Chapter 4 - If They Knew
"Oh look you're late. Again." Ivy said loudly as the Weasley Twins walked into the Transfiguration classroom. Fred glared at her as they sat down behind them.
"Thank you Ms Potter for that assessment." McGonagall said, glaring at Ivy slightly. "Now continue your work." Ivy started writing down notes.
"Professor, what are we doing?" Fred asked, putting his hand up.
"Maybe if you were here earlier you would know." Ivy said innocently, still looking at her work.
"I'm sorry but is your name Professor?"
"Of course not. Maybe if you were smarter you would notice."
"So is that the guy from the Detention?" Maria whispered to Marvelle, who nodded.
"Well I'm sorry! I'm not that stuck up to be in Ravenclaw." Fred stated. Ivy turned around and glared at him.
"Well you're not smart either." He glared back. "And at least I'm not so arrogant to be in Gryffindor."
"Ms Potter and Mr Weasley!" McGonagall yelled and the two looked at her. "Please pay attention!"
"Of course. I'm terribly sorry, Professor." Ivy said and started writing down notes again.
A few minutes later, small paper balls were being thrown everywhere. Most .people ignored them. One had hit Maria, who got so annoyed that she ripped the piece of paper into shreds. Many had started hitting Ivy's back.
"Oi Potter." Fred whispered.
"What?" Ivy said with annoyance
"Gee that's rude."
"Well I'm sorry." She said sarcastically and turned around. "Yes?"
"Nothing." He grinned. Ivy sighed with annoyance and scrunched up a piece of parchment into a ball and threw it furiously at him. The ball had unfortunately hit Fred in the eye. "Ow!"
"Good." Ivy said simply and continued doing her work.
"Professor, Ivy's being annoying." Fred stated loudly. McGonagall looked up.
"Ms Potter! I expect better from you! Ten points from Ravenclaw!" She said sternly.
"What?! But Professor he was throwing-"
"Do you want a detention too?" Ivy sighed with slight annoyance and stopped. She shot Fred a glare and stared at her books in anger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There she was again. Ivy was in the corridors, past curfew walking back to the Ravenclaw Tower. She just finished Pranking McGonagall when she heard noises from behind her. Ghost noises even. Ivy stopped suddenly and looked around.
"Who's there?" She asked cautiously. "Lumos." The small light appeared on her wand and she looked closely at the Marauders' Map, trying to find where she was.
"Beware..." A voice said spookily. Ivy turned around and walked towards the voice, her wand held up high.
"Hello?" She walked up to behind a suit of armour. Someone touched Ivy's shoulder. She screamed and turned around quickly, punching the person in the face. The person fell down to the floor, clutching his nose.
"Ow..." The person groaned.
"Oh my Merlin! I'm sorry!" Ivy helped the person up and looked at them. The person had red hair. "You!" She pushed the redhead twin back down.
"Ow! Look, I'm George! Not Fred!"
"Oh really?!" Ivy crossed her arms. George got up slowly.
"Yes!" She raised an eyebrow. "Maybe..."
"Fine! Where's your twin?"
"Right here." Fred said, appearing on Ivy's other side. "Hey Ivy! Fred, why are you holding your nose?"
"What? But you just said you're George. And now you're George?" Ivy pointed at the two, who grinned.
"I'm George." The second twin said. "The one you punched is Fred." Ivy smirked at Fred, who glared at her.
"I think you broke my nose..." Fred groaned and sighed.
"Well what are you two doing here at night?" Ivy asked.
"Pranking." George said. "You? Where's Marvelle?"
"She didn't want to come. Worried she would get detention. And I was Pranking McGonagall."
"What's this?" Fred picked up the Marauders' Map, which was on the floor. Ivy's eyes widened. "Is this yours?"
"Yes..." She said.
"What is it?"
"A piece of parchment. Can I have it back now?"
"Why is there- is this a map?"
"I told you! It's a piece of parchment now give it!" Ivy grabbed it, but Fred held onto it.
"Why is there so many footprints?"
"Fred, give it."
"Wait I'm looking."
"Fred."
"Shush."
"Fred!" Ivy snatched it off him.
"I was just looking, where'd you get it?" Fred asked.
"That's for me to know and for you to not find out. Now I have to go. Goodbye." She walked off.
"Okay. Bye." They said in unison and walked off the other way.
Ivy was shaken awake by Maria and Marvelle the next morning. After she got changed they headed down to the Great Hall for breakfast. They sat down at the Ravenclaw table and started eating.
"Where were you last night?" Marvelle asked Ivy, putting butter on her toast.
"I went out." Ivy stated.
"Pranking, again." Maria said.
"Well yes."
"What did you do?"
"I just pranked McGonagll. That's all, then I ran into the Weasley twins..." Marvelle laughed and Ivy shot her a look.
"What happened?" Marvelle asked, failing to contain her laughter.
"Well they tried to scare me and they tried to act like the place was haunted-"
"We have a lot of ghosts here Ivy." Maria said.
"I know! Anyway, so I accidentally punched one of them-" Marvelle laughed again, almost chocking on her food.
"Which one?" Marvelle grinned slightly.
"Well firstly he said he was George-"
"What?! Why did you punch him?!" The two girls looked at her.
"Why do you care...?" Ivy raised an eyebrow.
"No reason." Marvelle turned away from them and took a sip of her Pumpkin juice.
"But then he turned out to be Fred."
"Oh good!" Maria and Ivy looked at Marvelle again. "Because, you know, he's annoying."
"Yeah... then he grabbed the map-"
"He took the map?!" Maria exclaimed.
"I took it off him!"
"Okay, good. Because if that map got into the hands of Fred and George Weasley. Do you know how much trouble that we cause! If they knew the secret passageways and Where-"
"Yeah, I know. I don't even know all the secret passageways yet. I only know a few..."
"Well you need to start learning them. But actually study first." Ivy smiled and rolled her eyes.
After they finished breakfast they headed up to the Ravenclaw Tower, to grab some books. Ivy walked to her bed and grabbed the books that she had left. She looked over at the bedside table where she had left the map. Nothing was there.
"Oh my Merlin!" Ivy exclaimed. She dropped all her books and ran to her bedside table. She emptied all her draws hastily. "Where is it!?"
"Where's what?" Marvelle questioned. Ivy ran to her trunk, almost slipping. She opened her trunk and threw everything everywhere, desperately trying to find the parchment.
"The map!! Where's the map?!"
"I didn't have the map! And you better clean all this up..." Marvelle dodged a flying shirt, which Ivy threw.
"I will, I will." Ivy ran a hand through her hair. "Where is it?!"
"You lost the map?" Maria said.
"No!" Ivy looked down at her empty trunk and sighed. "Yes..."
"Well you said Mischief Managed when you were done right?"
"Of course I did!"
"Then you have nothing to worry about. Unless they have Padfoot or Wormtail as a Godfather then they can't figure it out right?"
"Yeah, yeah I guess..." Ivy said slowly, looking under her bed. She grabbed a piece of parchment. "I found it!"
"Really?"
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." Ivy tapped her wand on it and nothing happened. "No! Wrong parchment!" Maria and Marvelle sighed.
"You don't think the twins came in and stole it?" Marvelle asked.
"No of course not!" Ivy said, standing up. "They wouldn't be able to figure out the riddle!"
