Prologue: The Living Weapon
"Sigma! Sigma, where are you?!?"
A woman, presumably in her late 20's, ran into the dimly lighted laboratory, looking frantically around the room. She had long, pitch-black hair that was pulled into a messy bun, and dark brown eyes behind a pair of square shaped glasses. She pulled off her white lab coat and tossed it onto one of the tables, revealing her tight blue shirt and black leggings. She had a panicked look on her face as she walked around the huge laboratory, her black boots clacking loudly against the hard tile floor.
"Sigma! Sig- Ah, there you are!" The woman called, letting out a loud sigh of relief. In front of her was what appeared to be a ten year old boy, who was petting a large robot dog. The dog was about the same height as the boy, and it looked almost exactly like a Siberian Husky, but it was made out of a gleaming chrome metal. Despite its menacing red eyes, the dog was rolling happily around the floor as the boy patted its stomach.
The boy was wearing a loose white shirt, and long black pants, his messy brown hair swept across his face as he noticed the woman walking up to him.
"Hi Mommy!" He said cheerfully, flashing the woman a bright, innocent smile. Despite the panicked look on her face, she managed to give the boy a small smile back. Seeing her worried expression, the smile disappeared from his face, replaced with a small frown. "Mommy, what's wrong?" The boy let out a small whimper. "I-Is the mean lady making me do those tests again? I don't want to do anymore of those Mommy, they hurt..."
The woman sighed and shook her head, before kneeling down until she was eye level with the young boy, whose bright brown eyes seemed to glow in the dim light. She put a hand on his cheek, and spoke in a reassuring, calm voice. "No, no sweetheart, not those. We're going outside."
"Outside?" The boy said, cocking his head a bit in confusion. "We're going outside? I thought I wasn't supposed to go outside."
The woman chuckled grimly, and the boy couldn't help but notice a single tear fall down her cheek as she spoke again. "Yes, we're going outside. No, we aren't supposed to, but I'm sure you'll love it. No more tests, no more pain, we'll both be free. The mean lady can't get us out there."
"But what about the other guys?"
"Her soldiers can't get us either Sigma, it'll just be you and me. Our little family."
"Can Scraps come with us too?" The boy said, petting the robotic Husky next to him. Scraps let out a sharp bark as she pulled herself off of the ground, licking the boy's cheek with her cold metal tongue.
The woman laughed, moving her free hand to rub Scraps' muzzle. The woman knew that Scraps was like the boy's best friend, since the boy had no one else to play with growing up in the laboratory. "Yes, Scraps can come, but we have to hurry and leave now Sigma, before-"
As if just on cue, a series of shouts could be heard from outside the laboratory, and the panicked look reappeared on the woman's face, she stood, grabbing the boy's hand before running toward to door at the opposite side of the room, dragging the boy along with her. Scraps let out a bark before she ran after them, her large metal paws thumping loudly against the tile. Just as the woman threw open the door, ushering the boy and Scraps inside, the other door into the lab burst open, soldiers in black and gray uniforms rushing into the room. They had the letters 'I.O' in big yellow letters on their chests, and they all had pistols in their hands as the poured into the room. The woman flinched, before running to the long corridor, slamming the door shut behind her. The boy was at the end of the corridor, trying to get the door open, but with no avail. He and the woman both knew that the other doors only led to dead ends, and the woman ran over, and tried to help get the door open.
It was only moments before the door into the corridor burst open, soldiers filing in and posing their pistols at the three huddled at the other side. The woman cursed loudly, before once again trying the door, which still wouldn't budge. The soldiers advanced, and the woman heard Scraps bark loudly, before the metal canine ran and hurled herself at the soldiers. Continuing to push against the door, the woman turned her head just in time to see Scraps sink her teeth into a soldier's neck, gripping it between her jaws and thrashing her head around, the soldier flung around like a ragdoll as blood sprayed along the corridor. The other soldiers shot at her, but their bullets merely bounced against her coat, leaving tiny dents in her metal. She threw the dead soldier against the wall, and Scraps jumped at another soldier.
But this soldier was ready for her, and pulled out a small red rod, before thrusting it into Scraps open mouth. As soon as the rod touched her metal, a wave of electricity ran through her, bolts and sparks running along the dog's coat before she fell to the ground, the lights gone from her eyes, the robot lying motionless and broken on the ground. "Scraps!!!" The boy screamed, tears rolling down his cheeks. The woman fought to keep her tears away as she pushed herself against the door a final time, the door swinging open.
She and the boy turned the corner into yet another corridor, and the woman pulled the boy with her into the first door they came upon, which happened to be a supply closet. The room became pitch black as they shut the door, the only light coming from the boy's eyes, which were glowing slightly as they sat silently in the cramped closet. They both held their breath as they heard footsteps walk past the door, fading into a faint noise as they continued down the corridor, ignoring the supply closet.
When she was sure the soldiers were far away, the woman flicked on the lights in the room, the glow from the boy's eyes disappearing as the light switched on. "Are you okay Sigma?" The woman asked the boy, who still had tears rolling down his cheeks.
"T-They got S-Scraps! Are they going to get us t-too Mommy?" The boy said, sobs wracking his body as he wrapped his arms around the woman, who returned the hug, pulling the boy close to her.
"I promise they won't sweetheart, I promise..." The woman replied, keeping a calm voice despite the tears rolling down her cheeks.
The woman leaned back, lifting up the boys chin with her hand and staring sadly into his eyes. "Mommy will get you out of here, but I have to put you asleep for a little bit, okay sweetheart?" She said in a cracking voice, sadness pouring into her voice.
The boy, though confused, nodded his head. "Okay. When will I wake up?"
The woman smiled, a sad smile on her face. "When we get outside, and we are both safe together."
"Will Scraps be there too?" The boy said with a hopeful smile on his face.
"Of course sweetheart."
"Okay... Goodnight Mommy."
The woman forced a smile, before she leaned and kissed the boy's forehead, running her hand along his back. She felt tears running down her cheeks like a waterfall as she felt the boy's breath hitch, before it completely stopped, the boy falling limp in her arms as he fell into his deep slumber.
"Goodnight Sigma... always remember that your Mommy will always love you..."

The Initial Order was an underground organization, conducting illegal experiments unbeknownst to the government, originating from Texas. The only people who knew of them either worked for them, or were dead. They had a small league of scientists and engineers that worked in the Order's high ranks, creating new weapons and equipment for the soldiers and the leader of the organization, the Overseer. Only one person knew her name, and she makes sure that it is kept that way.
The Initial Order conducted Project S0laris in hope of creating the perfect weapon. There were hundreds of failed experiments and creations, all of which were immediately destroyed after the Overseer deemed them as imperfect. Five years after the project started, inventor Grace Arsement created what the Initial Order truly considered as the ultimate weapon.
The S-314 android was the perfect being. Unlike any other robot or android made before it, the S-314 had its own consciousness, its mind functioning like that of a human's, rather than a robot's. Because of this, it could also feel emotion, and it held memories, rather than data. The S-314 also aged like a human, an impossible feat for a robotic being. When it was created, it had the appearance of a five year old, but it aged, and had the appearance of a ten year old when it was last sighted, thirteen years ago.
Grace Arsement and the S-314 unit broke out of the Initial Order headquarters five years after the android's creation. Although they made it out of the headquarters, and presumably halfway across the state, Grace was caught and brought back to the Initial Order, where she was convicted of treason by the Overseer.
The S-314 unit was never found.
