in there," she commented, glancing at the school.
Donovan walked ahead quietly as Dayna glanced at Nick.
It was no secret that Dayna liked Nick, but it was strange seeing her admiring him.
Nick dropped to the back of the group and ducked his head low to avoid Dayna's adoring gaze.
Wow, that girl must be a really, um...
Lovesick puppy?
No offense, but that gaze was totally creepy.
Corrine glanced at me.
"Aren't you gonna help Dayna get together with Nick?" she asked.
"Hey, matchmaking's your specialty, not mine." I replied.
Corr's eyes had a glint.
"So... today's fight. Are we over it?" she said, getting straight to the point.
"Course." I said.
I love how we get over fights so easily.
We rounded the corner and saw a shiny gray building.
"We're at 10 Wooton Street," Donovan announced.
Wow, nice sleek design.
We all stood there, mesmerised by it until a sharp voice yelled at us.
"Keep walking, would ya'?"
Oh, a disgruntled grandma.
"Sorry," Corr apologised for the group.
"Let's go!" I ordered and we crossed-more like jaywalked- the road.
To the Bodyguards' Association.
