Chapter 15 - The Last Quidditch Match
"But when would Snape want to steal-"
"What's Snape stealing?"
The three first-years looked up and Ivy raised an eyebrow at them. Ron and Harry looked at Hermione, who looked down and started. "Well... um-"
"I'm not that scary." Ivy said jokingly and sat down in front of them. "Am I?" They shook their heads quickly. She had been looking through the shelves for a book that would help her with her homework when she had overheard the conversation between the three first years.
"Should we tell her?" Hermione whispered.
"Can we trust her?" Ron whispered back.
"She's my sister, we can trust her." Harry stated.
"She's also right here." Ivy said, stating the obvious. "Just tell me and I won't tell anyone." She smiled at them reassuringly and the three first-years glanced at each then sighed.
"A few weeks ago, Harry, a boy named Neville and I got a detention..." Hermione whispered and Ivy gasped.
"Detention?! Well that's very irresponsible!" Ivy said in a stern voice, then laughed. "Oh who am I kidding, I got detention in the first week."
"You got detention in the first week? How? What did you do?"
"Just a prank on the Slytherins. Filch caught Marvelle and I on our way back to the Ravenclaw tower then gave us detention. We met the Weasley twins there too, and they've been annoying me ever since." Ivy stated and let out a sigh.
"Anyway, you forgot to mention that Malfoy joined us in detention too." Harry said and Hermione nodded. "Well for our detention we had to go to the Forbidden Forest and help Hagrid with something-"
"To the Forbidden Forest? That's weird... Lucky, but weird. Who gave you detention?"
"Professor McGonagall."
"Even weirder..."
"Well that's not the only weird part." Ron said and looked at Harry and Hermione.
"We had to look for a unicorn, because Hagrid found unicorn blood and-" Hermione sighed. "I don't think we should tell her anymore."
Ivy frowned and her hair turned light green with curiosity. "No no no, you can tell me. You have to tell me now anyway because you can't leave me wondering why a unicorn was murdered in the forbidden forest."
"Well, I found the unicorn and saw..." Harry sighed and leaned in to her. "Someone drinking the blood..." Ivy gasped in disgust and stared at him.
"Did you see who it was?" He shook his head.
"No, they were wearing a long cloak. They nearly attacked me but then a centaur chased them off. We think the person was..." Harry glanced at Hermione and Ron again. Then he whispered. "Voldemort." At this, both Ron and Hermione shivered in fear.
Ivy's eyes widened. "It can't be Voldemort... You killed him, well sort of. My godfather's told me that it was like he was ripped from his body and his spirit fled or something like that..."
"Exactly! So it is a possibility that it could be You-Know-Who." Hermione stated and Ivy bit her lip.
"Well yes... it's understandable because if you're dying and you drink unicorn blood then you'll stay alive but live a cursed life. But Voldemort's already dead so it can't be... but it could..." She frowned in confusion.
"Should we tell her the other thing?" Ron asked and Ivy raised an eyebrow at them.
"There's another thing?" Ivy repeated. The three first-years sighed.
"Have you heard of the Philosopher's Stone?" Harry asked her and Ivy thought for a minute. "Well..." Before he could continue, Hermione stood up and walked over to one of the shelves. She grabbed a large book then brought it to Ivy, she opened to one of the pages and pointed to the starting sentence. Ivy pulled the book closer to her and started to read.
"Nicholas Flamel is the only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone. The Philosopher's Stone is a legendary substance with astonishing powers. It'll transform any metal to gold and produces the Elixir of Life which will make the drinker immortal and blah blah blah..." Ivy said and rolled her eyes, closing the book. "I already know this stuff, what does this have to do with Voldemort drinking unicorn's blood?"
"How do you know this stuff? It's not taught in classes." Hermione asked. Ivy looked at her and gave her a 'Really?" look.
"I'm a third-year Ravenclaw." She stated and leaned forward to her. "I read."
"The Philosopher's Stone is being hidden, here at Hogwarts." Ron stated. "And Snape wants to steal it for You-Know-Who."
Ivy blinked and stared at them. "Hold up... What?!" They sighed deeply.
"Let's start from the beginning." Harry said and sighed. "Remember how at the start of the year, Dumbledore said that the third floor corridor was forbidden to all students?" Ivy nodded. "Well we happened to stumble across a room on the third floor corridor because we were running from Filch. In the room was a giant three-headed dog."
"A three-headed dog? Here in Hogwarts? That is so cool."
"It's not cool when it's trying to bite your head off."
"We saw that the three-headed dog was standing on a trapdoor, which means it's guarding something." Hermione added.
"And you think that something is the Philosopher's Stone?" Ivy asked and they nodded. "But how would you that it really is the Stone?"
"Because Hagrid told us." Ron said. "Well he didn't tell us on purpose, he mentioned Nicholas Flamel and that the dog was his and his name was Fluffy."
"Fluffy the three-headed dog?"
"Yeah, he also mentioned that there were other things down there too. Like traps and enchantments." Hermione started again. "But Snape knows how to get past it and he's going to steal it!"
