Study Buddy

 Tango's Perspective-

Throughout the first two weeks, Jimmy always seemed exhausted and on edge.

Tango was worried about him, but didn't know how to help since most of his memories with Jimmy were from elementary school (and Tango was sure Jimmy didn't love space just as much anymore).

Jimmy sat in math class next to Tango and the teacher let them have a catch-up day where they could study and turn in late homework assignments.

Jimmy stood up along with a couple other students to turn in homework while Tango glanced down at his study sheets.

He sighed and did the optional homework to help prepare, and he felt someone tap his shoulder.

He glanced up to see Jimmy, who looked a bit nervous.

"Hey...can you help me out with studying?" Jimmy asked.

"Oh- sure." Tango smiled and the two scooted their desks close together so Tango could point out mistakes and show him what to do.

"What did you need help with?" Tango asked, resting his chin on his hand.

"Circles." Jimmy sighed, "They're the bane of my existence."

Tango chuckled. "They're not that bad." He leaned over a bit and accidentally brushed his arm against Jimmy's.

He helped coach Jimmy, who seemed to pay attention to every word.

At the very end, Jimmy grabbed Tango's arm to stop him.

Tango blushed and looked back at him.

"Y-yeah?" He raised an eyebrow, trying to calm down his racing heart.

"Did- did you see that?!"

"What?" Tango tilted his head.

"I'm fixed! I- I paid attention! I was focusing!" Jimmy smiled brightly and Tango's eyes widened.

"Did your meds finally help you control your ADHD?"

"Oh- no, I just...am testing new stuff." Jimmy trailed off and Tango put a hand on his shoulder. Jimmy looked up at him and Tango's smile softened.

"Jimmy...you don't gotta hide it from me, you know. I'm happy if you're happy and succeeding."

"I...thank you." Jimmy smiled and Tango nodded.

The bell rang and the two stood up, walking out together. They split up for lunch, Jimmy giving Tango one last sweet smile.

Tango stared after him and he felt a soft red blush form on his cheeks.

"Who're you ogling?"

Tango jumped and saw Skizz, who smirked teasingly.

"SKIZZ-! Shut up, it wasn't anyone!"

"Aw come on, who's the lucky lady?" Skizz winked. "You can tell me."

"No." Tango mumbled, starting to walk to their normal spot for lunch.

"Come onnn, why you gotta be so stubborn? I told you when me and Impulse started dating." Skizz said, following his little Freshie friend.

"Yeah but that's different."

"How so?"

"Cause you two actually got together, and this is just a stupid crush. I- I mean it's not even that." Tango laughed, running a hand through his hair, feeling like he was going crazy.

Skizz smirked and wrapped an arm around Tango's shoulders.

"Alright, but seriously, I care. If you want help then let me know, okay?"

"Yeah...thanks." Tango smiled softly.

"Now come on, we're meeting up with the gang in the music room."

They went to the music building and saw Impulse with Gem and Scott.

"Hey, how's the band going?" Skizz asked, high fiving Scott and Gem before sitting next to his boyfriend.

"We had a good practice, but my voice is dying." Gem said dramatically, though her voice did sound a bit rough.

Tango wasn't paying much attention as he took out his own lunch. He saw the flashcards he made of the math formulas and sighed, thinking of Jimmy.

"Hey, Tango?"

Tango glanced up and saw Scott smiling at him.

"Oh uh- sorry, I wasn't paying attention. What did you need?"

"You alright?" Scott grinned a bit and Tango blushed, glancing down.

"I'm fine, just thinking."

"About what?" The sophomore questioned, opening a bag of chips Gem gave him.

"I just...it's stupid."

"Hey, don't put your feelings down like that." Scott elbowed him. "You matter just as much as anyone else."

Tango smiled softly, appreciating his kindness.

"I'm just...worried about a friend, I guess."

"Relationship drama?" Scott raised an eyebrow.

"Er- well yeah actually." Tango rubbed the back of his red neck, his fingers gently grazing the ends of his blonde hair.

"Maybe you just need to relax."

"Easier said than done."

Scott snorted. "Fair. But hey, I can help if you'd like. I got hair dye at my place if you ever wanna try something new."

Tango hesitated, pondering over the options.

"Just let me know if you want it. It could be fun." Scott shrugged. "I find that it helps me take my mind off stuff. When I'm dying my hair, I only focus on that, so everything kinda fades away."

Tango smiled. "I'll think about it, thank you."
