▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Beverly wasn't much of a team player. All her school and college projects were done alone and if, for whatever unfortunate reason, she had to be in a team, she pushed everyone away, did all the work on her own, and took the mark. She took the easy way out, living by the words; if you want something done right, do it yourself.
In a way, Hayley was now Beverly's only friend which also translated into a responsibility. She wouldn't know how to go on with her day and keep working for college while her kidnapped pregnant friend was somewhere out there and unsafe. So, as the controlling freak she is, she managed to let Elijah and Klaus take her with them.
They were both against the idea at first before she threw in a challenging statement, "Oh, so you are afraid I might die on your watch...or maybe even get kidnapped. Ah, I truly believed the almighty Originals were supposed to be a different...stronger breed. I think, for a first, I was wrong."
Fast forward, Beverly knew Elijah was mature enough to not fall for that but she had her hopes that Klaus would and she was, as always, right.
The blonde folded her arms together, following Klaus and Elijah into the courtyard. It had way too many people for her liking. No, not people. Vampires. Which was an even worse crowd. Beverly internally gagged.
God, am I living the teenage girl dream and hating it?
And once again, she told herself, take a star; you are different, you take a star. You are not different, mom takes a star from you. Those were the rules. Those will always be the rules.
She snapped back to reality when a female vampire dropped to the ground after Klaus snapped her neck. Beverly felt like smiling in relief when there was no blood present in that but she held back.
The whole room went silent as Klaus greeted, "Good evening!" He looked up at Marcel standing on the stairs, leaning against the railing, "I'd like a word."
"What do you think you're doing?"
Beverly was looking around herself at the vampires when she uttered, "Making one hell of a scene."
She furrowed her eyebrows when a couple of vampires glared at her before realizing that she said it out loud. Oh, well, I do have a nice commentary. Beverly smiled at them, her signature most intimidating smile.
"It appears that we've interrupted a collection of filthy amateurs!" Elijah spoke up, motioning to the nightwalkers, "We've come here for the girl. Give her to us, or we kill everyone here," He paused at the end, adding, "...starting with you."
Beverly ran her tongue over her bottom lip, glaring back at Diego to show off how composed she was. He should know better than to think she was scared to stare him down. If it weren't for her prestige, she would have growled at him right there.
Marcel chuckled humorlessly, shaking his head, "You got a lot of nerve, coming into my home and making demands."
The Original hybrid emphasized with a fake smile, "Your home, is it?"
His brother cut in, angry that this was the way Klaus planned to take the conversation, "The girl! I will not ask again."
The Gerard shrugged, raising an eyebrow, "I assume you're talking about Hayley?" Beverly pursed her lips together as he raised his hand to reference her friend's height, "Yea high, dark hair, bitchy attitude? Who is she, anyway?"
"She's an old friend. You know how sentimental I am about old friends."
He shrugged his shoulders, claiming, "Well, I ain't got her. And before you start whining, I did pay her a little visit earlier tonight. I was feeling nostalgic, so I took a trip out to the plantation where I used to be a slave," He continued as Beverly raised her eyebrows higher than intended where instead of being surprised and indifferent, she was concerned about what she had just heard.
"And, imagine my surprise when I realized that the Original family of vampires had taken up residence. Your girl, Hayley, answered the door," Marcel stated, pointing over to the Hills girl, "With Beverly over there, you saw me leave."
"You could have easily come back, hit me with whatever it was that hit the back of my head, took her, and left," She said nonchalantly. Beverly had already come to terms with a fact. She might have a tiny crush on Marcel. However, Beverly has rules. Yes, she has rules for everything.
The rule goes...If he or she brings drama, no matter how hot or sweet they are, get over it. We have got no time for that shit.
And liking Marcel would bring more than just normal human-sized drama.
"Getting over it" meant embracing her worst (normal) self. Be cruel, be mean, be stand-offish. Just drive him away. Simple as that.
"You don't believe me?"
"I don't trust strangers, don't take it to heart," Beverly replied with a shrug before contemplating it and tilting her head, "Or do, yeah, take it to heart."
She couldn't read his expression well enough to determine if her plan was working before he said, "Look around. Hell, I'll even help you find her."
"But the question that I'd ask is...if Hayley isn't here, then where is she?"
I did not want to think of that question.

Beverly looked down at the chair one of the nightwalkers brought up for her, silently calculating the amount of germs on it before deciding to stay on her feet. Elijah and Klaus were sitting as some of the vampire fighters milled around the compound.
He commented, "Not the most attractive community, are they?"
"You do realize they can hear you?" Klaus raised an eyebrow.
