Serena POV

He is the same boy who helped me at Professor Oak's Summer Camp. His name is Ash.

Flashback

During a hike into the forest, Serena got separated from the group and ended up getting lost.

"Why did I come to this camp and now I am lost," Serena said.

She continued to walk but tripped over a tree branch and fell to the ground.

She was startled when she heard the bushes rustling.

"Poli!"

Poliwag jumped out of the bushes. It looked at Serena and hopped away into the forest.

She tried to get up, but her knee was injured.

"I didn't want to come to this camp. I hate this place! Why did mom send me here?" before screaming out "Mom!"

Serena heard another rustle coming from the same bushes again.

Serena was too scared to see who was coming out of the bushes, so she closed her eyes and tears rolled down her face.

"Poliwag, where are you?"

Serena opens her eyes to see that the boy with black raven hair is standing there.

The boy turned around and noticed her.

"Hey, are you alright?" Ash asked, then he noticed that she was crying.

"What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Ash asks again.

Serena looked at her knee, "I hurt my leg." She murmured.

"Don't worry." Ash knelt and pulled out a blue handkerchief from his pocket. "This will make it feel better." Ash then wrapped the handkerchief around her injured knee.

"All done, Pain, pain, go away!" Ash said as he motioned his hands over my knee like he was casting a spell.

Ash then stood up and asked, "Can you stand?"

"Ouch! My knee is still hurting, I can't stand up." Serena cried out as she tried to stand up.

"Don't give up till it's over, okay? Now come on," Ash extended his hand toward Serena and she placed her hand on his. Ash pulled her up and she ended up in his embrace.

Serena quickly moved away and stared into his brown eyes.

"See you can stand," Ash gave a toothy smile.

"Now, we should go back to the camp."

Ash held Serena's hand and they started to walk out of the forest.

The next morning

"Thanks for helping me out there," Serena said.

"Welcome, is your knee feeling better," Ash asks.

"Yeah," Serena said.

"You never told me your name?" Ash question

"My name is Serena. What's your name?" Serena said.

"My name is Ash Ketchum. I want to be a Pokemon trainer and travel all around the world." Ash replied.

"Wow, you have a great dream, can we become friends?" Serena question.

"Of course, I like making friends," Ash answered.

"Hello, everyone, today's activity is that you have to pair up two kids and need to become friends with one Pokemon who is roaming around in this area don't worry, they are only baby pokemon and small pokemon," Professor Oak announced. "The first group who can become friends with Pokemon before anyone else will be the winner."

"Is it a very difficult activity, how do I become friends with the Pokemon?" Serena asked in worried.

"You don't need to worry, leave it to me," Ash replied in confidence.

"Ash, will you be my partner in this activity?" Serena asked.

"Of course Sere," Ash replied.

"What's with the nickname?" Serena pouted.

"I like it and it is cute, you know," Ash replied.

"Uh, then, I need to find a nickname for you too."

"Alright, but now we need to find a cute little Pokemon, just like you," Ash teased.

"What are you searching for? Ash." Serena asked as they started to walk.

"I am searching for berries."

"Berries? But why?"

"Pokemon like berries. If we found the berries and gave them to Pokemon then they would become friends with us."

"Really?"

"Yup."

After 5 minutes

"Great! I found two berries."

"Now, we need to find a Pokemon," Ash said as they started to walk again.

As they start to walk, the first Pokémon they come across is Eevee.

"Wow, Eevee, can we become friends with it," Serena shouted.

"Yeah," Ash agrees.

"Hey, Eevee," Ash said as he slowly started to walk toward Eevee, who got afraid and hid behind the nearby bushes.

"Hey, Eevee. Don't be afraid. We just want to give this berry to you." Ash shows the berry he held in his hand.

Eevee slowly took a step forward and was about to take the berry but Pidgey suddenly swoops down, steals the berry, and eats it. Eevee started crying and ran away.

"Wait, Eevee!" Serena shouted but Eevee ran away, she looked at the ground in disappointment. "I wanted to become friends with it."

"We can find another Pokemon." Ash ensured her.

"Okay..."

"Hey, Ash, who's that Pokemon?" Serena asked as she found the Pokemon.