"So let me get this straight, The Philosopher's Stone is hidden here in Hogwarts, protected by many traps and enchantments and a giant three-headed dog named Fluffy. And soon, Snape is going to try and steal it." Ivy concluded.
"Yes," Harry answered. "And we need to go down there tonight to stop-"
"No you won't!" Ivy yelled as her hair turned red. The three first-years jumped at her sudden shout.
"Shush!" Someone whispered and she sighed, before rolling her eyes.
"Look, I'm normally the person that's like, 'Screw the rules. Rules are meant to be broken.' But you don't know what type of traps are down there! You could get seriously injured or even killed!"
"But if we don't then Voldemort could come back." Harry replied quickly.
Ivy sighed deeply. "You can't risk your lives though, it's dangerous and no offence, but you're all in first-year. There's no way you can get past the traps."
Harry, Hermione and Ron sighed with defeat. "Fine we won't go."
Ivy nodded and stood up. She looked at her watch. "I better go now, promise me you won't go down there?" They nodded and she walked off.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay everyone! Over here!" Davis yelled to the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team and the team walked over to him. "If we win this game, then we win the House Cup." This caused the team to cheer. "Now we have a larger advantage because the new Gryffindor Seeker, Harry Potter is not able to play-"
"What?!" Ivy interrupted and she frowned at Davis. "Why is he unable to play?!"
"I don't know Ivy." He answered. "All I know is that he is in the Hospital Wing-"
"WHAT?! Is he okay?!" Before Davis could answer they heard the commentator, Lee Jordan's voice.
"WELCOME TO THE LAST QUIDDITCH MATCH OF THE YEAR!! GRYFFINDOR VS RAVENCLAW!!" Cheers from the stands could be heard and they all mounted their brooms. Ivy sighed and shook her head, changing her head back to dark blue and silver streaks like she did in every Quidditch she played in. The Ravenclaw team kicked off the ground and flew onto the pitch.
Ivy searched the Gryffindor Team and could see that Harry wasn't there. What had happened? Why was he in the Hospital Wing? She searched the students on the bleachers as well, she saw Marvelle and Maria but couldn't see Ron or Hermione either. Please tell me they didn't go down that trapdoor and try find the Philosopher's Stone...
The Quaffle was thrown in the air and Ivy snatched it before Angelina could get it before racing to the Gryffindor goal posts. She passed the Quaffle to Stretton who threw it into the hoop, but it was blocked by Oliver Wood, who threw to Alicia Spinnet.
The three Ravenclaw Chasers flew towards her and Ivy pushed the girl to the side. Alicia dropped the Quaffle and Ivy grabbed it. She passed it to Roger Davis who threw to Stretton. Stretton threw the Quaffle into the left hoop, scoring for Ravenclaw. The Ravenclaw supporters cheered and the Quaffle was given to Katie Bell.
Ivy flew towards her as she dodged a Bludger and turned around to see Fred smirk at her. She glared at him furiously and gripped her broom tightly.
"Oh it's on..." She muttered to herself and flew as fast as she could towards the Quaffle.
So far, the two teams were tied. The Bludgers were zooming past nearly everyone. Ivy sped to Angelina and pushed her to the side. Angelina screamed and let go of the Quaffle, Ivy grabbed it and raced to the other side.
Ivy shot upwards, trying to block the Bludger that raced towards her. She threw the Quaffle furiously at the goalposts, but Oliver Wood grabbed the Quaffle and threw it to Alicia Spinnet.
Ivy sighed with annoyance and followed Davis to the other side. Davis took the Quaffle off Katie and raced to the goalposts again.
"Ivy!" Davis called out and threw the Quaffle at her. Ivy reached out and grabbed it, earning cheers from the Ravenclaw supporters. Ivy turned to the goalposts and threw the Quaffle as hard as she could, only to have a Bludger whiz past her and smash into her wrist.
"AMAZING SHOT FROM FRED WEASLEY!!!" Lee Jordan commentated. Marvelle and Maria gasped loudly and placed their hands over their mouths in shock.
Ivy bit her lip as a searing pain shot through her wrist. She almost fell off her broom as she looked at her wrist with wide eyes. Fred's eyes widened and a wave of guilt passed him.
"BUT POTTER SCORES!!! TEN POINTS FOR RAVENCLAW!!"
The cheers from Ravenclaw erupted again, but Ivy's two best friends were too worried to do anything. Ivy smiled weakly and sighed deeply in pain. She couldn't move her hand, she tried only to have more pain spread through her hand. Ivy grasped her broom with her other hand and turned it with much difficulty. She pushed forward and flew slowly to the other side.
"Keep going Ives..." She said to herself. "Your wrist is fine..." Though, she really wanted to stop lying to herself.
Ivy flew towards the other side, where Jeremy Stretton had the Quaffle.
"Ivy! Go down!" Stretton yelled at her.
"Pass me the Quaffle!" Ivy yelled back. "I can still play-"
"Your wrist is broken-"
"Pass me the Quaffle!!"
"You need to rest-"
"Pass me the Quaffle now!!"
