Help Someone

(Warning ⚠️: Mention of blood.)

Badboyhalo's Pov:

I collect my stuff from my locker, getting ready to leave for the day. Once I have collected all of my things, I start making my way to leave the room. Once I reach the door, I hear one of my co-workers in the room call out, "Bye, Dr. Halo!"

I look back at the familiar face, along with some other few faces in the room. I give a friendly smile and say, "Bye, everyone. Hope you all have a good rest of your day."

As I walk out of the room, I hear someone call out from behind me, "Likewise!"

I walk down the hospital halls, making my way to the front entrance. As I arrive at the doors of the front entrance, I give off a friendly wave at the familiar receptionist at the front. She waves back at me. With that, I go through the doors and leave the hospital. The hospital in itself is near the edge of town but still close to multiple buildings, meaning that it is always about an hour long walk back to my house, as my house is actually in the outskirts of town.

I start walking down the streets, passing by buildings that do not fit the year that we are in. (Imagine they are in a point in time similar to the 1930-40s.) I'm pretty sure other towns have evolved over time in architecture and stuff, but this town decided to keep the medieval theme. So, there are many buildings similar, if not, from the medieval times. You may find a few buildings away from the center of town that fit more into the year that we are in, but even then, they don't stick out too much from the medieval vibe that the town has.

Actually, the architecture isn't the only thing old-fashioned in this town. Most people either use horses or walk to get around. It isn't very common to find a car driving around in town. Many people prefer the old-fashioned way, though they do enjoy the medical and technological advancements that have thankfully reached our town. Another form of transportation here is by using a bicycle, but even then, it's not every day that you see a bicycle, unlike a horse, which is seen basically every day. I personally have neither a car, a horse, nor a bicycle. I just stick to walking.

One may find it inconvenient or may think that it takes up too much time for me, considering how my house is pretty far from the hospital that I work at, but I personally like the daily walks. It's quite nice to enjoy the calmness and silence that comes from these walks, unlike the busy and quite stressful atmosphere of the hospital. I am especially more at ease the further away from town I am, and the closer I get to the outskirts to my house. The further away, the more calm and quiet it is, hence why I bought a house on the outskirts.

I walk through the streets of town, slowly getting closer to the edge and then the outskirts of town, near the forest where my house is. (The picture above is Bad's house, but just imagine that there is no double door windows, that the front door is not a window door, that there is no front porch, and that the path is made of dirt and not of concrete pavement.) I get lost in thought as I instinctively walk through the familiar route that I take to get home. Suddenly, I come to a halt at the sound of familiar voices behind me. I turn around to find my friends Sapnap and Foolish running up to me and calling out my name. Once they catch up to me, Sapnap exclaims, "Bad! Good thing we caught up to you. Your shift is over, right? Well, of course it is if you are here and not in the hospital- anyway! Do you wanna come hang out with us at the nearby coffee shop? The rest of our friends are going to be there as well!"

"Oh- sorry... I don't think I'll go. I'm quite tired from work today."

Foolish and Sapnap pout at that. Sapnap says, "Oh, come on, Bad! We don't get to see you very often anymore! You rarely don't anywhere else but the hospital once you get out of the house. You need to go out and enjoy yourself a bit, man!"

I let out a half-hearted chuckle at that. I say, "Sorry, but work has been pretty demanding lately. It's very tiring working at a hospital. I would rather relax at home than waste more energy going out somewhere."

Foolish exclaims, "But the rest of your life can't just revolve around working!"

I shrug, dismissing the comment. I then say, "Well, I'll be going now. Maybe we can hang out some other time."

Sapnap and Foolish look at each other with a concerned look on their faces. Then they look at me with the best smile they can manage. Sapnap says, "Yeah, sure. We'll see you some other time, dude."

"Bye, you two."

I turn around and continue heading back to my house. I love my friends, but I just really am not in the mood to go out. I would rather stay at home right now. I deserve some proper rest after a day of hard work.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I've been walking for a while now. I'm on the outskirts of town, and I know that I'm not too far from my house since I'm already walking by the forest edge. I continue to calmly walk as I make my way to my house. Every now and then, I nonchalantly walk past leaves that graze me from a bush or a tree. All of a sudden, I stop upon seeing something red out of the corner of my eye. I stare back at the area I just passed by. That's weird... I've never seen anything red at the edge of the forest near my house. I walk back a few steps to investigate what I saw briefly.

I see from a distance a pretty large rock, mostly being covered by a bush, which blocks my view of the rock. The rock has little streaks and droplets of something red. Is that blood...? I hesitantly move closer, stepping onto territory that would be considered as the forest. I've never really stepped into the forest, I just walk right by the edge. I move around the bush, covering most of my view of the rock. I let out a gasp of horror once I realize that the rock indeed has a splatter of blood on it. But what terrifies me most is the sight of an unconscious- maybe even lifeless body lying beside the rock.

A young man bleeding by the head, with visible bruises and closed off wounds from cuts on his tan skin that seem like they could leave a scar. What the fudge happened here!? What has this man been doing in the forest that has left him this badly injured!? Wait- actually, if he's messing around in the forest, then why is he wearing rags? I don't think they could properly be considered clothing- you know what, forget about that! That's not important right now. My doctor instincts immediately kick in as I crouch down beside the man. I check for a pulse for any sign that he is alive.

I let out a breath of relief at finding a pulse. But it's abnormally slow. This guy is clearly on the brink of death. The blood splatter on the rock seems rather fresh, so whatever happened that caused this scene must have happened some minutes ago. It probably happened as I was walking over here. Looks like I arrived just in time. But I need to act fast if I want to save this man's life.

I think for a quick moment. I can't take him back to the hospital. It is too far away, and I don't have any sort of vehicle. Thankfully, I have some medical supplies in my house, and it isn't too far away. It will take a few minutes to get there. If I want to really help this guy, the best option I have is to take him to my house. I quickly take action and start to carefully lift up the man's body in my arms, carrying him bridal style. I make sure that his head rests on my shoulder. This is the easiest way that I can carry him right now. I feel like the blood dripping from his head is going to stain my shirt with blood, but I don't care right now. Helping someone at the expense of clothes is better than having them die.

I turn around and start jogging up towards my house. If I run, I might fall, and if I walk, I'll be too slow, so the best thing right now is to jog. As soon as I get home, I'm going to treat his I tired head first, stop the bleeding so that he survives, and if it goes well, maybe I'll treat those bruises and cuts of his. Though the wounds are closed off and seem to have been healing, some bruises seem pretty faded after all; the wounds don't look like they've been properly taken care of at all.

Gosh, what happened to this guy? What led up to this point for him to be in this state? Even though I have questions, I won't have any answers unless this man tells me. If he doesn't, then... that's really up to him. All that matters is if he is going to survive, and the one thing I know in this situation is that I am going to save his life.
