Epilogue
Hey guys. How are you all? Finally, here comes the end of this story. I am both excited and nervous about writing this. This chapter is the most difficult chapter of the entire story for me to write. Writing this took me 4 days because I wasn't sure and ready to separate Swara and Sanskar. But alas, this had to be done. So, gathering much strength, I wrote this. Please read the endnote.
**Epilogue**
Swara's POV:
"Mama, Virat is irritating me," Sia, my five-year-old daughter, told me.
"He is your baby brother. Go and play with him," I said and kissed Sia's cheek.
Virat was Kabir and Sanvi's two-year-old son. Even after six years since that dreadful day, I still lived in Kabir's house. Kabir and Sanvi got married a year after Sia was born. Sanvi was the sweetest person I had encountered in my life. I lived in her husband's house, but she never complained to me about anything. She even loved Sia as her own daughter. And Kabir? Well, he was still a kid. The house became a mess whenever Kabir, Sia, and Virat were left alone. When I told Kabir that I would move out with Sia, he emotionally blackmailed me by saying that I never considered him as my brother, and that was why I was leaving the house, as the house was mine, too. If Virat was Kabir's heartbeat, then Sia was his heart. He loved Sia very much.
Sia was the exact replica of Sanskar. She had Sanskar's dark hair and the same pair of brown eyes. She was as stubborn as her father. Just thinking about him made my heart ache. I didn't hate him. In fact, I could never hate him. After all, he was my first and last love.
Love is strange. The people who get it don't value it, and those who don't get it, crave for it.
My pregnancy was not at all unicorns and rainbows. At night, I used to have weird cravings, but I knew that I couldn't disturb Kabir in the middle of the night, so I went through all of those food cravings and mood swings alone. Sometimes, I used to stuff a pillow in my mouth and cry a lot. Sometimes, I snapped at Kabir for no reason. Sometimes, I used to hallucinate in the middle of the night. I used to feel that Sanskar was massaging my swollen feet in the middle of the night. It was so weird for me to even think of Sanskar doing that.
I still remember the conversation that once I had with Sanskar.
Flashback:
I was sitting on the bed, and Sanskar was sleeping on the bed with his head on my lap and his hands wrapped around my waist. His eyes were closed and he was still. His breaths were deep as he slept peacefully with his head on my lap. I touched his head and messaged his head lightly as he slept. My eyes were focused on him. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep.
"Swara?" he asked, pressing his face on my stomach.
"Hmm?" my hands were still in his hair.
"I am tired of being alone. I want to have a family, a family that consists of you, me and our children," he said.
I blushed at the mention of children.
"I want to return home from the office only to find my pregnant wife eating a bag full of chips or some weird things that pregnant women eat," he said looking at me.
What heaven!
"You know I've even decided the names of our children too," he said while placing kisses on my stomach.
"And what name have you decided?" I couldn't help but ask.
"I want a son first," he said, making me frown.
"Don't tell me that you are one of those orthodox people who don't value daughters and only want sons," I said, faking anger.
"No. The reason I want a son first is that I know my daughter is going to be the world's most beautiful girl and I want her elder brother to protect her from creeps and jerks," he said while kissing my nose.
"Now, let me tell you my son and daughter's names," he smiled and I nodded.
"Ved and Sia," he said and kissed my forehead.
"Mama?" I was brought out of my trance by Sia's voice.
"Yes, baby?" I said, picking her up.
"What is Papa?" her question shocked me.
I knew that this day was going to come but I never expected her to ask it this way. But I had decided that I was not going to lie to my daughter. She deserved to know the truth.
"Sia, you should ask who is Papa?" I said, correcting her.
"Who is papa?" she again asked, making me chuckle.
"Papa is the person who helped Mama to create you," I said to my daughter.
"How did you create me, Mama? Am I made of clay?" My five year old daughter's question made me laugh.
"Chia Didi iz klay," said Virat, which made Sia smack his head.(Sia Didi is clay.)
"Explain to her mama how you created Sia?" Kabir said in between his laughs.
"Shut up," Sanvi said, hitting Kabir's arm.
"Go to hell," I glared at Kabir and he stuck out his tongue at me.
Sia and Virat had the same bond as mine and Kabir's. They irritate the hell out of each other but they love each other a lot. Virat loved to sleep with his Sia Didi.
