Ethan's days which usually revolved around games, literature, and helping his mother now changed into doing the same things but with a small reminder of a certain handsome basketball guy. 

It's like a picture of that guy is stuck to his retina, constantly reminding him of the said guy. But Ethan is strong, he is strong enough to go through changing clothes among many naked guys in the locker room, mostly because all those guys looked like underdeveloped monkeys, but still, he never felt a thing among them, so he can definitely go through this.

With this strong resolve, he entered his classroom, sat on his designated chair, pulled out his tennis book, and resumed reading the rules of sets. But he was unaware of the upcoming disaster, which can and will change his future soon.

"Reading again?" asked David. 

"Uh-huh" nodded Ethan not looking up.

"Why are you into tennis? It's such a boring sport, none of my other friends are in it." complained David loudly.

"Yeah, like you even have any other friend." Ethan replied sassily.

"If you come to the parties I invite you in, you will see how many friends I actually have, it's your fault you can't meet my friends." He whined.

"Okay, okay so what do your friends play then." Ethan asked, just so David would stop whining.

"Cricket, hockey and a very good friend of mine is basketball captain." David replied proudly.

This pulled Ethan's attention out of the book, the mention of basketball reminded him of that guy yet again.

"Who is that friend, I never heard of him." Ethan asked, trying to keep his voice casual to not betray his sudden interest.

"Oh he is that friend I told you about, who punched another kid and fractured his jaw last year." David reminded excitedly. 

Ethan took a sigh of disappointment, which was supposed to be one of relief, but his unconscious desire to meet that guy again turned that relief into disappointment.

"If you want I can talk to him so you can join the team practices." David offered, taking his disappointment differently.

"No, I don't have time to stay back for practices. You know I have that literature tuition." Ethan sighed again.

"It's alright man, besides there is this new guy who joined the basketball team, so you squeezing in would be difficult too." 

"There is? Who is he" Ethan asked keeping his voice casual again, thanking all the gods that David was already stupid enough to see his excitement.

"I don't know, he is a new guy. He changed school midterm, but they say he is amazing at basketball, totally crushed half the team alone." Davis explained.

"Oh new guy, I didn't know there was a new guy in our school." Ethan said, trying to get more information.

"Of course you don't, you are always inside your video games or this stupid book these days." David complained.  "By the way, me and some friends are going to Andy's this weekend he has some new video games, he said he has this new Nintendo console from Japan. It might be true, his uncle lives in Japan, but I don't know guess we'll have to see for ourselves, you wanna come with me?" David asked.

"I don't know, what time though?" Ethan asked dismissively.

"In the morning, I'll call you. The whole basketball team is going, and that new guy too. He is very mysterious, guess we'll see how he is too." That did peak Ethan's attention.

"I'll come." replied Ethan shocking David. 

"Really, oh my God!" David nearly shouted and ran away to God knows where leaving Ethan to wonder why he was even friends with this weirdo.

Maybe it was the knowledge that Ethan would see that guy again or just the fact that his math teacher was injured and couldn't come to school, but Ethan's day went fantastic.

He was out after school was over, on his bicycle waiting for his sister to finally come down. The school was nearly empty at this point, and his sister was taking her sweet time coming downstairs.

"Where have you been?" Ethan asked annoyed. "I had to stand in the sun, what if I got tanned? You will be responsible if I get tanned today." Ethan whined annoyed at his sister.

"Stop being a baby, with the amount of SPF cream you have on, it's really hard to get a tan." She replied taking her bicycle out. "Seriously, what's wrong with you? Here everyone is dying to get a summer tan and then there you are, going above and beyond to stay pale." Alice complained, riding her bicycle faster to match with Ethan.

"I just don't like tan, why do you care? You should care more about getting out of the class after the last bell." Ethan fired back.

"Sorry, I was just busy. You know that friend I have from your grade. He is sick so I am helping him with his class president duties." She explained. 

"You are friends with a guy!?!" exclaimed Ethan, pulling the brakes of his bicycle so hard that he nearly fell over.

"Seriously that was all you took from it?" Alice said rolling her eyes.

They set off again after the initial shock.

"So, what are you helping him with?" Ethan asked bitterly.

"First of all, he is just a friend. Secondly, I just have to give his notes and some paperwork help to this new guy, what was his name again, yes, Joshua Cruz." she explained.

"How many new guys are there? I just heard about one that is in basketball." Ethan complained.

"There are no other new guys, I was talking about the same basketball guy, Joshua."

The second time that day, Ethan pulled the brakes so hard, that he almost fell off the seat of his bicycle.

"WHAT NOW!?" Alice asked, but Ethan was too far gone for any reply.

So the handsome basketball guy is Joshua, Joshua Cruz!!!!
