When Janelle didn't make it back for more than 20 minutes, I started worrying. Without knowing, I started pacing. "Stop pacing. Pacing isn't gonna do any good." El said.
I stopped abruptly. She was right. It wasn't doing any good.
"I'm gonna look for her." As the words left my lips, I strode to the nearest cabin. "Benny! No! You'll get yourself hurt." she finished. I rolled my eyes. "I'm not as fragile as you think." With that I left.
I glanced down at the trails of blood. The sides of the cabin were streaked with dark crimson blood which had congealed. I shivered.
I'd hate to be caught in that crossfire. I walked to the next cabin and collided with something.
I looked up into brown, tired eyes. "Jann?" I asked. She nodded. Her clothes were bloody and dripping. "What happened?" I asked. She gave me a half-smile.
"Apparently the 'jackers brought a blood bomb. They timed it to go off when a footstep was felt. As luck has it it exploded all over me." She said with a grimace.
I looked her up and down. Only her pants weren't dirtied with blood. "I covered myself. With a blanket." she explained. My eyes drifted and I looked away.
"Let's get back."
