Chapter 6 - Tea Leaves
The three girls walked into the Great Hall and sat down at the Ravenclaw Table. The doors opened and the first-years walked in, all looking rather nervous. Ivy saw Harry and waved, he waved back making her smile slightly.
"I still can't believe that Harry Potter is your brother." Maria said to Ivy, who rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I know. It's not that great if you ask me."
"How come?"
"Well I'm his sister. Our parents are dead. I haven't seen him in ten years and he has to go live with muggles." Maria frowned.
"Maybe you're right."
The first-years lined up in front of the Staff Table as the Sorting Hat began its song. Afterwards, Professor McGonagall started to explain the Sorting. After she was done, she took out the scroll with their names and called the first name.
"Abbot, Hannah." McGonagall called out. A little blonde haired girl with pigtails walked forward to the Sorting Hat nervously. The Hat covered her face and almost immediately yelled:
"HUFFLEPUFF!!" The Hufflepuff table, which was in the middle left stood up and cheered.
"Boot, Terry." A young boy walked up and he too was sorted.
"RAVENCLAW!!!" Ivy, Marvelle, Maria and the rest of the students house stood up and cheered. The boy smiled and ran to their table.
"We have someone in Ravenclaw!" Maria stated. "Hopefully some more."
"GRYFFINDOR!!" The hat yelled again. A bushy haired girl smiled and ran to the Gryffindor table, she sat near the twins.
The Sorting continued and Ivy cheered only for the Ravenclaws.
"Potter, Harry!" The Hall went quiet and Ivy looked up, hoping that he could be in Ravenclaw. Harry walked up slowly and people started whispering.
"I heard that his parents-" A girl who was nearby, whispered to her friend.
"What about his parents?" Ivy asked loudly. They looked at her and kept quiet. "That's why I thought."
"Hope he's in Ravenclaw?" Marvelle asked her. She nodded. It took ages, the Sorting Hat didn't yell anything but seemed like it was talking to Harry.
"GRYFFINDOR!!!!" Ivy sighed, slightly disappointed but cheered anyway. The Gryffindor Table stood up and cheered loudly. Harry sighed with relief and walked to them, sitting next to the bushy haired girl and the twins.
"We have a Potter! We have a Potter!" The Weasley twins were cheering and everyone was clapping.
"Oh well, it's alright I suppose." Marvelle said to Ivy. Ivy nodded and sighed.

At the start of their third year at Hogwarts, students are allowed to choose two elective classes. There options were: Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies, Divination, Care of Magical Creatures and Arithmancy. A part of Ivy wanted to choose Divination for fun. Trying to tell the future, and the Professor was apparently mad. She had no interest in Arithmancy. So that left Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies and Care of Magical Creatures.
"Which one are you going to do?" Marvelle asked her.
"Divination and... I don't know." Ivy answered and sighed.
"Well I'm doing Care of Magical Creatures and Arithmancy." Maria said.
"Arithmancy doesn't really interest me."
"You don't know what you're missing."
"Yeah, I'm missing out on Arithmancy."
Maria rolled her eyes. "What are you doing Marvelle?"
"Muggle Studies and Divination." Marvelle said simply.
"I'll probably do Ancient Runes. Sounds interesting?" Ivy looked at them.
"No not really..."
"Oh well. There, I'm done. Ancient Runes and Divination."
"Wait why are you doing Divination?" Maria asked.
"Why not."
Ivy and Marvelle said goodbye to Maria and walked to the Divination classroom which was in the North Tower. Marvelle opened a circular trapdoor and the two climbed into the classroom. It looked like a cross between somebody's attic and an old-fashioned tearoom. Many students were already there. Ivy recognised Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, Lee Jordan, Willow Edwards a Ravenclaw girl and William Hiker a Ravenclaw boy.
"Let's find a seat." Marvelle grabbed Ivy's hand and dragged her to a table.
"Alright alright. Slow down!" Ivy chuckled with amusement. They sat down at a table and waited for the class to start.
A woman walked to the front of the class. The professor had curly, brown hair and dark green eyes. She also had large, round classes. She paced the front of the classroom.
"Welcome children. In this room, we shall explore the noble art of Divination! I am Professor Trelawny." She bumped into a table but smiled. "Together we shall cast ourselves into the future!" No one looked so thrilled. "We shall study the art of reading tea leaves. In front of you is a cup of tea. When you are done, you shall swap with the person beside you and study their tea leaves. You will find the meaning in your books."
Ivy looked at the teacup in front of her. She slowly took a sip. "So we're drinking tea now..."
"I guess." Marvelle shrugged. They looked and everyone was drinking their tea. "How do we know it's not poisonous?"
"Well everyone else is drinking it. Might as well. Can you imagine if the Weasley twins were here?" Ivy started. "This place would be chaos."
Marvelle laughed. "True. It would be interesting if they were here-"
"They're annoying! We would get no work done if-" The door opened and two boys ran in. Both looked like they were out of breath. Everyone looked at them. Ivy spat out her tea in shock and hoped no one saw her. Marvelle grinned at her.
"Sorry we're late!" George panted.
"We got lost." Fred added and the two sat down. Ivy wiped her mouth.
"Bloody hell. I spoke too soon!!"