"Mama?" Sia nudged my dupatta.
Oh God! That was so embarrassing. How would I explain the process of pregnancy to my five year old daughter.
"How do plants grow?" I asked Sia.
"We put a seed inside the ground, water it and the plant becomes big," Sia explained to me.
"Similarly, Papa had a seed inside Mama's stomach and Sia was born," I tickled Sia.
"I came from here?" Sia asked, pointing towards my stomach.
I nodded and she too nodded her head while thinking about something.
"Where is my Papa now?" I became stiff at this question.
I knew my answer would break my daughter's heart. When Sia was born, I had asked Kabir about Sanskar's whereabouts and he told me that Sanskar had settled in New York. He had even handed over all his property to me but I asked Kabir to donate that.
"Virat has his Papa with him. Why don't I have my Papa with me?" Sia asked with tears brimming in her eyes.
"Because Papa and Mama had a fight. Papa lied to Mama. Papa insulted Mama and Papa does not love Mama," I said the truth.
"Papa does not love Sia?" she asked.
"No, Sia. Papa loves you very much. It's just that Papa and Mama can't be together," Kabir said to her.
"If Papa can't love mama, I don't want to be with Papa," Sia said, wiping the drop of tear that fell from my eyes.
"I love you, Mama," Sia said, kissing my nose.
"I love you too, my baby," I said kissing her cheeks.
"Chia Didi, let's play," Virat's voice made Sia run out of the room followed by Kabir.
I got up from the floor and opened the drawer and took out Sanskar's photo, running my fingers through it.
Paas aaye
Dooriyaan phir bhi kam na hui
Ek adhuri si hamari kahani rahi
Aasmaan ko zameen, ye zaroori nahi
Jaa mile... jaa mile...
Ishq saccha wahi
Jisko milti nahi manzilein... manzilein...
Relationships are strange and indefinable. No matter what name you give them, it all comes down to one thing: trust. But the funny thing is, even if you trust each other the most, if you're not meant to be together, you won't be. When a person whom we love the most leaves us unexpectedly, it hurts.
Rang the, noor tha
Jab kareeb tu tha
Ek jannat sa tha, yeh jahaan
Waqt ki ret pe kuch mere naam sa
Likh ke chhod gaya tu kahan
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
Sanskar left behind a huge void in my life, a void that could never be filled. I could never forget what he said to me that day.
"You are such a disgusting slut. I thought you were different from others but no, you are the same. You are a whore, a whore who spread her legs for everyone."
I promised myself that I would never cry for him anymore but I couldn't help but cry at those memories. The day I left, he made it pretty clear that he didn't love me but my heart still felt for him.
I looked out of the window to see Kabir, Sanvi, Virat and Sia sitting and playing in the garden. Kabir and Sanvi were looking at each other with love evident in their eyes. My eyes pricked with tears when I saw that Kabir was kissing Sanvi's forehead. Suddenly, jealousy fanned my senses. This could have been us; me,Sanskar and our Sia. But he ruined everything. I wiped my tears, took deep breaths and consoled myself.
Khushbuon se teri yunhi takra gaye
Chalte chalte dekho na hum kahaan aa gaye
Jannatein agar yahin
Tu dikhe kyon nahin
Chaand suraj sabhi hai yahaan
Intezar tera sadiyon se kar raha
Pyaasi baithi hai kab se yahaan
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
Hamari adhuri kahani
My mind immediately drifted to those promises that Sanskar had made to me.
"I promise you that I'll never hurt you again."
Lie
"I promise you that I'll never let your smile fade. Your smile is what keeps me sane."
Lie
"I promise you that no matter how hard it is, I'll always fight for us."
Lie
"I promise you that I'll always love you and no one else. You gave me a feeling that no other woman had been able to. Just looking at you makes me feel alive.."
Lie
"I promise you that I'll never leave you. If you are not in my life then I have no reason to live. I can never leave you."
Lie
"I promise you that I'll try to change and be a better person for you. I'll give you all the happiness that you deserve. I'll treat you like a queen.."
Lie
You lied, Sanskar. Promises are lies.
"Swara, are you not ready till now? It's 6:30 already. Laksh must be coming in any moment. Get ready quickly," Sanvi said, picking out a dress for me.