Stretton sighed. "Don't say I warned you..." And he threw the Quaffle at her. Ivy threw her arm in the air, catching the Quaffle. She held back a scream and flew towards the goalposts. Her hand felt weak and sore as she threw it again. Ivy missed the goal terribly and her hand slipped from her broom. She struggled to get up. George flew towards her.
"Ivy! How's your hand?!" George asked loudly.
"It's... fine." Ivy muttered and got up slowly.
"Ivy-"
"CHO CHANG CATCHES THE SNITCH!!! RAVENCLAW WINS!!!" The Ravenclaw supporters cheered once again and Ivy grinned widely.
"Ivy come down." George said again. "The game's finished." Ivy nodded and sighed, flying down slowly. George followed her and everyone landed back on the ground.
Maria and Marvelle ran to the Pitch, rushing towards Ivy. "Are you okay?!" Maria asked quickly.
"You should've come down!" Marvelle stated.
"But I'm fine." Ivy reassured them and sighed. Marvelle raised an eyebrow.
"Show me your hand..." Ivy looked at her badly bruised hand and winced slightly. Maria picked it up slowly.
"Ow...."
"Yeah, you're absolutely fine." Maria said and rolled her eyes. "Let's get you to the Hospital Wing. I'm sure Madame Pomfrey can fix that in a heartbeat." Ivy nodded and sighed.
"Yep, take care Ivy." George said and patted her back. "I'll come visit later."
"Yeah, thanks George." Ivy smiled at him and he nodded, returning the smile.
George looked up and his eyes landed on his twin, who was watching them sadly. "I got to go. I'll see you guys later."
"Bye." George ran over to Fred. Ivy, Marvelle and Maria walked off.
"How is she? Is she okay?" Fred asked quickly. George nodded.
"Yeah, she's fine. Relax okay?" George stated and patted his twin's back.
"Honestly I didn't mean to hit her that hard-"
"I know. Come on, let's go." Fred sighed with defeat and the twins walked over to the rest of the Gryffindor Team, who all looked like they lost a war.
When they walked into the Hospital Wing, the first thing Ivy noticed was her little brother lying down on one of the beds. She gasped and walked over to him. He had scars on his face, well other the lightning bolt one.
"Oh Harry, what happened to you?" Ivy mumbled and sighed.
"Ms Potter! What are you doing?" She turned around and Madam Pomfrey walked quickly over to her.
"To come visit my brother."
"To come and see you about her wrist." Marvelle corrected and held up Ivy's wrist, which made her wince in pain. "She broke it in Quidditch."
Madam Pomfrey looked at her wrist and gasped. "Well come on then! Why didn't you come earlier?!"
"Because the game was on..." Ivy mumbled and the nurse rolled her eyes. She grabbed her other hand and dragged Ivy to another bed.
"All you Quidditch players, I'm surprised no one else is here with you. You two can go now," Madam Pomfrey said to Marvelle and Maria, who both sighed.
"Fine, we'll see you later Ives."
"Bye." Ivy said to them and they both walked out of the Hospital Wing.
"You'll have to stay here for a bit longer." Madam Pomfrey said to Ivy once she had finished bandaging her wrist.
Ivy frowned. "Why?"
"Because who knows what you'll be doing later, you could damage your wrist even more."
"I'll be careful with it. I swear."
"Don't make any promises Ms Potter."
"Do you not trust me or something?" Ivy asked. Madam Pomfrey gave her a looked then walked to her office. Ivy sighed and lay down on the bed.
"Hey," Ivy looked up and smiled softly. It was Fred, he was still in his Quidditch Robes and had a worried expression on his face.
"Hey," Ivy greeted. Fred walked over to her.
"How's your wrist?"
"Oh it's fine." Ivy held up her wrist, which was now covered in bandages. "It's just bruised and broken but other then that it's fine."
Fred nodded. "Listen, I'm really sorry-"
"It's fine, really I don't care. That's Quidditch for you." She sighed.
"I didn't mean to hit so hard-"
"Fred it's fine, really. Besides, everyone told me to stop but I kept going, probably why it's broken now." Ivy looked at him and smiled slightly. "Aww Fred Weasley is worried for me. Seriously don't be-"
Fred smiled and sighed. "You are very determined Ivy, honestly. That's one thing I... admire... about you..."
Ivy looked at him. Her hair turned dark pink then back to dark blue very quickly. "T-Thanks..." She looked down, her hair's never turned dark pink before.
"You're welcome. I'll see you around, get well soon Ives."
"See you later Freddie." Fred smiled at her and was about to walk off when Ivy sighed and sat up. "Hang on wait." Fred turned and walked back to her.
"I want to thank you." Ivy said.
"For what? Breaking your hand?" Fred replied jokingly.
Ivy laughed slightly. "No. I want to thank you for not going easy on me when it came to Quidditch, or anything really."
"You're welcome, and that won't change one bit." Fred added and winked at her. "See you later." Fred smiled at her and walked off. She smiled then sighed, leaning back against the bed, deep in thought.
