Chapter 9 - Be More Specific
Davis paced the Ravenclaw Common Room, reading through the list of names. It had been at least a week since the tryouts, and Davis had called back everybody so they could find out who made the team for the year. Ivy sat down on one of the armchairs, her hair was purple from being nervous.
"Our Seeker is Cho Chang." The 2nd year Asian girl smiled widely. "Our Beaters, Duncan Inglebee and Jason Samuels." The two boys in 4th year gave each other a high-five. Ivy tapped the armchair with her finger nervously. She felt like Davis wasn't saying the Chasers just to build the tension in the room. "For Keeper we have Grant Page. And the Chasers..."
Ivy sighed, trying to change her hair back to normal.
"And Chasers, we have me, Jeremy Stretton and Ivy Potter."
Ivy grinned, her hair turning yellow instantly. "Yes! Now time to show those Gryffindors that Ravenclaw is way better-"
"Potter." Davis warned. Ivy smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry. But you agree don't you?" She grinned at him and raised her eyebrows. He rolled his eyes in response.
"And that's the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team for this year!" The people who didn't make it groaned and dragged themselves back to their dormitories. "Sorry if you didn't make it! There's always next year!" They grunted in reply. Davis sighed with defeat and looked at the six remaining people. "Now, the rest of you. I expect all of you to show up for practise. Which will happen on Monday evenings, Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. This year though we have to win. And we will win."
"Of course we will." Cho stated. "We've got a pretty good team this year."
"Of course we do. We're in Ravenclaw." Ivy said.
"What do you have against Gryffindor anyway?" Jeremy Stretton asked her. She frowned at him.
"I don't have anything against Gryffindor-"
"Well you're always like, 'Time to show those Gryffindors-' "
"It's not Gryffindor I'm against. Just some members of the team. It doesn't matter." Ivy stated, getting annoyed.
"Isn't your brother in Gryffindor?"
"I said it doesn't matter!" Her hair turned orange and she glared at him. He nodded and looked away.
"And no fighting." Davis stated, pointing at the two. He flipped through the papers in his hand. "I think that's it. See you Monday evening." The team nodded and got up. The sun was starting to set and they had the perfect view through the windows. Ivy smiled and ran up the stairs. She opened the door to her dormitory to see Maria studying on her bed, Marvelle was cleaning her trunk and Willow Edwards was reading.
"Hey!" Marvelle looked up at Ivy and smiled. "Did you make the team?"
"No, unfortunately I didn't." Ivy rolled her eyes and grinned. Maria frowned and looked up.
"Did you really?" She questioned.
"Yeah! I made the team!" The girls cheered and Marvelle hugged her.
"I knew it!" She exclaimed. "Don't trick us like that!" Ivy shrugged and grinned.
"No promises." They rolled their eyes but smiled.
"When's your first practise?" Maria asked.
"Monday evening."
"Well you have to get lots of sleep-"
"Tomorrow's not Monday! Tomorrow is-" Ivy stopped suddenly and her expression saddened. "Halloween..."
They sighed. Ivy always hated Halloween. It wasn't that she hated all the sweets and Jack O Lanterns. But it was also the day her life was ruined. The day she lost her parents. The day she became parentless. And though she had Remus with her, she missed her parents dearly.
"Hey, it'll be okay." Marvelle hugged her and Ivy sighed.
"Yeah... I'm going to go to bed now..." Ivy climbed into bed and pulled the blanket over her face, covering her blue hair, which didn't have the normal bright vibe it normally did.
Ivy woke up the next day and sighed, staring at the ceiling. A part of her wanted to go home to spend the day with her Godfather but she knew she couldn't. She would often get homesick when it was Halloween.
Marvelle drew the curtain and sat on the edge of Ivy's bed. "Are you okay?"
"Fine..."
Marvelle sighed. "At least there's the Feast tonight. You know, all the sweets and chocolate-"
"Yeah cool..." Ivy turned away from her.
"I'm sorry Ivy. I really am. But I honestly don't know what to say-"
"It's fine."
"You could go prank someone." Maria said and appeared on the other side of her bed.
Ivy sighed, she could... but...
"Yeah! You could prank Snape-" Marvelle suggested.
"I always prank him." Ivy mumbled.
"Or McGonagall?" Maria added.
"No..."
"Flitwick?"
"I have no idea right now..."
"Roger Davis?"
"I just got on the team. I don't think pranking him would help..."
"Angelina Johnson?"
"I don't know.."
"Jordan?"
