Pain.
Screams.
Blood.
A girl, roughly around eight years old, walked with her tiny shaking feet as they carried the girl's body soundlessly behind a thicket amidst all the screams and chaos going on around her. She squatted down as she tried to control her sobs.
"2 times 1 is 2... 2 times 2 is 4... 2 times 3 is... Uh... 6... 2 times 4 is—"
She abruptly put a hand over her mouth to stop any sort of static from escaping her mouth.
"Did you find her?!" A muscular man roared.
"Not yet, boss!" Another buffed-up man yelled from afar in response.
"Do something fast you useless punks!"
Men around him started scattering away further in search of the girl. A random tattooed guy jogged to the boss of the lot, scepticism written on his face.
"Boss, what do we do about the body?"
"Burn it."
The little girl's eyes enlarged as a soft sob escaped her lips. Tears of horror and despair started escaping her doe eyes.
"D-Dad..."
"Havin' fun there, little girl?" The boss squatted down in front of her and released a psychotic smile.
(A/N: Imagine it's like this without the red eyes)
Startled and frightened, the girl fell from her squatting position and started backing away from him. He smirked and leaned closer to her.
"Look, it's your daddy," He whispered. The girl whipped her head around only to wish she hadn't. Her father's body was being dragged away mercilessly to a nearby fire. She tried to move, but the guy held her back as he let out a sinister laugh.
"Dad!" She called out but shuddered once she realized the corpse didn't have any eyes.
They chiseled his eyes out.
She tried to break free but soon stopped as they hit her on the head to make her unconscious. The next time she opened her eyes, she found herself in a white marble room; blood splattered on its walls. Corpses— all without eyes— were scattered around the room.
ASHLYN's POV:
Another nightmare.
Sweet.
These days I don't even get daunted by these. It's a regular thing now. So, meh. I sat upon my bed and stretched myself awake. I looked for my phone and then checked my notifications. After reading the news and checking the weather forecast, I started making up my bed.
Today was 24th January, 8:00 AM. D-Day. Okay, first let's brush my teeth, bathe, get some healthy breakfast, get dressed and leave. Wait, what am I forgetting? Ah, right. Gotta drop by Ji-Sang's place first.
Swiftly getting my day planned, I headed to my bathroom to clean myself up for the first time in the last 168 hours. After that, I made my bed and try my best to tidy my room up a bit.
Did it work? Maybe.
Pouring some milk and cereal in a bowl, I started calming my growling stomach down. After eating, I washed the dishes and put them in their place. I won't be back here for a long time, so why not make things a bit more tidier?
"Wait is there a dress code—" I quickly skimmed through my emails and clicked the one that was sent to me 16 hours ago.
"So I can wear... Anything? Okay, cool." I nodded to myself before picking my regular Prussian blue hoodie and black skinny jeans. I stood in front of my full-body mirror.
Why do I look like I'm going to a funeral? Do I look like this 24/7?
Shaking my head, I picked out a t-shirt with Avengers printed on it. Time to take two. I stood in front of the mirror again.
This just looks childish.
Take three. I put on a tie-dye t-shirt this time.
I'm not going to a carnival.
Take four. This time around, I put on a black undervest; paired with a beige-white barred shirt.
Looks decent enough.
I tied my silver-dyed hair in a high ponytail while searching for my bike keys. Swinging the keys around my fingers, I put my sneakers on and seize my backpack. Taking a last look at my apartment, I leave for Ji-Sang's house, who's my only friend— not like I'm an introvert or something, other humans are just too confusing.

I rang the bell for the tenth time on his door, but he didn't answer.
"Hoe if you don't open up right now I-"
"Do you know how many times I shouted 'Hol' the fuck up I'm coming'?" Ji-Sang cut me off by opening the door.
"Oh did you- you should've shouted louder then! Now let me in!" I changed the topic to save my ass from embarrassment.
I carefully walked to his computer table, more like hopped. There was every kind of food on the floor; expired foods, empty chips packets, empty and half-eaten cup ramens, empty soda cans— you name it.
"I thought you got ditched by Black Crystals again; good to see you didn't," He mocked me while sitting on a chair in front of the table.
"Haha, jokes on you. I passed. Now give me the documents fast, don't wanna be late," I said monotonously, hopping on his table.
"Nuh-uh. Get your stinky butt off of my precious table." He shooed me off with a couple of documents.
"Skim through and tell me if somethin' is wrong,"
"M'kay," I leered at my biodata, "The name is Lee Ruan, age 21— that's my real age but never mind— originally Korean but stayed in Australia, Sydney since I was 6, cool, parents dead, no siblings, moved to the USA for four years to study at the Harvard University? Bitch what the fuc-"
"Do you want to get approved or not?" He cut me off.
"I do but-"
"Cool."
I grimaced and put the documents in my backpack.
"I'm leaving then, see you never," I turned to leave, but got stopped by Ji-Sang's arm.
"Ashlyn, you sure you can do this?" He asked, concern written on his handsome face. I smiled and hugged him to reassure him.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Besides, if things don't work out, you're here for me. I can just come back to you and start over again," I said, making him chuckle.
"You just don't know how to give up."
"Yea' now hug me back asshole, it's bad to keep a lady waiting,"
He awkwardly half-hugged me back. Pulling back, I asked,
"What's wrong, Ji?"
"I mean you're not the same as you were 10 years before, you're a full-grown woman now," He stated as a matter-of-fact.
"You hugged me yesterday too, did I grow up overnight?" I snickered.
"Hol' up- don't tell me you like me-" I gasped dramatically.
"No, my ugly ass sister. I'm the prince and you're my pet frog," He flicked my forehead.
"Ouch, sis-zoned."

I smiled as the cold yet refreshing wind hit my face through the visor of my helmet. I pulled out my phone and opened the email that had the directions before popping it on the phone holder that rested on the handlebar of my motorbike. It was a nice day, hopefully, everything goes as planned to make this fine day even finer.
Speeding up, I headed towards my destination, the Black Crystals; hidden in a forest at the heart of Seoul, South Korea.
"Best of luck, Ashlyn! Oh wait, I'm not Ash anymore. Best of luck,
Lee Ruan!"
