He was tackled from behind and got launched forwards a few feet. The ground he landed in was wet and muddy, despite Logan's' kingdom being legendary for it's' dryness. But, he didn't worry about that yet, he was screaming and lashing out.

Whoever was attacking him was strong. And Thomas knew who they were. They were the pair of glowing green eyes that had been trailing him for weeks. They were holding him in place easily, letting him thrash about like they weren't at all concerned. But then Thomas managed to send his elbow crashing into their face and they pulled off him instinctively. The 'human' spun around and kicked them in the stomach, sending his attacker flying.

And he finally got a good look at them when the shadowy hood fell off their head.

It was a human. At least, it looked like a human.  It also looked male. Their eyes were a vibrant green, and their hair was either grey or brown, it was hard to tell, and they had a pretty amusing moustache curling under their nose. Then, his attacker snarled and proved it was definitely not a human by turning into a giant squid.

There's something you don't see every day.

The thing-that-was-a-man-but-now-is-a-large-squid launched itself at Thomas, tentacles flailing. The 'human' screeched at an impressively high octave and only just scrambled away, running on his hands and knees.

Thomas had never noticed this before but the dry earth he crawled over to hurt his palms. The dirt grains were stiff, sharp and hard, dragging tiny cuts across his palms as he scuttled away, eventually climbing to his feet to see that his attacker was now a large bat, flying into his face madly. The kitchen boy screamed and yelled and the eyes were so ominous and luminous, creepy and almost magical and- oh, shit.

This person was a shapeshifter.

A pulse of adrenaline rocked Thomas to his core and he managed to escape the frantic bat. The shapeshifter behind him screeched and lunged once more for Thomas before the air around them suddenly seemed to swell.

Both Thomas and the shifter were held in place and they slowly rotated around to see a wide-eyed, silvery figure.

King Patton was looking from the bat to Thomas, to the bat again. The shapeshifter morphed back into a human but Patton seemed a little too stunned to register it yet. "Logan! " He shouted and a jagged collection of rocks crisscrossed around the shapeshifter, trapping him.

"Okay," Logan said, stepping into view and Thomas could suddenly move again. "What was that about?"