After they had finished drinking the tea, the two girls swapped cup and looked at the tea leaves. Ivy opened her book and searched for the picture that matched the tea leaves. She glanced at the twins who were actually doing work for once. She frowned and blinked a few times, not believing what she was seeing. That was until she saw Fred fake out a Dungbomb from his bag. Ivy rolled her eyes. Professor Trelawny walked around the classroom, making predictions. She walked over to their table.
"Your aura is pulsing Dear!" She exclaimed to Marvelle, who jumped in reply. "Are you into the beyond?!" Everyone stopped and watched them.
"What? Uh... yeah yeah I guess..." Ivy held back a laugh, making Marvelle send her a glare.
"The cup. What does the cup say Dear?"
Marvelle looked at the cup, turning it around every now and then. She flipped through her book.
"Well... Ivy's got some wonky cross... and that means trials and suffering."
"Oh lovely!" Ivy said loudly with all the sarcasm she had. Some people laughed.
"And um... some sort of thing which I can't read... so yeah."
Trelawny nodded, somehow pleased at Marvelle's prediction.
"And what about you Dear?" The professor asked Ivy.
She sighed and looked at Marvelle's cup. "Marvelle has the sun of happiness.... so-"
"So while Ivy's suffering, Marvelle's happy." Fred stated, looking at the girls with amusement.
"I guess." She shrugged. Marvelle frowned.
"What a happy friendship you two will have." The two girls glared at him.
"What?! This is a load of sh-" Ivy stepped on Marvelle's foot from under the table quickly. "Ow!"
After the lesson, they walked out of the classroom, not so pleased with their predictions.
"Well that was lovely!" Marvelle exclaimed. "While you're suffering! I'm happy!"
"It doesn't matter. You said it yourself. It's a load of sh-" Marvelle stepped on Ivy's foot. "Ow! What was that for?!"
Marvelle grinned. "You did it to me!"
"Oh look I'm suffering and you're happy." Her grin faded.
"Haha very funny. But I don't get it. You're going to be suffering and I'll be happy!"
"So? At least you're not suffering."
"But you are."
"Don't worry about it. Divination is rubbish anyway."
"Then why did you take it?" The two girls turned around to see Fred and George.
"Because..." Ivy sighed. "Fred-"
"George." He corrected. She groaned.
"Fred, Gred, Forge and George. Whatever." The twins rolled their eyes. "I took it for fun-"
"Wow, Potter. Wow." Fred said, shaking his head. Ivy glared at him.
"Why did you take it then?" She crossed her arms.
"Because I wanted to see what they say about the teacher is correct. Oh well she predicted George would die..."
"What?!" Marvelle exclaimed, now very angry. "Not you too!!"
"Well she predicts someone dies every year. But no one has. Right?" George stated.
"But still! I'm happy! You're dying! Ivy's suffering! What are you doing?!" Marvelle pointed at Fred who sighed.
"I'm going to be fighting off with a dragon but I'll get the dragon to burn Potter first." Fred rolled his eyes.
"What?!" Ivy exclaimed.
"I was joking! Merlin's Beard..."
"So what? George is dying, Marvelle's happy, I'm suffering and Fred is fighting a stupid dragon."
"That's offensive to the dragon."
"It's a dragon!" Ivy yelled with annoyance.
"See this is why you're going to get burnt first-"
Ivy rolled her eyes. "Whatever, now I need to go to Ancient Runes-"
"That's such a boring subject though!" Fred complained. Ivy raised an eyebrow.
"Have you done it before?"
"Well no..."
"Exactly. Marvelle I'll see you later."
"Bye!"
Marvelle turned to the twins. "I agree with you though. Ancient Runes does sound boring."
"Have you done it before?"
Ivy walked off and searched for the classroom. She frowned and looked around. She glanced at her timetable and sighed.
"Wrong floor lovely." She raced to the staircases. One she reached the step, it started to move in the other direction. Ivy groaned loudly and looked at her watch. "Now I'm late." She ran up the stairs and looked around. She turned left and started walking, now confused on where to go. "You think after two years I would finally learn how to work around this place." She muttered to herself and sighed.
Ivy continued running, now getting anxious. Late on the first day? Perfect first impression.
"Excuse me!" Ivy turned around and saw a girl who looked around her age. She had blonde curly hair that was done in a ponytail. The girl ran up to her, panting. "Hello, you don't know the way to the Ancient Runes classroom do you?"
"No, I'm trying to find it." Ivy replied and sighed. She looked at the girl, freckles covered her nose and she had dark brown eyes. She noticed the snake symbol on her Robes. "Third year?"
"Yeah. That obvious?"
"No, I'm in my third year too. And-"
"The classroom's just there!" The girl pointed to a classroom across the hall and Ivy sighed with relief.
"Let's go!" They both ran to the classroom. Ivy opened the door and the two girls ran in, out of breath. The teacher looked up and frowned.
"You're both late."
"We're sorry." Ivy said, trying to catch her breath.
"We got lost." The Slytherin girl added. The Professor narrowed her eyes at them.
"Very well, 10 points from Slytherin and Ravenclaw." Ivy sighed with disappointment. "I'm Professor Babbling. Now both of you sit down and let's continue with the lesson."
The Slytherin Girl turned to Ivy. "Well that was fun."
"Yeah." She said in agreement.
"I'm Jordan." She held out her hand.
"Ivy." Ivy shook her hand and smiled.
"Potter?"
"Yep."
"Cool." They both sat down as Professor Babbling continued about the Numerical Runes.