"Is this really necessary?" I asked her.
"Yes, this is necessary. Enough of your sulking alone, it's high time for you to go out and start seeing someone. Swara, if not for yourself, go for Sia. Sia needs a father figure in her life. Don't think that I'm complaining about you living here. I know Kabir loves Sia as his own daughter but she can never call him Papa. He is her Mamu. Only a father can fill up that void in Sia's life. Sia needs a person whom she can call Papa and Laksh is ready to accept you both. He's trying a lot. I've seen him making efforts since the past few years. Give him a chance, Swara. He deserves it," Sanvi said, giving me a light smile and I nodded.
"What are you both talking about?" Kabir asked.
"Nothing. Don't disturb us as Swara has to get ready. She's going on a dinner date with Laksh," Sanvi said, pushing me into the washroom to change.
After changing, I came out of the washroom to see Kabir kissing Sanvi's neck.
"Guys, get a room," I said closing my eyes. Sanvi immediately pushed Kabir.
"So, little sister is going on a date," Kabir said, kissing my cheeks.
"I am so happy for you. I'll miss you," he said with a smile.
"You are saying as if I'm going to marry him now," I punched Kabir's stomach lightly. "Sanvi, tell your husband not to irritate me," I complained to her.
"I am not getting into it. You brother-sister, deal with it," Sanvi said.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"It must be Laksh," Sanvi went to open the door.
"Forget about Sanskar and move on," Kabir said.
Even though Sanskar was gone forever, his memory will always live with me, comforting me in my darkest times.
"Good evening," Laksh, who was standing at the door, greeted me.
He was looking so handsome in his navy blue suit. He gave me a bouquet with a bright smile on his face.
"Thank you," I smiled
"You are looking so beautiful. Let's go," Laksh said, holding my hands.
During the entire ride, he talked, and I just nodded my head yes whenever he asked me something.
"Wow, this restaurant is so beautiful," I said as we entered and sat.
"What would you like to have?" the waiter asked.
Laksh ordered the food, and it arrived within fifteen minutes. We talked about Sia mostly, and after having dinner, we left the restaurant, and he dropped me off at home. Just as I was about to get out of the car, he stopped me by holding my hands.
"So?" I asked Laksh.
"Thanks for coming on this date with me. You have no idea how lucky I'm feeling right now. Swara, I don't know how to say this, but trust me Swara I'm not lying. I love you, Swara. I love you very much. I'm ready to accept Sia. I promise that I'll love her as my own daughter. I promise you, Swara, that I'll always love you and never let a single drop of tear fall from your eyes," he said while holding my hand.
"I'm sorry, Laksh, but I don't believe in promises. No. Promises are lies", I said, jerking back my hand and walking into the house.
Pyaas ka ye safar khatam ho jayega

Padhne aaya Khuda khud yahaan...

Finally, this story has come to an end. I don't know how to put my feelings into words. I'm nervous about all of your reactions.
I know many actually will complain about the ending, so let me explain the ending. What's the book's title? Promises are lies, right? Then how can you all think that this book will have a happy ending? How can I prove promises are lies without separating the characters?
A happy ending isn't always necessary. Life is not a bed of roses. Real life is like this... it's not easy. Love always doesn't mean that you'll end up with the person you love.
I always adore this line from Hamari Adhuri Kahani-Ishq sacha wahi jisko milti nahi manzilien. When you feel heartwrenching and heartwarming at the same time, then it's love. Love isn't really just an emotion; it's more than that.
In this story, Sanskar dies without even conveying his true love, even without knowing that he has a daughter. Swara had no idea that Sanskar sacrificed for her, and she spent her entire life accusing him and blaming him. Isn't it sad but beautiful?
Finally, thanks to everyone who is reading this. Whether you are a silent reader or you give regular comments, you all are special to me
I love you all a lot. Silent readers, as this is the last chapter, please break your silence and tell me a few words about this story.
My fingers are literally shaking when I'm typing this, but trust me, I'm so nervous right now. I was not even this nervous during my board exams. I expect you all to understand my point of view. Always remember that love is pain, love is pure, and love is sacrifice.
I have decided to stop writing fan fiction and will only write OS now. Speaking of OS, I've recently published an OS. Please read it.
Thank You!
Take Care!Love You All Forever!
