Chapter 16 - A Few Times
"So you broke your wrist in Quidditch, but then decided to continue playing until the match had finished?" Remus repeated slowly and raised an eyebrow at Ivy, who grabbed her trunk and pulled it through the door, well she tried to anyway. Her wrist was not helping at all. Remus sighed and grabbed her trunk before bringing it inside.
"Well when you say it like that, it sounds stupid." Ivy said and sat down on one of the chairs at the table. They had arrived back home after their last day of Hogwarts and both girls couldn't wait to start their holidays, however Ivy hated having a broken wrist.
"It was stupid." Marvelle stated and Ivy rolled her eyes. "Honestly for someone who was sorted into Ravenclaw-"
"It was against a Gryffindor! What did you want me to do? Fly down and stop playing the game?"
"Yes!" Remus and Marvelle said in unison and Ivy sighed, rolling her eyes.
"Who hit the bludger to you?" Remus asked.
"Fred did." Ivy answered. He nodded.
"Ah yes, the infamous Fred Weasley." Marvelle looked at both them and laughed.
"Sorry, infamous?" Marvelle asked, trying her best not to laugh.
"He is not infamous!" Ivy yelled immediately. "I've just mentioned him a few times."
"Yes a few times, of course." Remus repeated. "You said he's annoying and stupid and-"
"And spends all his time trying to out-prank me." Marvelle finished, grinning. "Oh so you've heard it too?"
Ivy rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "My pranks are better..."
"Of course they are better, Ivy." Remus reassured. "Nearly as good as your father's pranks."
Ivy's eyes lit up and she immediately grinned. "What sort of pranks?"
Remus smiled slightly and sighed. "I don't know if I should tell you or not..."
"No please tell me!" She sat down on one of the chairs in front of the bench and looked at her godfather like she was an excited child who found an extra Christmas gift in their stocking.
"You're going to get in trouble if you do these pranks-"
"So?"
Remus sighed with defeat and Marvelle sat down beside Ivy. "Fine I'll tell you. And you might want a notebook, this could take a while."
~~~~~~~~
Marvelle and Ivy's holidays were filled with pranks, letters, Quidditch (where Ivy found out that Marvelle made a decent Keeper while she made a terrible Keeper, of course she didn't want to admit it), letters from Maria, chocolate and in Marvelle's case, letters from the Weasley Twins.
"I swear they love you." Ivy stated as Marvelle read through her from the two twins.
Marvelle scoffed and sat down at the table. "They do not." Ivy sat down beside her and grabbed a parchment and quill. She sighed and thought for a minute, who was she going to write the letter to?
"Oh look, Ivy they mentioned you." Marvelle stated and tapped Ivy on the shoulder. "Also can you ask Ivy if she has heard anything from Harry this summer, Ron has been sending letters but getting no answers."
Ivy looked down at the letter which had the words, Dear Harry. She sighed. This was around her 5th letter to her brother but she had not recieved a reply from any of them.
"So Ron's not getting anything either?" Marvelle nodded and gave her the letter. Ivy looked at the bottom and started reading.
"Fred and I have a plan to see Harry. Ron had asked him if he wanted to stay over at our house but there was no reply and its been a month. Also, we don't know how his aunt and uncle are treating him. So if Ivy wants to participate in the plan and see Harry, get her to send us a letter soon. George." Ivy finished and set the letter down. "I wonder how his aunt and uncle are treating him..."
"Aren't they your aunt and uncle too?" Marvelle questioned. Ivy thought for a moment then sighed, leaning back against her chair.
"Yeah they are." Ivy stood up quickly, nearly knocking the chair down, and walked to Remus' room. "Remus!"
The door of the room opened and Remus stood in the doorway. "Yes?"
"Do you know anything about Harry's Aunt and Uncle?"
Remus frowned slightly and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. "Why?"
"No one has recieved any letters from Harry."
Remus frowned even more and he crossed his arms. "No one has heard anything from him, since when?"
"Since school finished. So did you know them?"
"Unfortunately... yes." Ivy snorted and covered her smirk with her hand.
"Unfortunately?"
"They're not the most pleasant people..."
"Remus Lupin," Ivy said with a smirk and crossed her arms. "You should not call muggles 'unpleasant people'."
He glared at her slightly. "I'm not calling all muggles unpleasant people. Your mother's sister hated her, and everything to do with magic and her husband is the exact same. They hated us and were terrible to your parents."
"Why?" Ivy asked, now frowning with confusion. Remus shrugged.
"I think she was jealous... but they were also scared of us." Ivy grinned slightly then smiled innocently.
"Okay, thanks Remus!" She said then ran off. Remus frowned then nodded slowly, walking back into his room. Ivy sat back down at the table and grabbed her quill and parchment.
"I can't believe I'm writing a letter to the Weasley Twins." She said to Marvelle and started writing. Marvelle laughed slightly.
"Why are you writing to the Weasley Twins?"
"To ask about this plan of their's." Ivy answered. "Hopefully, they answer soon."
