"NIKKI!"

We both turned to the rooftop door and saw Trev, Bailey, Kaitlyn, Trish, Kyle, Jeremy, Justin, and Phia, all standing there, mouths hanging open and eyes wide. Adam and I both laughed at their expressions, because hey, who wouldn't? They all looked like they've seen an 18+ movie scene for the first time.

When they finally got back into their senses, Bailey rushed to me and hugged me, while Kaitlyn hugged Adam, too.

"You made us worry back down there, Nikki! Running away like that..." She frowned, but then she gritted her teeth and slapped my arm. "Don't you ever do that again or else!"

I grinned at her and pointed at Adam. "Tell that to him. If ever he plans on committing suicide agai--"

"I wouldn't, and I would never do that again. I've learned my lesson." Adam cut me off, glaring at me. I just smiled sweetly at him, blew him a kiss, before turning back to the others. I caught sight of Trev, who's at the very back of the crowd. I pushed past the others, and when he saw me approach him, his eyes widened, but then he pulled himself together and shook his head at me. I frowned at him before pulling him into a tight hug.

I snuggled closer to him. "I'm sorry, Trev. I really am. I'm sorry for locking you in there, even if all you ever want is to protect me and be with me, but, I just thoug--"

He pressed his point finger to my lips, silencing me. He grinned down at me, messed with my hair, and hugged me back. "No need to say sorry, pig. I understand. I'm sorry for shouting at you back there. You really scared the shit out of me, running away like that and all. I'm just glad you were able to stop this moron from jumping and killing himself."

I pulled away from him but still snuggled close to him and looked at Adam, who's still hugging Kaitlyn. I still can't believe that they're cousins. Oh well. Science. You can't always predict things. "Yeah, I'm glad I followed what my heart and mind was saying a while ago. We wouldn't know what could've happened to him if it weren't for me."

He chuckled and rested his chin on my head. "That guy's head got some loose knicks and nails. And I'm pretty sure you can fix those."

I nodded. "I just hope I would."

"So, will I still be your prom date?"

I grinned at him. I owe this guy a lot, so maybe it's just right to still be his date. "Of course."

After a few minutes, the school government arrived and took us downstairs and we were checked up by the school medical team and clinic. Then, when they've assured that we're fine, Mr. Woods, our school principal, called us to his office to talk to us. Those are the worst forty-eight minutes of my life, and probably the most awkward. Mr. Woods asked us some questions that were about "us" and about the reason why Adam attempted suicide. I swear my skin got paler than how it really is before.

Even if something like that happened, the school administration decided to not postpone the prom, but instead, moved it to 7:30 pm from 6:00. But even so, they still called in our parents, and they weren't very happy with what happened, too.

I mean, who would be? Adam attempted to commit suicide and I stopped him, and even if he wouldn't want to change his mind, if he wants me to, I would also jump with him. My dad wasn't very happy to hear that, though. But I'm glad that he didn't get mad at Adam. Adam's parents on the other hand, though, didn't let that pass. After our talk with the principal, Mr. and Mrs. Evans excused themselves so that they could talk to Adam privately.

Mom and Dad took me home so I could prepare for prom. Kaitlyn and the others went home ahead of us, too, probably because they still have to get their gowns from the shop.

"Honey, what would you want to eat? I can ask Annie to go cook for you." Mom said as I slouched on the couch, loving the softness and fluffiness of the pillows. "Can I eat pizza and baked mac?"

"Please?" I said when she was about to scold me. She sighed and fished out her phone from her bag and walked away, making me scream victory. "Eight cheese pizza, eight slices, make them add more cheese to the baked macaroni, and upgrade the soda to soda float! Love you!" I yelled before scrambling up the stairs and entering my room.

When I saw a black gown bag, a golden shoe box, a big box from Tiffany & Co., and a paper bag from Victoria's Secret, I can't help but let out a squeal of excitement.

I've never been so excited for prom until today.

After a few long hours of sitting in front of the mirror with all the bobby pins attached to my hair, the make-up artist finally finished my make-up except for my lipstick, because I'm still waiting for the pizza that I ordered a few minutes ago.

"Thanks, Nina. You're the best." I said to my mom's personal make-up artist. She's a family friend and I'm really proud of her because even if she's a transgender, she doesn't let all those people who criticize their community affect her and her work, in fact, it's her inspiration. She wants to prove them wrong, that they're not a burden to the society and will never be.

