Prologue

We all have promises. It's easy to make them, but is it easy to keep them? Promises are easy to make, but hard to keep. That's what Kanako Morinaga learned the hard way throughout her entire young life. It seemed that it didn't matter what it was or who made the promise, it was never kept. That's why she never made promises and she never took promises that others made seriously. She created a wall around herself, a strong enough wall so others couldn't penetrate.

"I promise Kanako, I'll be at your recital tonight. I'll be sure to leave work early so I can make it." Kanako's mother patted her on the head before rushing out the door to make it to work.

Kanako just rolled her eyes and ignored the usual bull shirt she would hear time and time again.

"Yeah right, rshe's not coming, neither is father. I'll be lucky to have anyone there tonight." Kanako threw down her fork she was using to eat her tower pancakes and pushed the plate aside. Placing her head on the table and losing her eyes, she felt like she was going to have another brake down.

"I hate this, they don't care, not one bit. If they did they wouldn't make such promises when they know they can't keep them."

Kanako let out a heavy sigh as she looked over to the giant wall clock that hung in the kitchen. It was time for her to get going to school. Placing her breakfast plate in the sink she grabbed her violin case off the counter along with her school bag. She walked out of her house and then locked the door behind her.

It was just going to be another empty day of broken promises for Kanako. Not realizing that, that day, actually might be different for once.