The Weasley Twins answered two days later, which was shorter then Ivy expected. They told her their plan and what, when and where it was going to happen. Ivy was very surprised and also thought it was impossible. She was sure the idea was illegal and had no idea how they were going to do it, but she agreed to it. All she had to do was tell them her address, stay awake all night on the 31st of July, and not tell Remus, which was easier said then done.
So Ivy lay there, staring at the ceiling and glancing at her watch every now and then. Marvelle had fallen asleep a few minutes before. Ivy groaned and checked her watch again. 10:59.
"Screw it." She mumbled and turned on her side. She started to close her eyes when a bright beam of light appeared on her wall in front of her. Ivy's eyes widened and she sat up. She turned to her window and squinted her eyes at the sudden brightness. She opened her window and gasped. A flying blue car was in front of her. Inside the car, driving the car was Fred Weasley, beside him George and at the back, their younger brother Ron.
"Fred! George! Ron! How in the name of Merlin did you get a flying car??" Ivy asked immediately and gaped at the muggle object in front of her. They wound down the window.
"Our Dad enchanted it. He's fascinated by muggles." Fred stated and grinned. "And we told you it was a flying car."
"Well I didn't believe you." She said and smirked, crossing her arms. Fred rolled his eyes.
"Wow... so are you coming or not?" George asked. "And is Marvelle coming too?" Ivy glanced behind her and sighed.
"She's asleep and I don't want to wake her. But I'm coming." She climbed on the window sill and George opened the door. Then her eyes widened.
"Wait, what phase of the moon is it?" Ivy questioned and the Weasleys frowned at her random question.
"How are we meant to know?" Fred asked, raising an eyebrow. Ivy sighed and looked at the sky. She found the new moon and nodded. The full moon was around a week ago.
"New moon," She mumbled. "Yeah that's fine, I can come." George grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. Ivy pushed herself inside and sat in the middle of the two twins.
"Ives, you're at the back." George stated as he closed the door and Fred started to drive. Ivy moved to the back and sat next to Ron.
"Why?"
"Because you're younger than us and we picked you up last." Fred said in an obvious tone. Ivy frowned and glared at him.
"Hey! I'm the oldest here! When's your birthday?" She asked and crossed her arms.
"April." The twins said in unison. Ivy grinned with triumph.
"My birthday's on the 15th of March, so I am older." The twins glanced at each other then sighed.
"Fine, but you'll get grey hairs first." Fred mumbled and grinned slightly to himself.
"Hey!"
The rest of the journey was filled with small conversations and Ivy yelling at Fred to watch where he was going. Finally, they made it to a boring looking neighborhood where every house looked the same.
"How do we know which house is his?" Ron asked, looking at all the houses.
"Let's try that one." George stated and pointed to one of the houses. "It has bars on one of the windows."
"Wait why does it have bars on the window?!" Ivy shouted and Fred shushed her, causing her to glare at him. Fred drove to the window and a young boy with messy black hair and round glasses around his emerald green eyes appeared in front of them.
"Ron! Fred! George! Ivy!" Harry exclaimed and smiled widely. "What are you doing here?!"
"Rescuing you of course." Ron answered and smiled back.
"Well come on, get your stuff." Ivy stated. "And why are there bars on your window?"
"Um..."
"Stand back." Fred said and George grabbed a grappling hook. He attached it to the bars and Fred turned the car around and drove off, causing the car to pull the on the window and break the bars. Fred drove back and opened the trunk.
"Need any help?" Ivy called out.
"Yes please!" Harry answered and Ivy turned to Fred. Fred looked at her then gave a dramatic sigh of annoyance. He drove the car so that it was on the side and Ivy could climb out. Ivy opened the door then turned to Fred.
"Thanks Freddie." She said and smiled innocently.
"Yeah yeah, be quick." He replied, rolling his eyes but smiling slightly. Ivy placed her foot on the window sill and pushed herself out of the car. Harry grabbed her hand and helped her through the window.
"Thanks." Ivy stood up properly and looked around the small room. "Now, where's your trunk?"
Harry pointed to the door slowly. "Downstairs in the cupboard under the stairs." Ivy nodded and walked to the door. She turned the doorknob and pulled but the door didn't budge. She frowned then pushed the door forward, but the same thing happened.
"Why is it not opening??" Ivy asked anxiously, pushing and pulling the door furiously. She turned the door lock and pushed again.
"Potter! What's taking so long?!" Fred yelled.
"The door is not opening!!" She yelled back. The Weasley twins glanced at each other then climbed out of the car.
"Ron, take the wheel!" The twins yelled in unison.
"What?!"
The Weasley twins walked over to Harry and Ivy. They pulled on the door and nothing happened once again. Fred turned to Ivy.
"Do you have any bobby pins?" He asked. Ivy frowned at his question.
"Some what?"
"Bobby pins, hair clips. In your hair?"
"I know what you're talking about. I'm not stupid and I actually use hair accessories, believe it or not." Ivy ran her fingers through hair and pulled two pins out. She gave them to him and Fred crouched down. He put the pins into the lock carefully and started playing around with the lock. Eventually, the lock clicked and the door opened.