"You do realize I don't care?"
Beverly chuckled at that before Marcel came in, followed by some vampires, and the witch, Sabine. The blonde rolled her eyes, there wasn't any other witch? Had to pick the weird one?
They are all weird, it doesn't matter. She corrected herself, sighing.
"You know, Elijah, I liked you better in that box," He claimed before turning to Klaus, "But Klaus, my sire, you I owe the world, and I always show respect to my elders."
"If your special lady friend is missing, you could benefit from the help of a witch. And, since I control all the witches in this town, I'll grant you one little locator spell," Marcel finished as Sabine walked forward, "Sabine's the best guide in the Quarter. Need to find someone? I guarantee, she's your girl."
Marcel turned to leave them to their business as Klaus asked in confusion but Beverly knew him enough by now to realize that was clear suspicion, "Where are you going?"
"I hate to cut this short, but the sun's coming up soon. My nightwalkers need to get inside, and I have got a city to run. I leave you to track down your lost sheep."
"She has a name, she is not a lost sheep," Beverly spoke up before turning to Sabine, "Can you find my friend?"
"I can try."
Beverly nodded as Sabine looked back at her, "Are you gonna stare at me forever? Start your spell."
The Hills girl knew she was intimidating Sabine or maybe she was just an interest to her but she was feeding off of that. When you find someone intimidating, you are usually counting your words around them and that was good, for Beverly. She was not a talker and under very rare circumstances will she start or participate in an actual friendly conversation.
Sabine waved her hands over a map as she chanted the locator spell, a puddle of Klaus' blood traced across the map from their current location to where Hayley was being held in the Bayou.
"Not this again," Beverly huffed out in frustration.
"She's in the back country. Way up past Houma, deep in the Bayou."
Elijah raised an eyebrow, "I don't suppose you could be more precise?"
"You want her to give you the longitude and latitude?"
Klaus chuckled before turning to his brother, "What's the matter, Elijah? You're worried a bit of splashing about in the bog might ruin your expensive shoes?"
"As a matter of fact, after my recent confinement, I could use a decent stroll through the countryside."
Sabine took in a deep breath, revealing, "There are stories of exiled werewolves, encampments. If Hayley went out that far, chances are she went to find them."
"She didn't go out far, she was taken as in...kidnapped," Beverly stepped in, correcting.
The witch nodded before suggesting, "Well, maybe you—"
She cut her off, raising an eyebrow, "Are you about to call me a liar? I wouldn't call that a smart move. I am a lot of things and a filthy little liar is not one of them."
"Alright, Hayley could have—"
Beverly tsk'd, interjecting, "And now you are about to say that my friend could have tricked me," She finished as Sabine sighed, parting her lips, "Just shut the fuck up, don't share your suggestions. No one cares."
"Least of all me," She shook her head before turning to the two Originals, "So, are we gonna keep looking at that map forever, or are we actually going to find and rescue her? Not that my friend needs a knight in shining armor or anything mushy like that."
Klaus rose to his feet after that, pointing ahead of him, "Ladies first."
Beverly pursed her lips together, "Hmm, such a gentleman."

Beverly was regretting her choice of footwear, her feet hurt and her heels were pretty much screaming that that was the last time she will wear them. Elijah was ahead of her in the 'find Hayley' team while Klaus was a few feet behind her.
"We should head south towards the water," Elijah spoke up, picking up his pace.
Klaus commented, "You seem quite determined to find the little wolf."
"If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, you're welcome to wait in the car. Do be certain to leave the windows down," Elijah retorted, not slowing his pace for a step.
The hybrid chuckled, continuing to taunt him, "Ah, so I've touched a nerve? You've begun to admire this girl," He realized, "Perhaps that's why you've been barking orders since your return, hoping to impress Hayley by assuming the role of the family patriarch."
"My God, do you two ever shut up?" Beverly huffed out, shaking her head, "This is not the time for the brotherly...love or whatever that is."
Klaus sniffed at the air and looked around as Beverly gave herself a mental note to memorize a few dog jokes for next time.
"Have you found her scent?"
Klaus came upon a SUV and started searching through its contents, groaning out, "No, but I found someone else's. This vehicle reeks of someone I thought I was rid of... Tyler Lockwood."
Beverly furrowed her eyebrows together before Klaus explained that that happened to be his very first successful hybrid as Elijah asked, "And why would your little hybrid-sidekick from Mystic Falls have any interest in Hayley?"
"He wants revenge because I went after his girl."
The Hills girl shrugged, folding her arms together as the older Mikaelson spoke, "Why do I suspect this is the least of your offenses?"
