A New Start
“Allanna it is time to head back.” Sarah remarked after a while. Checking the time on my watch I sighed.
“You can head back I am going to stay a little bit longer.” I replied watching anger bubble in her face. Min watched Sarah growl amused. “What was it you wanted to say about her?” I questioned.
“Her thoughts belittled me, and my people, we do not allow that among my people, so she gave a poor view about your people to my people.” Min answered. “Do you want to see my people?” Min found her way towards me, a big goofy smile on her face. I smiled and shook my head yes.
“Can I? I would love to, if I could.” I babbled. She studied me for a moment. The silence was long and tense.
“Yes, I believe you can.” Min smiled and stood. A hand was outstretched towards me. I smiled and took her hand. She tore part of her skirt off and wrapped it around my eyes. She grabbed my hand and lead me through uneven ground. Sticks, and leaves kept hitting my face, grasses, weeds, and flowers kept scraping against my legs. A conversation started, but the language was foreign, so the conversation didn't include me. I waited patiently, allowing myself to calm down. My heartbeat slowed as my breath calmed.
“Come, Allanna. You have been granted access.” With those words Min peeled the skirt part off my eyes. “I couldn't have you see the way here. Now, take off your shoes and hand them to me.” Min demanded holding her hand out waiting for the shoes. I bent down and untied my shoelaces and handed over my shoes.
People crowd the streets as we walk through them, people kept giving me weird looks though. I followed close behind Min, her long blue hair flowing just past her shoulder blades, following the wind. Into my face. I watched the people of this city who all resemble Min do their daily work. This world was so colourful, and happy compared to the dark, depressing, brown earth. I loved this place. Min turned towards me her golden eyes sharp watching me.
"Allanna. Promise me one thing," She started. "Promise me, from this moment on you shall do what I ask without question. Can you do that?" She asked and I looked at her then the world around me. A smile spread across my face.
"Of course I can." I answered. She smiled and grabbed my hand. Dragging me through the crowded streets and towards the large sparkling white with black trim house.
"Here our gold is black, and our copper is silver, and our silver is bronze, and our obsidian is gold. We are not what you know so dismiss most of what you know." She said pulling me into the building. It looked like the building was made of diamond or. But the diamond didn't glisten or shine, just shone white. I was pulled towards the back room as I examined the building.
"So diamonds are stronger pearls?" I asked turning to look into the room. I notice we are not alone and instantly apologize. She gave a soft nod and led me to a seat.
"Sir, she was who I was talking about. She can help us." Min said. The man looked displeased, and disappointed. Looking between Min and I he scoffed.
"You only think she can help, because she peeks an interest in you, nothing else. Not to mention you fancy her." He barked. Min looked like she would hit him.
"Please sir, take a moment talk to her. You will understand." She begged. The man growled. She left. Me alone in the room with him.
"So do you have a name or are you just sir?" I asked. He finally looked at me and gave me a look. "Not to be rude or anything. It is just, uh... Most times someone would prefer to be called something, I was just seeing what you wanted me to call you." I stuttered.
"My name is Reinhardt Shiendartha Lienthenta. No one remembers that. So I became sir. If you remember it good for you, if you don't good for you. A name is a name. Your actions define you. Not your definition." He answered looking at me once more. I thought for a second.
" I don't think I can pronounce that Mister." I announced he nodded. "So why did you say those hurtful things to Min." I asked. He turned towards the painting behind him.
"She did this once before, with a terrorist. He almost devided the whole planet. Thankfully our rulers were not ready for that to happen. However we know as much about you human as you know about us." He paused turning towards me. His blue eyes staring into me. "I wouldn't want war to break out between our kinds. Where you people are good at lies and revolutions, my people are good at killing and truth." His tone was ice cold and I looked at my hands.
"Sir you and I both don't want a war. I have seen what it did to my planet. Our bombs destroying every living thing it touches. A human who lives past twenty is a lucky one indeed. Radiation coats our land, we can barely have babies without their stomachs being on the floor the next day. I will never wish that on anyone." I answered looking at him. His eyes were wide as he envisions what I described.
"How did that ever happen?" His voice shook with the fear rising towards the surface.
"I wish I knew. One second everything is nice and cold. The next the sun never set. And people were dying left and right." His white hair fell into his face as small crimson tears fell from his eyes.
"Your people must never do that again. They must not hurt my people. In anyway shape or form." He looked at me his eyes were gone nothing but black holes allowing crimson tears to fall. I nodded and he let me leave, before asking for Min.