"I know how much you hate her but-"
"I don't hate her! I just-"
"Yeah... sure..." Marvelle rolled her eyes. "Um... that dude... in Slytherin what was his name again?"
"How am I meant to know?"
Marvelle and Maria glanced at each other. "Help." Maria mouthed.
"Well... um... whose that guy you really don't like?" Marvelle started.
"Be more specific." Ivy mumbled.
"Well you know-"
"No I don't."
"Oh come on!! You hate him! He has red hair, his twin is good-looking..."
Maria and Ivy looked at Marvelle with confusion. Marvelle, after realising what she said, turned dark red.
"Um... uh... you know... his name starts with F-"
"I know who you're talking about. Especially after you said 'his twin is good-looking'." Ivy stated and sat up. "But-"
"You know you want to."
"Well..."
"Come on Ives. You hate him."
"I know I hate him! But I have no good ideas for a prank..."
"Turn his hair pink?"
"Done that."
"When?"
"Well I've done that to someone else so..."
"How about Dungbombs?"
"Everyone uses Dungbombs."
"You could glue his trunk shut!"
"Do you have glue?"
Marvelle held up Ivy's wand and smirked. Ivy grinned and got up, before grabbing her wand.
"Right. Let me get changed. Then we're gluing Weasley's trunk." Ivy grabbed some clothes and walked to the bathroom.
"But he could like need stuff from his trunk..." Maria stated.
"Yeah, that's the whole point." Ivy stated, coming out of the bathroom, now changed out of her pyjamas. Maria sighed with defeat.
They walked to the Great Hall and sat at the Ravenclaw Table as usual. Marvelle and Maria thought Ivy was fine now, even though deep down she was still upset.
"So we find out the password." Ivy whispered to Marvelle. "Then we go to the boys dormitories-"
"Why are you going to the boys dormitories?" William Hiker, who wasn't far from the girls, asked with raised eyebrows.
Ivy looked at him and faked a smile, tilting her head to the side. "And we asked you to eavesdrop when?" She asked, turning her hair red.
William narrowed his eyes at her then continued eating, not saying anything else.
"That's what I thought."
Maria coughed, trying not to laugh and choke on her drink. Marvelle gave Ivy a high-five from under the table.
"Anyway, so we go to the boys dormitories and glue his trunk." Marvelle ended. Ivy nodded then said.
"Should we do George's too?"
Marvelle bit her lip and looked at her food.
"Yes you should." Maria answered for her. Ivy nodded.
"Alright, you guys done? Let's go." She asked.
"I'm not coming. Remember?"
"Oh yeah, well you don't know what you're missing."
"Yeah, I'm missing out on Pranking the Weasley Twins."
"Keep your voice down." Marvelle stated, taking a sip from her drink.
After they were done, Marvelle and Ivy said goodbye to Maria before walking to the seventh floor.
"Hey!" Ivy turned around and saw Harry Potter, with a bushy-haired girl and a redhead boy. She smiled.
"Hey Harry! How are you?" She asked.
"I'm good... you?"
"Alright. Have you gotten lost yet?"
"A few times." She laughed.
"Understandable." He smiled. "I got lost a few weeks ago now you mention it."
"Um... I wanted to ask you, you know what Quidditch is right?" Harry asked, his two friends looked at him. Ivy nodded.
"Of course. I'm one of the Chasers for the Ravenclaw team."
"Any of you know who the new Gryffindor Seeker is?" Marvelle asked. "The Weasley twins keep mentioning something about this mysterious Seeker."
"It's bloody annoying too..."
The three first-years stayed quiet for a minute until the bushy-haired girl said. "No, we don't."
"Hermione!" The redhead boy exclaimed. The two Ravenclaw girls frowned at the two.
"What? We don't, sorry."
"That's fine." Ivy said. "And also-"
"You wouldn't mind telling us the password would you?" Marvelle asked, causing them all to look at her in confusion.
"Why do you need the password?" Hermione asked them, raising an eyebrow. Marvelle and Ivy glanced at each other then Ivy said.
"Because George asked Marvelle to get something." Marvelle glared at her slightly but nodded. "And he's too lazy to get it himself."
"Well that's understandable..." The redhead boy said. The two girls nodded eagerly, ignoring Hermione's supicious looks.
"Ron!" She exclaimed. "Sorry, but we can't tell you because you're in a different house and a highly doubt that George would ask you to get something."
"Well have you met my brothers Hermione? They-"
"Sorry!" Ivy and Marvelle sighed and nodded in understanding.