A knock on the door made us both look at the door then she turned to me. "Go on, dear. Slip on that gown so we could see if we still need to adjust something. I'll go see who's at the door."

I thanked her before grabbing the gown bag from my bed and entering my bathroom. I stripped out of my clothes and kicked off the comfy and fluffy bedroom slippers I'm currently wearing, and the cold tiles of the bathroom gave me the chills.

I took out the gown from the bag and examined its fabric and details, and right then and there, I already knew that the gown's perfect. I slipped it on carefully as to not tear the gown. I pulled it up to my chest and inserted my arms into the armholes.

"Nina, can you zip it up for me, please?" I said as I went out of the bathroom and turned my back to her. She reached up and zipped it, patting my back. I faced her and smiled at her.

"You're one of the most gorgeous and stunning ladies that I've ever seen in my whole life! The dress fits you perfectly, but the way you make it look like while you're wearing it? You look like a Disney princess that came out of a fairytale book."

"Awww, thank you, Nina!"

"By the way, Kaitlyn sent you this." She handed out a blue box with a small paper attached to it.

Nikki,

Wear this! I'll tell you why you need to later but please wear it! Can't wait to see you! :*

Kait

I lifted the lid of the box up and inside, a silver band is sitting prettily inside, on a white velvet foam. I took it from the box and examined it closely, running my fingers on the gold engraved letters of my name, Nikki. I slipped it on before facing Nina.

"Who was at the door?"

"Just your Mom. By the way, what's inside the box?" She asked, and then when her gaze trailed down my arm, she can't help but gasp.

"Your friends are damn rich bitches." I can't help but laugh at her statement as she shook her head.

"I think so, too."

A honk startled us, and when I looked outside my window, I saw Trev's Hummer outside. I waited for him to go out so I could wave at him, and when he did, I couldn't help but drool. His maroon coat hugs his figure completely, showing that it was really made for him and him alone. He wears a black slacks along with it, and his dress shirt inside is of black, I think. But what shocked me the most is his tie. Even from up here, you could see the silver letter T at the bottom of it. I stifled a laugh. Ugh. What a proud man. I waved at him and raised up five fingers, to which he seem to have guessed what it means.

"Ooh, is that your date?" Nina giggled as she started packing up her palettes, brushes, lipsticks, and curlers. I brushed past her and grabbed the shoe box from the chair and slipped on the killer heels.

"Uh-huh. Do you want me to introduce you to him or nah?" I teased. She laughed at me then resumed what she's doing.

"No thanks. I'm not into young men and I'm certainly not a pedo."

"Whatever you say, Nina. Whatever." I said before grabbing my purse from my bed and walking to the door. "I'm going. Do you want a lift home?"

"I brought my car with me and I still need to get something from my office so thank you for the offer." I nodded at her before going out of the room.

"Nikki?"

"Coming!" I yelled as I slowly descend down the stairs. Then I saw Trev sitting on the couch opposite to the couch where my Dad is, and I think they're having a good time. From what I can see from here, they're laughing and smiling.

"Oh look at my gorgeous lady! I knew you would look good in that gown, I just knew it!" My Mom squealed as she helped me down the stairs and looked at me from head to toe. I swear I saw her eyes twinkle but I wouldn't tell her that.

"Hey, pig." Trev stood up and grinned at me, and I can't help but return it. He's just too handsome to resist

But of course,

Adam's the most handsome for me ;)

"Hey, big. I love your tie." I giggled as I pointed at his tie. He tugged at it and showed it to my parents with pride, showing his perfect white set of teeth. "Why thank you, gorgeous one. I love your bracelet, too."

"I think it's time for the two of you to leave now, wouldn't want to get caught up in a traffic jam, eh?" Dad said as he winked at me. Uh, what does that mean?

"Wait, wait. One picture, then you guys can go." Mom piped up as she took out her phone and positioned in front of us

"Let me do that for you, Laura." Nina said as she got the phone from my Mom. Mom stood beside Dad and Trev placed a hand on my back

"Say Nina is pretty!"

"Nina is pretty!" We giggled as the camera flash went off.

×××

"Have a good evening ahead, sweetie. You too, Trev." Mom said as she pecked my cheek. Trev gave her a salute. "Thank you, Mrs. Thompson."

"Take good care of our princess, Trevor. Have fun, dear." Dad said as he stood beside Mom. I rolled my eyes at him. "Dad, stop calling me a princess."

