~Angel's POV~

~The day of the performance~

I had decided to change my solo last minute, which Laurence and Nicole gave me heck. This new song is what has been going on with me, it's a little fast but that's okay. The duet with Laurence was a hit. Everyone loved it, and the judges gave us a ten out of ten. It was my turn for solos next. I was last because of my age. The person from Tu'la high bowed then walked off. The lights went dark, and I ran silently to my spot on stage, then quietly waited. I turned on my hands-free mic, right as the student from Tu'la high turned his off. Once everything was ready, the band started play.

A spotlight turned on to me right before I started singing. And, thanks to some visual effects, I made it look like some red shadows where on stage. One was the silhouette of me, on the words "Staring in the mirror, myself to blame." That disappeared after those lines. They looked like real people, and they appeared to be too, but that was to the blind eye. I spent hours upon hours to make the shadows show up against the black, and making them feel real, was an even harder task. My mom would come into my room to find out what I was doing. I was quiet enough to not wake up Levin, which I made sure of. But she always heard talking from my room when I talked to Nicole about the plan. She was going to be working on the lights during my solo. She was in the balcony working the shadows, and glancing at the stage every once and awhile to see if they were working, which they were. And at the end of the song, everyone clapped. I turned off my mic after I ran offstage. I ran into Laurence and Nicole shortly after. "So. What did you guys think?" I asked, going up on my tippy toes a little. "I thought it was amazing." Nicole said plainly, and I smiled at her. "I thought it was okay." Laurence said, twirling his hand a bit. My eyes shot into his. That's when Nicole shook him. "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG SHE MADE ME STAY UP LAST NIGHT JUST EXPLAINING HOW IT WORKS!? HOURS, LAURENCE! SHE'S BEEN WORKING ON THAT ANIMATION DAY AND NIGHT! JUST BEFORE THIS IS THE ONLY TIME SHE GOT ACTUAL SLEEP!" Nicole somewhat yelled at him. "Is that true?" Laurence said, looking at me, and lightly pushing Nicole away from him. "Ya. My mom kept telling me to go to bed... I didn't. Until like. 7 hours ago. I only slept for 5 hours today, so ya." I said, he looked closer at my face, and suddenly noticed the bags under my eyes, then nodded. "Okay then. Well Angel. You and Nicole are on soon so you'd better get ready." Laurence said. "Who are you doing it with? You practiced with the person during lunch when a lot of the students weren't at lunch at the normal time." I said, looking at him suspiciously. "You'll see. They kind of look like you too, Angel. (I know who it is!)" Laurence said, winking at me, as I walked into the auditorium...
