Promposal X
"Oh my God, are you serious?!"
He chuckled at my reaction. "Of course I am! Surprised, pig?"
I gaped at him. "Surprised?! I'm not! I'm shocked a-and stunned! You p-play baseball?!"
He looked at the field and waved at someone, and when I looked, he placed his arm across my shoulder and pulled me to him. "Yeah. My dad's a baseball player before. He was a cleanup."
"T!"
We both turned to our back and saw a guy in a baseball attire, the colors a combination of white, blue, and yellow. He has a helmet on which I think the catchers use and a mitt.
"My, my! My friend!" Trev chuckled before doing a handshake with the guy.
"You forgot my name?" He took off his helmet and pouted. Damn. He looks like a penguin and I just wanna squeeze him.
"No, not at all! Stop messing with me, Greg."
Greg just laughed and messed with Trev's hair. Then the latter just swatted his hand away.
"Don't mess with my crown, man! Don't you see that I brought my girl with me?"
Greg looked at me and flashed me a smile. He bowed down to me in a very royalish way.
"I apologize for my actions, mademoiselle. I did not realize that he brought such a fine woman." Greg said
Trev snorted at Greg and pushed him lightly on the shoulder. "Cut the crap, Gregory. It doesn't suit you."
Greg pushed him back. "I told you to not call me Gregory. I sound like some Greek god or something."
I giggled at that and spoke up. "What? Like Zeus, Ares, or Hades? Something like that?"
He turned to me and grinned. "Now you're keeping up, babe."
Trev shoved him aside and clinged to me. "Ignore him, pig. Come, I'll introduce you to my squad, my agapi mou."
He led me to the dugout where his friends are. They're all dressed up in baseball attires, and suddenly, I felt out of place. I'm wearing Trev's black long-sleeved polo which I tied the ends in a knot and rolled up the sleeves, to which he said that I made his polo look sexy. Underneath it, I wore her sister's white camisole. Then for my bottom, I wore her sister's jean shorts. The fact that I'm the only female here doesn't help either.
"Look who's back!" They all turned to look at us then suddenly, they're throwing themselves to Trev.
"Where have you been?"
"Come here, dimwit!"
"Long time no see!"
"Dude!"
"Our cleanup's back!"
"Why didn't you call us?"
"You're all grown up!"
"My little baby's all grown up!"
"Guys, knock it off!" Trev kept shrugging them away but it's no use. They're too many for him. The only thing I did is to laugh at Trev's face whenever he's being mushed up and squeezed by the others.
"Get used to them. They just missed T so much. He's been gone for so long." Greg suddenly piped in. He's just watching, just like me.
"For how long?" I asked, turning to him. He shrugged and sighed. "Long enough for us to not remember how he looked before."
Whoa. Trevor must really be that special to still be loved and missed by these people even if he'd been gone for so long.
"Dude, look at you! You look human!" We all laughed at Trev as someone pointed out his clothes and that.
"Ugh, seriously? I wasn't even gone for a year? I was just here three months ago!"
Everyone looked at me when they heard me gasp. H-He was just here three months ago?!
"What's wrong, pig?" Trev turned to me. I pulled myself together again.
"But Greg told me that you were gone for years!" I cried out
"What!?" Was what everyone said. Then suddenly, almost everyone narrowed their eyes at Greg who then started running to the field. Everyone else followed him and ran after him.
Trev was the only one who didn't chase him and pulled me into a hug. "Sorry for that. Greg just likes doing naughty things."
I giggled. "You made him sound like a pervert."
He laughed. "Well, I won't deny that."
After a few minutes of sitting in the dugout, they all returned, with Greg held on his arms by two brusque men.
"Let him go. She said that it's okay." Trev said and the two let Greg go.
Greg smiled sheepishly at me. "Sorry for that, mademoiselle."
"That's okay. Besides, cut the mademoiselle crap." I said with a smile
"I wouldn't be calling you mademoiselle if Trev here already told us your name. Right, Trev?" We all looked at Trev. He just scratched the back of his head and pulled me closer to him.
"Right, sorry. Where are my manners?" He cleared his throat and smiled.
"Guys, I would like you to meet Nikki. My girlfriend."
Everyone started hooting and whistling. I even have to cover my ears to protect my eardrums. These guys sure know how to cheer, huh.
"Would you guys cut it out, please?" Everyone became silent after Trev yelled at them again.
He sighed then turned to me with a sweet smile. "Pig--"
"PIG?!!!" They all cried out in unison. Trev gave them a glare before telling them to shut up.
"Pig, these guys are my baseball buddies since middle school. From left to right, that's Troy, Andre, Drew, Oliver, Frank, Harry, Mike, Bill, Ray, Ethan, and Craig. And you already know Gregory, right?" Greg glared at Trev but he just looked at me. I nodded at him then smiled.
"So what brings you here, guys?" The one named Frank said.
"We're looking for something fun to do and I thought, "why not baseball?" So here we are."
"You're playing baseball, Nikki?" Andre asked.
"She'll play as the umpire. I don't want to risk her safety especially around you, guys." Trev spoke up. I frowned at him.
"I want to play! I play baseball, you know!" I cried to Trev, who looked at me surprised.
"What position do you play, Nikki?" Craig piped in
I grinned at them. "I can swing a bat but I play best as a pitcher."
"Whoa! Looks like we now have two pitchers, huh? That's good! Now we can really start a game!" Drew piped up and hopped up from his seat.
The others started grabbing their gears. Trev looked at me with narrowed eyes. I just rolled my eyes at him as I tie my hair up in a bun.
"Don't look at me like that, Trev."
He just sighed and patted my head. "Are you sure that you want to do this? You can just play as an umpire."
"I'm fine, Trev. Really. Besides, its been a long time since I last played. Guess I should test my skills if it's rusty already or still okay." I assured him. He pursed his lips then nodded at me.
"Great!" I piped up. "Let's go get changed then!"
I saw something sparkle in his eyes. "We're gonna change in the same bathroom?" He wiggled his brows at me, indicating that pervert and malicious things are currently running in his head.
I shoved his face away and walked ahead. "In your dreams, big!" I yelled back, a huge grin plastered on my face.