"How'd you do that?" Ivy asked, staring at the lock with wide eyes. Fred stood up and smirked at her. He threw the pins at her and she caught them, now turning to him.
"Fancy muggle trick. Most wizards don't bother with it but it's a good trick to know." His smirk grew wider at her shocked expression. "Speechless, are you Potter? That's the first."
Ivy blinked rapidly and pushed him out of the way, "Shut up, let's just go." She said and walked out of the room. The twins and Harry followed her.
Ivy looked around the incredibly clean house. Not a smudge of dirt or dust was in sight. She also saw photographs of a family of three. The father was rather fat and reminded her of a walrus with a giant black mustache. The mother was the opposite of her husband, she was very thin and had a long neck. The boy in the photos (there was lots of photos of him) looked like a smaller version of his father.
"This place is really clean." Fred muttered, looking around.
"Yeah, Marvelle would love it here." George stated and Ivy let out a laugh, nodding in agreement. She turned to Harry.
"How come there are no pictures of you?" Ivy asked, frowning.
"Um... well..." Harry thought for a moment. "I don't like being in photos that much."
"Right..." Ivy narrowed her eyes at him but nodded. "So who's this boy in these pictures?"
"That's our cousin, Dudley." Her eyes widened.
"Our cousin?" Harry nodded.
"The cupboard doors locked." George stated, kneeling next to Fred in front of the cupboard under the stairs.
"Why don't you do your 'amazing muggle trick'?" Ivy stated, using air quotation marks.
"You have the pins." The twins answered in unison. She sighed and gave them her pins again.
"Wow, we keep outsmarting you tonight. Are you feeling okay Potter?" Fred asked innocently and placed the back of his hand on her forehead. Ivy slapped his hand away.
"Oh just hurry up." The twins did the trick again and opened the cupboard door. They pulled out Harry's trunk, wand, broomstick and other stuff. Ivy grabbed his broomstick and started walking up the stairs. They walked back to Harry's room and put Harry's trunk in the boot of the car.
Fred and George climbed into the front of the car when a loud voice shouted, "POTTER!!" Both Harry and Ivy froze and turned to the door. They could hear thundering footsteps coming closer and closer. The door burst open and the walrus man appeared, red with fury.
"Get in the car Harry! Go!" Ivy yelled and grabbed Hedwig's cage. Harry grabbed the cage and jumped in the car, sitting down beside Ron. Ivy followed but Harry's uncle - or Ivy's uncle as well (much to her horror) grabbed her ankle before she could get through the window. George grabbed her hand and tried to pull her out of the muggle's grip.
"Petunia! He's getting away! HE'S GETTING AWAY!" Their uncle yelled and tugged at Ivy's foot. A thin woman and a rather fat, pig-like boy appeared in the doorway.
"Let go of me!" Ivy shouted and turned to the muggles, when she remembered what Remus had told her. Their mother's sister hated their mother and was often jealous of her. They treated James and Lily terribly. Both of the muggles had feared wizards and anything to do with magic.
"Come on Ivy!" Fred yelled at her and started to help pull her up too.
Ivy concentrated hard and changed her appearance quickly. She turned to the muggles and shouted, "Let go of me!!" The woman shrieked loudly, causing her husband to jump and let go of Ivy. Fred quickly pulled her into the car and she closed the door.
"Put your foot down, Fred!" Ron said hastily and Fred drove away from the house as fast as he could. Ivy sat down beside Harry.
"SEE YOU NEXT SUMMER!" Harry shouted and waved at the Dursleys, causing them all to laugh.
"Also, Happy Birthday Harry." Ron said and Harry smiled at him.
"Yeah, Happy Birthday." Ivy repeated and smiled at her brother.
"Who's appearance is that?" He asked, pointing at Ivy, who's smile grew wider.
"Our mother's." Ivy moved her red hair out of face and looked at her reflection in the window. She had fiery red hair and it almost matched the Weasleys' famous red hair. Her eyes were emerald green, identical to Harry's. She leaned back against her seat, her hair slowly going back to dark blue and her eyes turning hazel.
A few hours later, Fred stopped the car in front of Ivy's bedroom window. Ivy opened the car door then her window and climbed into her bedroom. She turned around and smiled at the Weasleys and Harry.
"Well, thanks for the ride." She stated.
"You're welcome." Fred said and smiled at her. Ivy smiled back.
"I'll see you guys when school starts."
"Or before then." Fred continued and looked down, lightly turning red but no one noticed. "Maybe."
"Okay. Just um... s-send me a letter." Ivy suggested, not meeting their eyes as she stumbled on her words. Her hair turned light pink with embarrassment. Fred nodded and smiled.
"Come on Fred, let's go!" Ron said loudly and Fred nodded. The boys waved goodbye to Ivy as they drove off to the night. Ivy watched them and let out a sigh as they disappeared and closed her window. She lay down on her bed and it wasn't long until she fell asleep.