"Clefa!"

"Hey, Clefa. Do you want this berry?" Ash offers the berry to Clefa who happily accepts it.

The Eevee they encountered earlier leaps out of a nearby bush and nabs the berry from Clefa'a hand and started eating.

"Eevee!" Eevee cheered happily after eating the berry.

Time Skip

"Today's winner is Ash and Serena. They complete their activities in a short amount of time." Professor Oak announced.

After 1 month

Serena and Ash become best friends as the Summer Camp continues for 1 month and they do all the activities together and play.

On the last day of the Summer, Camp Ash buys a friendship bracelet for Serena, to show that they are best friends forever.

At the end of the day, all the kids are ready to go to their homes.

"Hi, Sere," Ash said.

"Hi, Ash," Serena smiled.

"Here, I wanted to give you this," Ash said and handed the blue bracelet to Serena.

"Ash, what is this?"

"It's a friendship bracelet. I wanted to give you this since this is the last day of the Summer Camp," Ash said. "I wanted to show that we are best friends forever, outside of the Summer Camp. I don't want our friendship to end."

"We're gonna still be friends outside of Summer camp," Serena assured him.

"So, where do you live?" Ash asked.

"I live across the street," Serena replied.

"Now! I can't wait to play with you sometimes." Ash jumps into the air.

Ash and Serena walk toward their house but stop.

"Eevee!" Eevee said and ran towards them.

"Uh... what do you want?" Serena asked as she knelt in front of Eevee.

"Eevee!"

"There you are, Eevee?" The professor shouted as he walked towards Eevee and he noticed Ash and Serena."So, that's why you ran away from the lab."

"Eevee, Eevee!" Eevee jumped on Serena's arms.

"Looks like Eevee wants to come with you." Professor Oak said.

"Is that true?" Serena asked Eevee.

Eevee nods its head.

"So, now Serena has to catch it?" Ash asked, looking towards Professor Oak.

"No, when you get your trainer license then I will allow her to capture Eevee." Professor Oak announced.

"What!" Ash and Serena shouted at the same time and looked toward the ground in disappointment.

"But, I will make an exception for you, because you love it," Professor Oak said. "You can catch Eevee in the Pokeball.

"Thank you, Professor," Ash said.

"But, don't use Eevee in battle." Professor Oak said.

They nod their heads.

Professor Oak gives one Pokeball to Ash.

He happily took it.

Ash turned to Serena, "You can catch it."

"Me?"

"Of course. Eevee wants to come with you."

"Alright." Serena nodded as she took the Pokeball in her hand.

Serena shows the Pokeball to Eevee.

Eevee taps the Pokeball and a flashlight appears and Eevee is engulfed in the Pokeball.

"Wow, congratulations! Sere. You caught the Eevee."

"Thanks," Serena said while looking at the Pokeball.

"Promise, you will take care of Eevee." Professor Oak said.

"I promise Professor Oak," Serena said.

After 1 year

It has been 1 year since Ash and Serena met for the first time back at Summer Camp.

Over time they become great friends. They spent time playing in each other's houses.

After playing in Ash's house Serena returned to her home.

Unknown to her the situation is about to change their future.

"Serena, I wanted to talk to you about something," Grace said in a nervous tone.

"What is it, Mommy?" Serena asked.

"We are moving to the Kalos Region," Grace replied.

"Wait! what?" Serena yelled.

"Mommy has a new job. We are transferring to the Kalos Region." Grace said.

"Wait, does that mean...?" Serena couldn't finish her sentence, her eyes widened.

"Yes, you have to say goodbye to your friend," Grace said.

"But, I don't want to leave Ash! He is my best friend forever," Serena said and tears started to fall from her eyes.

"I know, I know, honey. But this is a new job for me and I get paid a lot for doing that job." Grace explained.

"But I don't want to leave Kanto!" Serena shouted and started running to her room.

Next day in the morning

After breakfast, Serena decides to talk to Ash.

After arriving she knocked on the door. A few moments later Delia opens the door.

"Oh, Hi, Ms. Ketchum," Serena said.

"Are you here for Ash?" Delia asked.

Serena nods her head.

