My Place

Jimmy's Perspective-

Ever since Jimmy had met Grian, he started to find his place.

The two were inseparable and always got along about the craziest of things.

"Did you know that Peach is Rosalina's mother?" Jimmy pointed out as he and Grian picked characters for a round of Mario Kart.

"Er- no?" Grian raised an eyebrow. "Is that real?"

"Maybe." Jimmy shrugged. "I saw it in a video the other day."

"You can't trust everything you see on a computer." Grian rolled his eyes. "You need to touch grass too."

"Says the guy who agreed to play video games with me this weekend." Jimmy teased and Grian snorted.

"Yeah, but I touch grass daily."

"When? Walking from class to class?" Jimmy smirked and Grian shook his head.

"I walk my cat, you dummy." Grian elbowed him and Jimmy rolled his eyes, but a smile was still on his face.

"You're so weird for that."

"Well, that makes you the guy who hangs out with the weirdo." Grian grins and Jimmy laughs.

"We need to get those shirts they have at the fairs that have arrows pointing to the other saying dumb stuff."

"You mean the ones that say the girlfriend boyfriend stuff?" Grian raised an eyebrow, smirking.

Jimmy blushed and he laughed, covering his red face with a hand. "Not what I had in mind, but I mean, we could."

Grian snickered and rolled his eyes.

"No way you're making me wear that. At least let me get the one that says I'm the guy."

"What? No, you're totally the girl in our relationship."

"In what way?!"

"You always like wearing sweaters two sizes too big!"

Grian blushed and he huffed.

"Fair."

Later that spring, the two joined Lizzie and Scar going to the state fair, which was exciting. Luckily the lines weren't too long, and they even roped their parents into letting them play some fair games.

Lizzie raced her father in the water gun minigame, trying to get her aim perfect. Meanwhile, Scar got Jimmy and Grian to join him in a funhouse.

"It's not actually scary, they're just concerning in their safety regulations." Scar led them through a section that had a bunch of punching bags.

Jimmy paced through and Grian punched one behind him.

"Gah-! Grian!" Jimmy shouted and Grian smirked, walking ahead.

Jimmy pushed the bag and Grian stumbled forward.

The two exchanged glares but laughed, linking arms as they walked up the stairs behind Scar.

They were on top of the fun house and right near the end when in front of their path was a bunch of rolling metal cylinders. The worker demonstrated how they had to slide across the railing, and it would push them across. Scar did it and struck a pose at the end, and Jimmy followed suit.

Grian hesitated at first but did it and stumbled near the end. Jimmy quickly caught him and the two exchanged shy grins.

Later on, they met up with everyone while waiting in line for funnel cakes. They were figuring out what people wanted to eat, and Jimmy had his eyes on the Ferris Wheel, not really paying attention.

"James?"

Jimmy glanced back at his father, who sighed a bit.

"Were you even listening?"

"I- no, sorry." Jimmy blushed heavily, feeling Grian's gaze on him.

"It's alright." His father smiled weakly, showing how he wasn't really upset, just a bit worried. "Did you take your meds today?"

"No, dad. You know I don't like taking them during breaks, they turn off my personality almost completely. I become some dumb robot." Jimmy shook his head.

"That's fair, I just needed to know what rides you wanted to go on next."

"Oh- I wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel."

"Scar wanted to go on the Haunted Mansion so I may join him and Lizzie. We'll meet you right by the Ferris Wheel, alright?" Jimmy's father explained, keeping eye contact.

Jimmy nodded, showing that he was listening.

As he and Grian went on the Ferris Wheel, the two laughed and joked. Grian then got a bit serious, which Jimmy did not expect.

"You seem a lot more like yourself, it's nice." Grian smiled and Jimmy blushed.

"I- yeah I guess I am...my medication really does just make me shut off." Jimmy laughed but he felt a pain in his heart. "I'm all like 'hello my name is James'." Jimmy mocked in a robot voice to make Grian laugh.

"Oh and are we actually going to get those dumb hoodies?" Grian asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jimmy felt the heat return to his face and he laughed, looking away.

"I- I mean, if you'd like."
