Zane's Pov

Thank god we looked tough today. The gas station looked beat up and there were biker dudes everywhere. Kason had on black skinnies, Purple and black Nike Dunks, and a purple and black hoodie. I couldn't see his shirt.

"Look, Not scared" I whispered. I held the door open for Kason and we walked to the cashier.

"Hello, I'm looking for my dad, Daniel Kittson" Kason askd the middle-aged cashier.

"Yeah I've seen him around. He was getting some smokes"

"Do you know where he would be?"

"Nope, sorry kid. Tell you what you leave a message and next I see him, I'll be sure to give it to him"

"Thanks". The man handed him a piece of paper and I headed towards the food. Thank you mom for the emergency credit card.

"Dang boy, you can afford all that?" the man asked as I set all the food down on the counter.

"Yes sir. Emergency money, Courtesy of mom". He laughed and checked me out while Kason finished.

"Alright you boys have a nice day". Once we got in the at Kason looked at me.

"That pop tart wasn't an extra one, was it?"

"I....No but it's cool. I got all this"

He laughed, "Dats coo"

"Baby you think imma let you starve to death", I said in a ghetto voice. He blushed and I ruffled his hair. It was so soft. I drove out of the creepy gas station and headed towards town.

"Where you goin?"

"Look for anything that reminds you of your dad". We ate and continued looking for an hour.

"Stop" he snapped. I did and he ran across a park to a big tree, which he punched. I got out running after him. He slid down the tree and pulled his knees to his chest. His head against his knees and I knew he was crying. I sat down beside him and did what Miles always did for me. I pulled him into my lap and let him cry into my chest.

"I can't find him Zane. We're screwed. My step-dad. He'll end up killing us. I can't let that happen to them."

"Shh Kason. What can I do?" I begged. It broke my heart seeing him like this.

"Nothing"

"I can try"

"What, What can you possibly do?"

"You and Kas can stay whenever you want. About Sophie and Jamie, Do you have any other family?"

"Our grandma"

"Well we can go see her and tell her a little about what's going on. That we need her to look after them. We can get them out of there"

"Zane, Your a genius! Just like your momma" he said kissing my cheek.

"I mean..I am amazing", I joked, "But seriously are you okay now". He nodded.

"You still coming with me to Evans, Bring Kas too"

"Yea I am and I'll ask her". I nodded and stood up, Kason still in my arms. I carried him bridel style to the car. He giggled. My plan exactly.

"To grandma Kitty's house we go" I sung.

He patted my head, "Did you forget your medicine?"

"Noooa!"

"Idiot" he chuckled. I stuck my tongue out at him.
