Promposal XI

"Go easy on me, Harry." Bill said as he positioned himself to bat.

Harry clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Sorry, dude. Today's not your day."

"We'll see about that." Bill smirked.

One out, a runner in second, bottom of the third inning. Craig's team includes Greg, Drew, Frank, Mike, Andre, and Harry who plays as the pitcher of the team. While our team, led by Trev, includes me as their pitcher, Troy, Ray, Bill, Oliver, and Ethan. We decided to just have six innings today, because Trev and I still need to go to school for the rehearsal.

Harry raised up his hands, the baseball warm in his hands, flexed, and released the ball. Bill knew it was coming and stepped his foot down and swung.

"Go Bill!" We all cheered as he ran to the first base.

"Third! Third! We can't make it to first!" Mike, the other team's catcher, said to Frank. Troy is running to third base, but the ball's fast. He decided to slide and reach the base by his foot.

"Safe!"

"Go Troy! I love you!" Bill cheered from the first, and Troy blew him a kiss back. "Love you too, babe." We all chuckled at their exchange.

I stood up, my steel bat clutched in my hand. I adjusted my cap before stepping in the batter's zone and positioning myself.

"Good luck, Nikki." Mike said as he kneeled down. I grinned at him. "Thanks. Not that I need it."

"Modest, are we?" I just grinned at him and positioned myself.

"THAT'S MY GIRL! GO PIG!" I heard Trev cheer from the dugout. That made me smile.

"You're going down, Nikki." Harry pointed a finger at me as he placed the sandbag on the ground.

"Don't hold back."

"I'm not planning to." I grinned at him

He raised his hands up, flexed, and released. It's a fastball, but it's a ball. I didn't swing my bat and just waited for the umpire.

"Ball!"

"MY GIRL'S EYES ARE FROM A TIGER! GO PIG!" Trev cheered again. Then soon, the others did the same.

Harry released the ball, and something's weird with the pitch.

"Curve ball." I mumbled before stepping in and swinging my bat. I popped it up.

"Run, pig, run!"

I started running to first base, and at the corner of my eye, I saw Troy running for home.

"IT'S GONE! IT'S GONE!" I looked up and saw the ball just in time fall in the other side of the wall of the field. I felt myself grin.

Now that's what I call a home run.

"You're all set!" Oliver, our team's catcher, said as he threw me back the ball. I caught it with my mitt and took out the sandbag.

Top of sixth inning, with our team leading. 6-2. Greg's the first one at-bat.

"Mademoiselle." He greeted. "May I?" He gestured to the batter box. I nodded at him and he positioned himself.

"Don't strain yourself, princess. Go easy."

I smirked at him as I hid my sandbag. "Never, Gregory."

Oliver asked me for a fastball. I grinned at him. A fastball always makes the pitcher alive.

I raised up my hands, flexed up my knee, step, and released the ball. Greg didn't swing at it, and it landed firmly in Oliver's mitt.

"Strike!"

Greg laughed and shook his head. "Wow. That just went " Braaahhh!". How scary."

Oliver asked for a forkball. I nodded at him and did as I'm told.

"Foul!"

"Princess, I told you to go easy on me. I'm not that good." Greg said

"Sorry. 'Easy' is not in my dictionary."

The next pitches were a fastball to the outside, a curve ball, and a fastball to the inside. Ball one. One foul. Two strikes. He's already cornered. I grinned at Oliver. He nodded and asked for my special pitch.

A while ago, before the game started, Oliver talked to me about my pitches, weaknesses and strengths. He told me his plans and strategies, and it made me look at him with awe. He's a true leader, and a great one. No wonder he's a catcher. Mostly, the catchers are the ones who become the captains of their own teams. I won't be surprised if he's the captain of his own, too.

I released the ball, putting all my strength in my fingertips to the ball. Greg stepped his foot forward and swung his all his might.

The umpire whistled. "Strike! Batter out!"

Our teammates from the dugout cheered, and I could hear them chanting my name.

"NIKKI! NIKKI! NIKKI! NIKKI!"

"NICE PITCH!"

"THAT'S NIKKI, MY PIG, MY GIRL!" I heard Trev yell from the dugout. I looked at him and blew him a kiss. He acted like he caught it and kissed his hand, then he threw it back to me. I caught it with my mitt and shouted an "I love you!" to him. He pretended to faint.