Trev just laughed at us and nodded at him. "I will, Mr. Thompson. No need to worry."

"Bye, Mom, Dad." And with that, I closed my car window and we drove off

"Are you excited for tonight, pig?" He suddenly asked out of the blue, getting my attention. I was playing with the bracelet, running my fingers through the engraved letters. I looked at him before responding, "Of course I am. Why? Aren't you?"

"Why would you think that I'm not excited? Of course I am! Can't you see how ecstatic I am? GO GO NIKKI! N TO THE I TO THE K TO THE K AND TO THE I ALL AROUND THE WORLD YAYY!" He cheered like a slutty cheerleader, and I can't help but roll my eyes at him and laugh at his actions. He looked like a crazy prostitute and I'm irritated by his expression but it just added to my laughter. I even have to press my tummy to lessen the pain I'm feeling, I feel like throwing up.

"Stop that!" I said as I press my tummy harder. He kept on making girly sounds, and it's irritating the hell out of me. I don't even know why I'm laughing.

I reached out for the radio and turned it on to tune out the annoying sounds that he's making, but when I heard the song on the radio, I mentally cursed and committed suicide.

"Oh dear God, please remove from my friend the devil possessing him right now. It'll be the death of me." I said as I threw my hands up in the air and massaged my temples. It's going to be a long night.

"OMG, CHEERLEADER'S ON!" Trev giggled like a little girl beside me, and he tapped his fingers on the wheel as the song went on.

"WHEN I NEED MOTIVATION, MY ONE SOLUTION IS MY QUEEN CAUSE SHE STAYS STRONG, YEAH YEAH!"

"OMG Trev, stop! It's irritating!"

"SHE IS ALWAYS IN MY CORNER RIGHT THERE WHEN I WANT HER, ALL THESE OTHER GIRLS ARE TEMPTING BUT I'M EMPTY WHEN YOU'RE GONE. SHE SAID, "DO YOU NEED ME", " DO YOU THINK I'M PRETTY", "DO I MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE CHEATING", AND I'M LIKE NO, NOT REALLY CAUSE~"

"Lord, save me..."

"OH I THINK THAT I'VE FOUND MYSELF A CHEERLEADER! SHE IS ALWAYS RIGHT THERE WHEN I NEED HER!"

"OH I THINK THAT I'VE FOUND MYSELF A CHEERLEADER! SHE IS ALWAYS RIGHT THERE WHEN I NEED HER!"

Good Lord. Save me.

×××

"Come on, pig! Live a little!" Trev nudged me and I responded by sticking out my tongue. Childish, I know.

Damn jerk. He sang a total of five songs--scratch that, more like he yelled them, and I swear my ears would be bleeding any time now because of the aural torture. I gave him the deadliest glare I could muster, but when he gave me his chipmunk face (he makes his cheeks appear round by putting air in them, then he'll cross his eyes, and then pull his nose up, trust me, it's freaking hilarious), I exploded into fits of laughter.

"Oh! I love this song!" I exclaimed as the intro of the song rolled in, and I tapped my fingers to the beat. He just laughed at me and tapped his fingers, too.

"Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces passed and I'm homebound..."

"TENENENENENENEN TENEN TENENENENENEN TENEN~"

"Enough with the instrumentals, big! It's annoying!" I yelled and giggled at him as I hit his arm repeatedly

"Why, it's fun and I wanna join an acapella group someday."

"What the hell, seriously?" I can't help but laugh at him. He's so damn hilarious and it hurts, literally hurts because my tummy hurts so bad right now.

"Here comes the chorus!!!"

"IF I COULD FALL INTO THE SKY, DO YOU THINK TIME WOULD PASS ME BY. CAUSE YOU KNOW I'D WALK A THOUSAND MILES IF I COULD JUST SEE YOU, TONIGHT!"

"TENENENENENENEN TENEN TENENENENENEN TENEN TENENENENENENEN TENEN TENENENENENENENEN TEN~"

We sang the song until we're drained out, and we collapsed back on our seats while laughing. I think I don't have enough energy to dance for prom later. Big already drained every ounce of energy I have left.

We came to a halt and I took that as a chance to drink water. My throat hurts so bad, I hope I wouldn't have a sore throat tomorrow.

