Third P.O.V

After the kidnapping and saving Mikasa. You would think that everything was all over. No, with every success comes a punishment. Their punishment was a friend who laid there unconscious. 

Eren and Mikasa stared worringly at Noah who laid on the ground. Grisha looked over Noah and checked for any damages. Mikasa gripped the scarf eren gave her as she cried into the scarf. If she had moved a bit faster, if she had acted sooner. Noah would be standing with them right now.

Instead, he's on the floor unconscious. Eren glared to the ground, gripping his fists. He knew the dangers of it and yet dragged Noah into this. What was he thinking? How could he do that to his best friend... how could he...

Eren: d-dad, is noah gonna be alright?

Grisha didn't answer as he continued to examine noah's body. Once he finished, he turned to the two and replied.

Grisha: He's fine, he's only unconscious so he would get up in about a day or two. He'll need the recovery to gain back the oxygen he lost.... now

Grisha grips eren's shoulder, glaring at his son who shivered a bit.

Grisha: Eren, I told you to wait at the base of the mountain with noah. Do you understand what you've done?! You put yourself and noah in danger

Eren: I know that! b-but noah and I knew that if we did go to the base. The beasts would have already been long gone for the military bridage police to arrive. It would've been too late!!

Grisha: that's no excuse eren. You played this off with luck but noah still ended up injured. Even with those men killed, you still injured your friend

Eren: I-I....noah

Grisha: Mikasa, let's head home

Mikasa: y-yes

Grisha lifted up noah in his arms and carried him. Eren and Mikasa followed beside him to the carriage. Heading inside as the carriage took them back to shiganshina district. 

Yeager Household (Next to Stone Household)

Grisha paid the coachman the money as he left. Mikasa and eren stared at a man who sat on his doorstep. He saw grisha and smiled, waving over until he saw someone in his arms. Coming close to the light, Nate's eyes widened. Tears falling down his face as he sees noah in grisha's arms.

Unconscious and bruises of a handprint around his neck. 

Nate: W-Wha.... N-Noah..?

Grisha placed noah in nate's arms. Getting a better look at his injured body as Nate cried, staining his clothes a bit. Guilt growing onto eren and mikasa who looked away.

Grisha: Do you mind taking noah to his room to rest? 

Nate: s-sure, but--

Grisha: I can explain in the morning, I still need to check his injuries but I have to put eren and mikasa to bed

Nate: mikasa? you mean ackerman's daughter?

Grisha: yes, nate please. rest, you had a long day and your son needs rest too. Get some sleep, I will put myself and my kids to bed. We'll talk in the morning

Nate:..... yeah, good night grisha...eren....mikasa

Grisha: good night nate

Eren: night

Mikasa: good night

The yeager's and mikasa left nate and his son who went inside to take rest. 

Next Morning (Stone Household)

Nate was not doing well. Being overwhelmed with his son's health. He ended up getting 4-5 hours of sleep. In the morning, he looked at his son who held onto teddie. That's right, last night his son was shivering and gave him a blanket. Think it was the cold.

When it didn't work, he brought in noah's favorite toy and gave it to him. Easily calmed down but it still made nate stay up. For his son...

Knocking was heard from the door. Slowly getting up to see Grisha, Carla, Eren, and Mikasa. He was confused until Carla went over to him and shook his hair around.

Carla: Nate, as much as I love you, you need to take care of yourself

Nate: I can't....my son

Nate looks back to the couch to his son sleeping with teddie. The others peek in to see noah sleeping peacefully. Nate lets them in as Eren and mikasa ran over to noah. Staring at noah worringly as Nate sat on the chair. Grisha and Carla sat by each other on the other couch.

Noah: you said you would explain everything... what happened?

Grisha: well I along with eren and your son went to see mikasa. You had given me permission to take noah with me to see mikasa. When we came over to the house, mikasa's parents had passed away

Mikasa eyes saddened until she felt noah's hand near her. She moved her hand to his and gripped it. The soft touch on hers as she holds onto it. Eren glared but stopped for the sake of noah. 

Grisha: Seeing trouble, I told eren to take noah to the base of the mountain while I got the military police brigade. However, when I learned that they saw no kids at the base of the mountain, I knew something was up. That's when I saw mikasa and eren. Both unharmed but noah was nowhere to be found. When we saw his body, he was still alive but he was unconscious by the time I got there

Nate: o-oh my god (looks down) if i had known of this kind of danger...I-

Carla: nate, no one can predict the future... all we can do is wait for the boy to heal

Nate: yeah... thank you grisha and carla

Grisha: (turns to eren and mikasa) eren, mikasa, don't you have something to say?

Nate turns to mikasa and eren who stare back at him. A few times, they glanced away until they leaned their heads down, bowing to nate who looked confused

Eren: We're sorry

Mikasa: we're sorry

Nate:...

Eren: i-it was my fault, I ignored noah and my safety to save mikasa. I was afraid she would be gone. I-

Mikasa: iit was my fault, if i had been a few seconds faster o-or just moved even a little. noah would be here with you, mr.stone

Both kids tried to take blame, knowing that in the end. it was both of their faults. Nate sighed and held his hand out, motioning them to stop.

Nate: I know... like your mother said, its in the past. I'm just happy to see my son, knowing he comes back breathing is all I need

Eren: w-we're really sorry

Noah: (wakes up) e- eren?

Everyone was shocked, turning to the boy who rubbed his eye a bit and held teddie close. Looking around the room to notice he was back home. Nate was surprised and went over to his son and hugged him.

Noah: d-dad?

Nate: thank goodness, I thought you would sleep forever

Mikasa: you're alive

Nate: what happened? are you okay, mikasa?

Grisha: I'm surprised you care of her safety then your own. Do you not remember what happened?

Noah: I only remembered being choked and falling asleep. Before eren and I had killed the two guys and freed mikasa

Grisha: I see...

Carla: oh I'm just glad you're alright. your father was worried sick and could hardly sleep

Noah: d- dad

Nate: I'm fine now...just promise me to always come home. I don't care if you lose a limb, paralyzed, can't speak, can't see, can't hear, or gay. Just come home to me.... okay?

Noah: y-yes dad

Eren: mr.stone

Noah and nate turned to eren who stood by mikasa.

Eren: I can protect noah so he can come home

Mikasa: I can too

Nate: thank you children, it's been a long day. Hasn't it?