"Can you ask him to come here?" Serena says.

"Ash! come downstairs Serena wants to talk to you about something," Delia yelled.

After some seconds Ash comes downstairs.

"Hi, Sere"

"Ash... I wanted to tell you that Mommy says that we are leaving Kanto." Serena said and started to cry.

"What?"

Serena didn't answer and ran away.

Ash looked to the ground, thinking about what Serena had just said.

"You should say goodbye soon," Delia said.

"I can't believe she is leaving Kanto. We are... Best friends." Ash said.

"I know it hurts, but we have to say goodbye to them," Delia said.

"I know mom," Ash said.

On the day of moving

Ash runs towards Serena's house to say goodbye to Serena one final time.

"Hi, Sere," Ash said.

"This is it. This is where we are gonna say goodbye to each other." Serena said.

"Here is a photo of us," Serena handed a photo album to Ash.

Although I didn't enjoy summer camp, I didn't regret meeting Ash there. The day when I met him there was so special to me and I could never forget him. I took out a blue handkerchief from my bag.

"I can't wait to meet you, Ash."

My thoughts are interrupted by my mom's shouting.

"Serena! Dinner is ready!"

"Okay, I am coming!"

I am happy to find out that he is going to be living just across the street. I will meet him tomorrow.

Serena quickly rushed downstairs for dinner.

At Indigo Plateau

"Piplup, use Whirlpool," Dawn yelled forcing herself to keep her eyes away from the clock and scoreboard, knowing time was running out and the points were close.

Dawn and Piplup are too close; they can't lose now.

With her Quilava down and her opponent's Poliwrath are also faint. So it is up to Piplup to win this.

Each was exhausted, but they didn't wanna give up and they were desperate to get their respective trainers to win the finals of the Indigo Plateau Grand Festival Championship.

"Noctowl! Use Confusion! Use that Whirlpool against Piplup!" came the counter of the opposing trainer. The girl has black hair and green eyes.

As the large pool of water swirls around the Piplup, Noctowl's eyebrow tufts glow blue and

the water which also starts to glow blue and crashes down on top of Piplup.

He trashed around wildly, overcoming his attack, and then finally the water shot up into the air, coming down slowly and evaporating.

Dawn doesn't want to give up just yet.

"Alright, Piplup let's keep going. Piplup uses -"

Suddenly a buzzing sound rang throughout the contest hall, Dawn's eyes widened and she looked towards the scoreboard. The picture of her and her opponent had vanished, and their score went as well.

Dawn shut her eyes tight, and looked back up towards the scoreboard, praying to Arceus that they manage to win this.

Then the scores were revealed and she saw the score. Immediately, her stomach dropped and her eyes went down.

Lilian, the contest announcer for the Kanto Region contest, began the announcement "the winner is Sarah."

"Come on," Dawn whispered, wiping her eyes, "we... we should take you to the Pokemon Centre," Dawn says as she picks Piplup in her arms.

As she walked through the empty hall towards the changing room, tears started to form in her eyes.

Dawn just reached the changing room and was about to open the door but stopped when she heard someone call her name.

"Hey! Hey, Dawn!" came a shout.

Dawn turns around and sees her best friend Kenny.

"Kenny! What are you doing here?" Dawn asks in shock.

"I come here to see you of course," Kenny said.

"Thanks," Dawn said looking away.

"You did well, and I am sure you will win next time," Kenny complimented.

"I always tell myself this...every time...when I lose," Dawn said. " is getting a bit tiresome."

"You came second place in Indigo and maybe you can win in your next contest," Kenny said.

Dawn said nothing.

"Don't be upset, you came so far," Kenny said and put a hand on Dawn's shoulder.

"I guess you are right I fought so hard to get this far I can't give up now." Dawn smiled.

"That's, Right!" Kenny said.

"Thanks, Kenny, for cheering me up."

"Your Welcome,"

"Where should I go now?" Dawn mumbled.

"You decide to make," Kenny giggled. "I'm going to Sinnoh so I can take a break from all the traveling."

"Speaking of the break," Dawn muttered.

"Bye! take care." Kenny said and walked away.

"I am going to Pallet Town!" Dawn thought.