"Let me check on what's happening out there so that we can find an alternative route to school." He opened his car door and got out, not even waiting for my answer. I just shrugged it off, reached for his jacket that's sitting on the backseat, draped it over my shoulders and leaned back, resting my head on the soft cushion of the car seat.

(Honk!)

(Honk!)

(Honk!)

"Are we there ye--"

I stopped mid-sentence when I realized that Trev's not beside me. Ugh, I fell asleep. Great. Good thing all those honks woke me up.

Hold up--HONKS?!

I looked around, and yupp, we're still in the same spot as earlier, in the middle of a traffic jam. I fished out my phone from my purse to check the time, and I was shocked to see that it's already 6:48, and we only have twelve minutes before the prom starts. I tried calling Trev, but then he left his phone on his seat. I can't help but curse. Where is that jerk?

I turned off the engine of the Hummer and got the keys before I stepped out, the chilly night air giving my bare skin goosebumps. I don't care what they say about me--an escapee from mental hospital--I don't give a damn. I still have a Trev to hunt down and a prom to attend to.

And besides, I still have to dance with Adam.

I hugged myself as I walk pass by the cars, looking for Trev. I wanna scream his name out but then I don't have anything against all the noises around me--car honks, metal colliding, construction noise, yelling--it's better if I'll save my voice for later.

After five minutes of search, I finally went back to the Hummer, hoping to find him there, all red and furious because I left, but then I was surprised by nothing. Literally nothing. No Trev. No lectures. No curses from his big mouth.

'Right. I could hail a cab from an alley a few streets away from here, but then, what should I do with his Hummer? I can't just leave it here in the middle of the traffic jam. Damn you, Trev. I wouldn't have to worry about these things if you're here.' I said to myself, and I kicked the wheel of the Hummer. I looked up at the screen playing the ad of Krispy Kreme then I looked down at my feet. I kicked my heels off, held them in my right hand and I climbed up the Hummer. Once on top, I searched for him, but he's nowhere to be found. I sat on the car roof and placed the heels beside me and waited.

Suddenly, I can feel my toes vibrating. I stood up and almost slipped, good thing I was able to hold on to the metal railing. I looked down, and to my surprise, I saw Trev's phone, which I placed on the windshield, vibrating. I can hear a song coming from it, so I leaned my head against the mirror to hear it.

"Wherever you go, whatever you do~"

"I will be right here waiting for you..." I sang along, feeling every word piercing through my heart. Yupp, I've always been waiting for him, and now, he's already here, and everything else feels right.

"Oceans apart, day after day, as I slowly go insane..."

I looked at the source of sound, and saw Adam on the screen--the exact screen that was playing the ad of Krispy Kreme earlier--and he's the one who's singing the song. I looked around to find him, but I can't find him anywhere. What the hell is he doing?!

"I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn't stop the pain..."

A stage was placed in the middle of the intersection, and a band was playing on the stage, and there he is, a microphone in hand, smiling at me. He waved at me and flashed me his dashing smile, which I can't help but return.

I can't believe that this is happening.

"If I see you next to never, how can we say forever?"

Then he walked on top of the cab in front of him, then on the other, and another, until he's on the car in front of the Hummer. He closed the distance between us and held me close, and I want to wipe that flirty smile off of his face. Why, you ask?

BECAUSE IT'S FREAKING MELTING ME OHMAYGHAD

"Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you. Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks, I will be right here waiting for you."

He threw the mic away and I heard someone hiss and curse. Oh-oh.

"Sorry, dude!" He yelled back as I laugh at him. He turned back to me and pinched my nose and I slapped his hand away.

"You're so cute, you know that?"

I stuck out my tongue at him and turned away. I heard him laugh and he hugged me, burying his face in the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent.

"Would you want me to take you to prom?"

My heart skipped a beat. I can feel my blood going up to my brain. My intestines rise up to my throat, and I can feel my kidney jumping inside me. But I was still able to roll out the words from my lips.

"Of course."

He grinned at me, held me close, leaned his forehead against mine and giggled.

"I didn't know you like to giggle." I teased, caressing his face with my right hand. He held my hand and looked at my eyes and laughed. "Then if hearing me giggle makes you happy, then I would be glad to giggle for the rest of my life for you."

"I love you, Nikki."

"I love you, Adam."

He claimed me, even if from the start, I'm already his. From the day we met until the day we'll die, I'm his, and that won't change.

Guess this promposal would be the one that I wouldn't forget, after all.

~FIN~