He straightened up and flashed me a boyish grin. "I love you too, pig."

"Do you guys really have to go? We can still play a few more innings."

"We love to stay and play, but we still need to rehearse for prom." Trev replied to Andre as he zipped close his duffel bag and threw an arm over my shoulder.

"That was one hell of a change-up, Nikki. I didn't expect it to drop like that. And your form's weird. I can't even see where your throwing arm is, so I don't know when the ball is released." Greg said

"What can I say, I'm a one hell of a pitcher." I grinned

They walked us to Trev's car from up the road. "Thanks for everything, guys. It was nice meeting you. You guys are awesome." I said as we stopped in front of the car.

"No prob, Nik. It is a pleasure to meet you." Craig said

"I expected you to be a bitch but damn! You proved me wrong! I feel so intimidated by you. Your baseball skills are just--ugh!" Mike flashed me a toothy grin.

"If ever you'd want to play again, I'm always here to be your catcher." Oliver piped up

"Will remember that, sir." I smiled at him

"I'll see you soon." Trev said before he opened the door to the passenger seat for me. I looked back at them and smirked. "Bye, guys. Hope to see you again."

Trevor got in the car, too and started the engine. "You had a good time?"

I grinned at him. "I had a GREAT time, Trev. Thanks."

"Goodbye and good riddance!" Greg yelled before we drove away, sending us away with laughs.

"Good morning, Mom. Morning, Dad." I pecked their cheeks before going to the kitchen to get a bottled water for Trev. He's waiting in our living room and already greeted my parents. They didn't seem to mind, though.

"How's the thesis going, dear?" Mom asked as she placed her plates on the sink. Our maids are in a day off today, that's why my Mom and Dad are here with me.

I shrugged. "It went fine. Though we still haven't finished it yet."

"What time would you be home later, honey?"

"Around 3-4, maybe."

"Okay. I'll call the designer to deliver your gown by 1."

I went up to my room and took a quick shower and slipped into my dark green v-neck shirt and black ripped jeans. To finish the look, I wore my black strappy heels.

I descended down the stairs and was about to say an apology to Trev when I found my Dad talking to him. It seems that they're talking about something serious because Dad's using his polite and calm tone, while Trev just nods at everything he says. After a few minutes, they started laughing. When Dad noticed my presence, he patted Trev's shoulder before walking up to me.

"Headed to school?" He asked. I politely nodded and muttered farewell before following Trev out the door.

"So, what? Did he threatened you or strangled you?" I asked when we finally exited my subdivision. He took a right before coming to a stop because of the red light.

He laughed. "He did not, pig. He just asked about Adam."

"Figures. He is probably curious and confused of why he's not with me and I'm with you instead." I said, trying to sound nonchalantly

"Forget about that. Want some McFloat and fries?" He asked as he stepped on the gas again.

I grinned at him. "You're the best, big."

"I try."

We decided to just order to the drive thru, since we both don't want to go out of the car to just buy. He ordered two Banana Minion McFloat and two large fries.

When we drove forward to the receiving window, I saw a guy in a gray hoodie in front of the main entrance to McDonald's, the hood over his head, walking with a girl who is wearing my jersey shirt that was from our freshman batch before. I'm sure that it's mine because there's a number 06 print at the back and above it is my surname, Thompson.

To my surprise, they both turned around, and I just wish that they didn't.

The guy is Adam, and the girl's Kaitlyn.

Eep! Mystery girl's revealed!

Yepp, Kaitlyn here is our mystery girl. Haven't you guys noticed the hints from the previous chapters? ;) Tell me if you expected Kaitlyn as the mystery girl. Do you know why?

NiVor moments again! I love writing Nikki and Trevor because Trev's so sappy and funny while Nikki just plays along with his games and stuff :)

My monthly exams just started so I may not update for a few days. My studies is more important than other things but I'll keep writing :) I just won't be able to update though.

Please understand! And our school fest is nearing so we'll have so much things to do like dance rehearsals and practice here and there, making of props, and fitting of costumes.

Vote, comment, share, recommendddddd!

I really appreciate the support you guys are giving me! Thank you!

Hugs and Kisses,

Nicholle
