Chapter 2 Practice Makes Perfect!
~Angel's POV~
I woke up with my alarm this time. I turned it off and got ready for school. I didn't put on any makeup today. I ate breakfast and brushed my teeth. I then brushed my hair, and put it up in two ponytails. I ignored what a lot people said about me, most because I was bullied for liking this kind of hair style. I hoped no one did that to me when I got on the bus. A boy ended up sitting by me. He didn't talk much either, so I got lucky this time. He was one of the kids who got in the school. He had blond hair, but he never looked at me so I could see his eyes. Once we got to the school, I was asked to go to the office. I went there and saw a boy with light brown hair, and sky blue eyes, like mine. "This is who you will be singing with in the contest. His name is Laurance. Your teachers have given you guys the chance to find a song to sing. And if you find one earlier than normal, tell me, and then you have the rest of the day to practice." The girl told me. "Nice to meet you, Angel." He said, smiling. "Pleasure to meet you too, Laurance." I said, smiling while shaking his hand. "There is no theme." The girl said, and I nodded. "I have an idea for a song." I told Laurance, as he held the door open for me. We started walking towards the auditorium. "What's that?" He asked me. "Love me again." I said as we got into the auditorium. "Sounds good to me!" He replied. I pulled out my laptop and got the lyrics up, and we sang along to it for a bit. Laurance was... enjoying himself while singing. And he decided we needed to get the karaoke version up so we knew when to come in. To our dismay... there wasn't one. "I guess we'll just have to listen to the real song over and over again to get it down..." He said, disappointed. "Ya... I guess we do..." I replied, equally disappointed. We continued singing until lunch which was around 11:30. We got up and walked to the cafeteria, talking about the parts and possibly writing it down on a doc or a piece of paper what parts we had. "I like the idea of a doc, so it's easier to share, and it's harder to lose." Laurance said, as we get into line. I laughed nervously. "Yeah... I lose things... very... VERY easily..." I said, grabbing a tray. "Ya. Me too." Laurance said, also grabbing a tray. Today for lunch there was apple crisp. I was super happy about that. "We'll have to be doing solos too..." Laurence said, mindedly. "What?" I said quite enough for only him to hear. He stayed silent the rest of the time. He sat across the room from me. I didn't want to talk to anyone so I sat down where no one was. A whole bunch of the "popular" girls went to sit with Laurence. Garroth sat down with them, it was obvious he didn't like the girls there. I started to eat, when one of the girls must have told her friends to go make fun of me. "Hey, Loser. I like your hair." One of them said sarcastically, and my head shot up. Everyone looked at where we were. I felt my anger snap, but I kept it hidden. I heard someone playing the guitar, and it was the perfect song too.

I started singing aloud, I don't like fighting. This was the most peaceful way I could think of. I stood up, and faced the girl who said that, and I continued to sing, and everyone was staring me, even Laurance and Garroth were watching too. No one stood up to help me, so I continued singing, and no one said a thing. No one moved, and at the end of the song I left, back to the auditorium. I silently started crying in a corner the rest of the lunch time. After the bell rang the door opened, and Laurence walked in. "Angel, are you okay?" He asked, running up to me. "Ya... ps Thanks for sticking up for me." I said, kind of pissed off. "Ya... about that... Garroth and I were surprised you didn't start a fight... Fights with those guys are commen... ending up with the person who was bullied in trouble. I bet they were surprised too." He said, running a hand through his hair. "I found the song I want to do for the solo." I finally said, getting out my laptop. "What is it?" He asked as I pulled up the karaoke version of it. "Breakaway?" Laurence asked. I started to sing.

I've heard this songs many times, and it's one of my favorites. If not my favorite. I felt tears in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. Laurence started swaying a bit with his eyes closed. After I was done singing I wiped my tears. "Is this something I can do to? Cause we have to do the same song, different octaves though." He said, And I let him, but Garroth came out of nowhere and started singing insteed.

Laurance and I looked at each other before looking at Garroth as he continued singing. He was looking at the screen to see the lyrics. Laurence and I just kept looking at each other at random times during the song. And once he was done Laurence and I clapped for him. "Do they have to be the same song?" I asked Laurence. "No, but it's preferred." He said, looking at me. "Okay... I don't really want to do the same song... so I'll find myself a song and... you will find a song for yourself. Okay?" I said, as Garroth left. "Fine." He said, soon finding one, he started singing and I nodded my head.

He had a few tears in his eyes as he was singing. I realized I did too, and quickly wiped them away. And as I was thinking I realized we could both do this song for the solo. I didn't want to interrupt him while he was singing. I wasn't that rude. I told him once he finished singing that we could both do it, but then it was time to go home. "AW! All ready?" I asked, I was sad about that, but I was happy that we found a song. We were scheduled to practice the rest of the week and the next Monday is the contest. I wondered if Nicole was going to be there this year. She had always gone the years before. Laurence and I practiced silently at the back of the bus, I said bye to him as Garroth, someone called Zane, and I got off the bus. "Hey... want to come over sometime? My mom really wants to meet you." Garroth said. "Sure. I'd just have to tell my mom about it." I said. "That reminds me how old are you? Are you and Aphmau the same age?" Zane asked, looking at me. "Um... ya... we're the same age why?" I asked, he looked familiar. "He's in the same home room as you." Garroth said. "Okay... see you tomorrow then?" I asked. "Yup!" Garroth said, and started to walk to his house with Zane, and I walked into my house. I saw Levin was awake, and I played with him until mom woke up. "Thanks for watching Levin as I took a quick nap." She said, coming down the stairs and picking him up. "No problem!" I said as I walked up stairs. "Don't you have homework, missy?" She asked me. "Nope!" I said, before running up stairs to my room. I practiced my parts and tried to figure out my solo, but while I was looking I fell asleep...
~Agent A.J.~