"Back when I had the means to sire hybrids, he was my first. Although, I didn't give him much choice in the matter," He pulled a blanket out of the abandoned car and sniffed at it, "He was loyal in the beginning, but he grew insubordinate, turned my other hybrids against me."
"I couldn't have that, so I massacred the lot of them. Tyler ran like a coward before I could finish him off."
"Hmm...why am I not surprised," The blonde girl shook her head at herself.
Elijah sighed in frustration, "Anything else that you would like to share?"
"Well, there was this business with his mum..."
"You killed his mother. Wonderful," Elijah deduced as Beverly's eyebrows almost raised to her hairline. God, what was left that Klaus hadn't done to that guy.
"He needed to be taught a lesson!"
Beverly scoffed, questioning, "Lovely, very lovely. Now he's here for revenge. What kind of a stupid move is that, anyway? You take everything from someone and leave them alive to get back at you?"
"And what lesson will you be taught, Niklaus, if he retaliates by harming Hayley?"
Klaus ignored all that and turned to his brother, "So you do care about her. Well, go on, then. Have at it, brother. Save her. Claim what spoils you can. I've sampled what she has to offer and let me tell you, she is exquisite—"
"You are unbelievable!," Beverly cut in, shaking her head.
"Enough. I'll kill Tyler Lockwood myself."
She paused for a few seconds before commenting, "What a nice civilized conversation."
࿐ ࿔ ✧˖*°
"You've befriended Hayley quite quickly."
"You call three months quickly?" Beverly paused, parting her lips, "Oh, right. You are a thousand years old. Months probably sound like minutes to you."
"Probably," He nodded before adding, "Your father said given the chance, you can befriend anyone."
She scoffed, looking around and behind the trees, "He liked to think that he knew the person I am. He believed I can be like him, or worse, my mom. He also thought I lied somewhere in between of that."
"And was he right?"
Beverly wasn't surprised by that question and it didn't take long to answer. She had asked herself that every day since forever, "I am not my mother, I am not my father, and I am not both. I am Beverly Hills. I am my own girl and I like things they wouldn't dream of knowing. I am good that way, insufferable but good."
She shrugged her shoulders, "What's with the Q&A? You are taking after Klaus?"
"Just making sure of something."
Beverly turned around and a gasp left her lips as soon as she came to face with a knife, "Oh, my God," She took in a deep breath as Elijah interfered fast enough to steady Hayley's hand, protecting Beverly, "Hayley, you just scared the living shit out of me."
The pregnant werewolf signed in relief before hugging Beverly, "You will not believe the crap day I'm having."
"Given the knife and that, I can make up a good image of crap."
Elijah spoke up after the two girls pulled back from that embrace, "C'mon, I'll take you home."
He turned to leave as Beverly tried to pull Hayley with her but Hayley stopped them, "Wait, there's something you need to know about the baby."
࿐ ࿔ ✧˖*°
Hayley was sitting against a tree as she told Elijah and Beverly what she had learned. Elijah paced anxiously while he listened, "Klaus must have known, that's the only explanation! He could care less about the baby. He just wants her to be born so he can use her to make more sired hybrids."
Beverly had her arms folded together, a common posture when she is deducing things before Hayley added, "Although... the way that Dwayne was acting... it was more like he was sired to me."
Elijah sighed, part of him refusing to accept that, "I should take you home."
"Are you serious? Home to what?"
"Look, regardless of my brother's intentions, mine remain the same. I said that I would protect you, even, if need be, from Klaus himself."
Hayley looked up at him, claiming, "I can take care of myself. I've done it for a long time."
"This...all, it doesn't make sense."
Both Hayley and Elijah turned to her as it was the first time for to speak since Hayley revealed the news, "I saw the proof with my own eyes."
"Hayley, I am not calling you a liar," She shook her head, "I believe you, I do. All I am saying is...what if...Klaus doesn't even know that? What proof do you have for that? We can't just go accusing him of being the all evil bad guy like that."
"Bev, you don't get it. Klaus already is the all evil bad guy. None of this is new to him."
"I have a gut feeling about this...It feels like he doesn't know. Listen, my gut feelings are never wrong. Call it magic, luck, or whatever. Just trust me."
"Not with this...Not with my unborn child's safety."
Beverly's eyes widened for a very short moment, it was almost unnoticed if someone wasn't already looking at her before her expression changed in the blink of a second, "Sure, do whatever suits you and your unborn child. What do I know, anyway? Just a reckless, selflish, and unwanted guest."
