It had been almost a week since I had arrived at the Crystal Moon Pack. Pretty much the whole pack had heard of my arrival by now, but I didn't really talk to anyone about it.

But then there was Mason. He was pretty awesome. He was fun. We hung out everyday, racing through the territory, playing games in the game room, watching movies in the living room. But there seemed to be something that both of us didn't know about each other. I still remembered that day perfectly clear.

I growled at Mason as we played around in the woods. Mason leapt at me, but I ran off with barks of laughter. The two of us ran through the forest, tongues hanging out of our mouths, smiling at each other.

Suddenly, a shiver ran up my spine as a howl rose in the air. Mason froze. I stopped. "What?" I barked.

He looked at me. "Intruders," he answered. Another howl rose in the air. "Stay here," he ordered me. "I have to go."

Mason started to run away, but I raced after him. "Woah, woah, woah. What are you talking about? I'm not staying back here without you. Why do you have to go? You should stay back, let the adults handle it," I tried to reason with him.

Mason spun around. "No! I can't! I have to go!" He snarled at me.

My eyes went wide as he yelled at me. I backed up a few steps, slowly lowering to the ground in fear. Mason immediately stopped, his expression softening to apologetic and concerning. "I'm sorry, Sammie, but I have to go. It's my job."

I tilted my head to the side. "Why would that be your job?"

He sighed as he averted his gaze. "Because...I just have to, okay?"

I shook my head. "What aren't you telling me, Mason? You can trust me." I took a few steps towards him, my voice gentle.

Mason sighed again. He looked up at me. "Because I'm the future Alpha."

Okay. I had to admit, that was not what I was expecting. "Future Alpha?" Mason nodded as he hung his head. "So your father is Alpha Drake?" He nodded again. "What's wrong with that? Why didn't you tell me that before?"

He looked up at me. "Because of the way you treat me. Usually, whenever someone finds out that I'm the future Alpha, they just give me tons of respect and act like I'm all high and mighty. But I just want to be treated like I'm normal. And you did. So...I didn't want you to start treating me different because of what I was."

I smiled and trotted up to him. "Mason, I would still treat you the same. As you may have noticed, I'm not a normal werewolf." Mason glanced up as I gave him a goofy wolf smile.

Mason laughed. "Thanks, Sammie. But still, you need to stay here."

I shook my head. "You're not the only one with a job," I smirked. Mason looked at me in confusion. "I think your future Beta will be needed, too."

Mason looked at me in confusion. "Future Beta? But that would be the child of Brian, but he doesn't have any kids, so we haven't decided who will be my Beta."

I smiled. "Of course, you do. I will. How could I not?" Mason continued to look at me in confusion. That's when the realization hit. "You don't know..." I whispered.

"Know what?

"Do you know who your father's Beta was?" I asked.

"Duh, it's Brian."

"No," I replied. "Before Brian." Mason looked at me puzzled. "Josh Felman was the previous Beta of the Crystal Moon Pack. My father was the Beta."

Mason's eyes widened. "So you're the true future Beta of this pack." I nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?!" He burst out.

I leapt back in surprise. "You didn't ask!" Mason growled, but I stopped him. "Aren't we supposed to be somewhere?"

Mason's eyes widened. "Oh, crap. Come on!" He yelled as he spun around and raced off through the woods. I took off, running at his heels.

The two of us joined the adults as we fought the intruders. They had turned out to be some rogues who had wondered onto the territory, but they definitely weren't friendly. The adults had been impressed at my fighting skills since I hadn't been in a pack all my life, but my parents had still taught me how to fight.

And Mason and I were still good. We treated each other the same, if not better. It still kind of boggled my mind to think that Mason was my future Alpha and I was his future Beta.

Anyways, let's get back to the present. Mason met me outside my room, so we could go do something. "So what are we doing today?" I asked as we walked down the stairs.

Mason smiled. "Someone wants to meet you." I looked at him in confusion. "You'll see," he said with a chuckle.

As soon as my feet hit the floor of the bottom level, I was ambushed. "OMG, you must be Samantha! Hi!" A cheerful voice came. I looked up to see a beautiful girl around my age with long, straight blond hair with slight brown mixed in and beautiful grey, blue eyes. She had a perfect figure, and she was absolutely stunning.

Mason chuckled beside me. "Sammie, meet Abigail. Abi, this is Samantha."

"It's so wonderful to finally meet you, Samantha! I've heard so much about you!" Abigail cheered.

"Sammie, please, Abigail," I corrected.

Abigail smiled. "Okay, and call me Abi." I smiled. She was actually really kind. "Mason says your pretty amazing," Abi said with a mischievous glance at Mason. I heard a small groan from Mason as Abi giggled.

"Okay, Sammie," Mason turned to me, "I have to do some work today, and Abi wanted to hang out with you. So, do you mind?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing together.

I smiled. "Of course. You go do your work thing. I will have a great time with Abi." I threw a smile at Abi. Abi gleamed happily.

"Okay," Mason replied. "See you guys later."

"Bye," I called as he raced back up the stairs.

"You like him," Abi said behind me. I turned around to see her beaming at me excitedly. She looked like she was about to jump around like a bunny in all of her excitement that she was containing.

"What?"

"You like Mason," she said, emphasizing on each word. I was about to reply, but she stopped me. "Don't even try to deny it. I can tell." Abi put her hands on her hips and gave me a mischievous smile.

I laughed at her. "Well, of course, I like him. He's the only friend I have ever had besides Rosie."

"That's not what I mean, but who's Rosie?" She asked. Rosie barked from beside me. Abi looked down with a smile. "I'm guessing you're Rosie then," Abi giggled. Rosie yipped happily in response. Abi laughed. "You're so cute," Abi bet down to pet Rosie. "But still...I know you like him. And he likes you."

"Pftt. Whatever. Abi, I seriously doubt I know anything about that kind of stuff. I have never seen another werewolf in my life besides my parents until just a few days ago," I explained.

Finally, Abi dropped it. "Anyways, what do you want to do?" I shrugged. She looked around in thought for a moment before she gasped. "Have you ever been shopping?" I shook my head, causing her to jump up in excitement. "That's it! I'm taking you on your first shopping trip! Let's go!" I laughed as Abi grabbed my wrist and dragged me out the door and into one of the several cars the pack had. This one was a red convertible, and it was beautiful. I smiled as I hopped into the passenger seat. Abi started the car, the engine roaring to life.

Rosie barked from outside the car. I looked over the side at her. "I'm sorry, girl, but you can't go through the stores and everything, and I won't leave you in the car. Why don't you go play with Jasper?" Jasper was a young preteen boy who adored Rosie. He also had a husky named Rex, and Rosie adored them both as well. She had been spending most of her time with them as I stayed with Mason. Rosie was finally starting to leave my side after two years. Rosie wagged her tail furiously before she sped off, barking, into the forest towards Jasper's house.

"Ready?" Abi asked, her hands on the steering wheel, ready to take off. I smiled and nodded. Abi giggled as she drove down the rode and away from the pack house, out of the pack's territory, out of the woods, and into the human town. It was a sight like no other, and in my head, a little voice whispered, "I could get used to this."