"We understand." Ivy said. "Besides, why would you tell a couple of random Ravenclaw girls the Gryffindor password? That's... stupid." She added, shooting Marvellle a look. Marvelle rolled her eyes.
"Are you coming to the Quidditch Match tomorrow??" Harry asked quickly, before they walked off.
"Of course I am." Ivy smiled at him. "Why?"
"I was just... wondering. I'll be there too and I'll like to see you there."
"See you there then Harry." She smiled widely at him, which he returned.
The three first-years walked off and Ivy turned to Marvelle, then said, "Yeah casually ask a bunch of Gryffindors what the password is. Real smart."
"What? They could've told us! It was worth a try." Marvelle replied back.
"Sure. You know, there's a thing called sneaking into the Common Room right?"
"Oh haha. I knew that."
"Sure you did."
They walked over to the painting of the Fat Lady and sighed.
"Well if we would've gotten the password..." Marvelle started.
"I get it." Ivy rolled her eyes.
A Gryffindor second-year pushed past them, then said. "Caput Draconis." The Fat Lady nodded and the painting moved, revealing the entrance. The boy walked in, the portrait closed behind him.
Their eyes widened and they ran to the Fat Lady. "Caput Draconis." Marvelle said. The Fat Lady looked at them and raised an eyebrow.
"You are not in Gryffindor." She stated.
"But we know the password..." Ivy said, smirking. "So... Caput Draconis. Now let us in."
"I can not!"
"But we know the password." The Fat Lady sighed and her portrait moved. Ivy and Marvelle grinned and ran inside.
Not wanting to be seen by any Gryffindors, they hurried up the stairs on the left and walked to the third year boys dormitories.
"Is anyone in there?" Marvelle asked. Ivy placed her ear on the door and listened closely.
"Let's hope not." Ivy opened the door and they walked inside. No one was in there, much to their relief. "You're doing George's and I'll do Fred's."
"I thought we were only Pranking Fred." Marvelle stated.
"Remember this morning Maria said we should Prank George too."
Marvelle sighed with defeat and walked over to George's trunk. Ivy opened Fred's trunk and started to put glue on the top. Marvelle did the same. After they were done, they closed the trunks shut and tried to open them. No luck.
"That was fun. Good luck trying to open it." Ivy grinned and she looked up to see Marvelle walk out of the bathroom. "What are you doing?"
"I set up another prank." Marvelle said. Ivy nodded. "We better go before they come back."
"True." Ivy stood up and the two girls walked out of the dormitory quickly.
"What are you doing here?" They turned around quickly to see the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan.
"Um... well..." The twins raised an eyebrow at Ivy, who was trying to think of an excuse.
"McGonagall sent us to check on how clean your dormitories are!" Marvelle blurted out, turning the boys' attention on her.
"Why would McGonagall do that?" Lee Jordan asked.
"And why would she send two Ravenclaws?" Fred added.
"It's a new thing the head of the four houses have been up to!" Marvelle continued. "They want to see how clean everyone is keeping their dormitories and the reason they're sending us is because we're in a different house and they know that we will not lie about how incredibly messy your dormitory is!" Ivy mentally face-palmed at the last statement.
"I'm confused..." George started. "The Head of Houses want to see how clean everyone is keeping their dormitories so they sent you guys to check."
"Yes! And we have to report back to McGonagall now about your messy dormitory. I expect that she will be taking points off Gryffindor for not keeping everything tidy."
"Is this happening to the other houses?" Fred questioned.
"Of course! Ravenclaw is checking Gryffindor, Hufflepuff is checking Slytherin, Slytherin is checking Gryffindor-"
"Slytherin is Checking Ravenclaw." Ivy corrected. "Which leaves Gryffindor checking Hufflepuff."
"Wait so... Ravenclaw is checking Gryffindor, Hufflepuff is checking Slytherin, Slytherin is checking Ravenclaw and Gryffindor is checking Hufflepuff?" Lee repeated with confusion.
"Yes! Ravenclaw is checking Gryffindor, Hufflepuff is checking Slytherin, Slytherin is checking Ravenclaw and Gryffindor is checking Hufflepuff!" Ivy said quickly. "Try saying that five times fast..."
"Why weren't we told this?" Fred asked,
"Because you're not responsible enough and McGonagall doesn't like you."
Fred rolled his eyes and glared at her, she glared back.
"Anyway, we better go. Bye!" Marvelle grabbed Ivy's hand and ran down the stairs and through the portrait hole.
"Does that mean we have to keep our dormitory tidy?" George questioned the other two boys, who shrugged in response.