"Beverly—"
She cut her off, turning to Elijah, "Can we go already?"
࿐ ࿔ ✧˖*°
Beverly's mom takes a star.
Don't trust people. Don't get all friendly with people. You can't have friends. No one will ever love you more than you love yourself. No one is capable of wanting all the good in the world for you.
Cordelia Hills was too paranoid for her own good and she didn't forget to pass that onto Beverly.
The blonde took in a deep breath. It's okay, Bev. It's her kid, her one-night stand, and his brother. It's none of your business, get over it.
Klaus was waiting at Dwayne's shack when they returned. Once they approached the porch, he threw Dwayne's dead body at the back, covering it with a sheet. Beverly was thankful but confused. That wasn't a very...mean Klaus thing of him to do.
"There you are! I see you've found our wandering stray," And there he is back, "Perhaps you could shed some light on the situation. That appears to be a hybrid."
"His name was Dwayne."
Klaus shrugged nonchalantly, "Well, whoever it was, I didn't sire him. Any idea how that's possible?"
Beverly felt the tinge of a smile coming in as Hayley stomped forward, "As if you didn't know!"
Elijah held Hayley back and walked in front of her and Beverly as if to protect them from Klaus. His brother was unamused, commenting, "Ahhh, well, aren't you two fast friends? Oh, come on, then."
"What kind of horrible accusation have you conspired to levy against me?"
"Tyler Lockwood brought Hayley here to test a theory," Elijah started as Klaus nodded at him to continue, "That the blood of her child could be used to sire hybrids. He claims that you knew that. Furthermore, that you intended to use this knowledge to build an army."
Klaus took that in, the betrayal was clear but it was taken over quickly by anger, "And, of course, you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show interest in my own flesh and blood?"
"A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me, and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe it! How quickly you believe the worst, especially when it comes from her," He pointed over at Hayley who stood back, inching closer to Beverly who took a step back. Her dignity wouldn't let her be the loving and caring friend Hayley needed then.
"Oh, spare me your indignation. When have you ever demonstrated any kind of concern towards Hayley or her child, beyond your own selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said to me?" Elijah scoffed out, impersonating his brother, "Every king needs an heir!"
"My big brother. So, you doubt my intentions? Well, I can't say I'm surprised, standing next to the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother?" Klaus shrugged his shoulders, calling out, "A liar, a manipulator, a bastard."
"God, it would feel so good to say 'I told you so' right now," Beverly whispered underneath her breath, shifting from one foot to another.
Klaus approached Elijah, keeping it up, "That's all I am to you, isn't it? And Rebekah. And, judging by the way Hayley hangs on your every word, it's clear she feels the same way!" He paused, looking, even more, hurt, "No doubt my child will as well."
"Brother, if—"
He cut him off, "You've said all that needs to be said, brother," He takes a few steps back and held his arms out in defeat, "I'll play the role I've been given."
Klaus turned as though he was going to walk away, but instead, he turned back quickly and vamp-sped over to Elijah before biting him savagely on the neck. Hayley screamed in horror and ran over to him as Beverly took a couple of steps back. Overthinking the fact that sooner or later she will have to ignore all that blood and siphon out the bite.
He wiped out the blood off his mouth, "You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in. Consider that bite to be my parting gift to you both," Beverly furrowed her eyebrows together, was he pretending she is invisible?
She was mistaken when Klaus placed his hands over her shoulders, "You are not going to save him the misery of that."
Beverly didn't get to question what that meant as the dizziness settled in when he vamp-sped out of the Bayou, leaving Elijah and Hayley to fend for themselves.
࿐ ࿔ ✧˖*°
"You are mad,"
That was the first thing Beverly said as soon as she walked into the Mikaelson mansion.
"And you didn't exactly believe I knew about that little theory?"
Beverly chuckled humorlessly before turning to Klaus, "I am not your friend. I don't like and you don't like me and that is fine and understandable. I wasn't standing up for you."
"So you just didn't want to believe Hayley?"
The blonde took in a deep breath, "She is my friend...or was, I don't know. I believed her. I believed that her baby can make magical hybrids but I had a gut feeling that you didn't know about it. And I am always right, always."
Klaus nodded as Beverly made her way upstairs. That was a crazy enough day.
"Earlier in the Bayou, about the don't take everything from someone and leave them alive fiasco, an expert in that department?"
"You want to make some joke, don't you?"
He shook his head, "No, I just wanted to say that I had nothing to lose. I didn't care if someone was coming for revenge."
"Well...," Beverly pursed her lips together, "You do have something to lose now, time for some rearrangements, Klaus."
