Chapter 6: Running

Elle came to when she heard someone trying to yank open the passenger side door. She couldn't make out who it was, but she knew she wanted to get away as quickly as possible.

She turned the handle on her own door and easily made it out of the sports car, running in the direction of the neighborhood she crashed near.

Looking over her shoulder, she caught sight of a tall, muscular, raven-haired male who was hot on her trail. Much to her dismay, several yards behind the male, ran the platinum blonde who acted so strangely at the mall.

Panic settling into her stomach again, Elle picked up her pace, her legs pumping with everything she had.

She hadn't made it far when a familiar voice shouted out her name.

"Elle! Over here." Carrington stood, standing on a large wooded porch belonging to a two-story, Victorian style home complete with white shudders and a large balcony on the second level. Next to her new friend, stood another girl who had long jet black hair, amber eyes, a slightly different shade than Carrington's, tanned skin, and a tribal tattoo exactly like Carrington's on her right arm.

Elle ran quickly up to the porch and to what she assumed would be safety.

"Carrington, you have to help me!" She declared, her panicked state alarming the two females before her. "There's two people trying to kidnap me! The girl just showed up at the mall claiming to be my aunt's daughter and then lured me behind the mall to these woods. She was like in a trance. She said my Aunt wanted to meet me since my family has nothing to do with her. And then I got away. Someone rammed into the side of Will's car. I got away and they started running after me!"

"Whoa, whoa. Slow down, Elle." Carrington calmed the blonde down. "Who's after you?"

Elle spun around when she heard the footsteps pounding against the pavement. "Them!"

Her eyes widened as Helaina and who Elle assumed to be her accomplice ran up towards the house, serious expressions on their face.

"You will be coming to see your Aunt." Helaina spoke in that same tone she had used back at the mall. "Right now."

"And you'll be leaving right now." Carrington pushed Elle behind her and then stood in a protective stance, speaking to the platinum blonde who held the trance-like stare.

"Moon Child, whatever your purpose with this girl is, it's not as important as what we need her for." Helaina was speaking in that cryptic tone of her's again.

"Moon Child? Need me? What are you talking about?" Elle was so confused.

Helaina looked over to Elle, her hazel eyes locking with the other blonde's electric blue ones. "You're the key to everything, Elle. That's why your aunt needs you."

"Hey, blonde bitch, you're being extremely cryptic and it's really starting to annoy me, so why don't you get the hell off Angel, here's, porch and crawl back to the place you came from?" Carrington never had been one to keep her mouth shut. Especially not when she'd basically just been outed. Thankfully, Elle seemed to not know anything about the Moon Children, so her secret wouldn't be blown just yet.

"We aren't leaving without the girl." The male with raven hair spoke in a deep baritone, stepping in front of Helaina and crossing his muscular arms. "So hand her over."

"Not happening, buddy. Now get the hell off my porch." The jet black haired female, named Angel, glared her eyes and crossed her own arms across her chest.

"I told you, I'm not going anywhere without the girl." The male took a step forward, almost squared up with the female.

"And I told YOU, get the hell off my porch." The female stood her ground, her eyes full of anger. She didn't know anything about the blonde standing behind Carrington, but she knew she didn't want these strangers taking her for whatever they had planned.

"Your bark doesn't scare me, little girl." The male pushed his way past her and charged towards Elle, fury showing on his face.

He started to grab Elle's arm and yank her forward when Angel kicked the male's legs out from underneath him, a loud thud sounding as his body made contact with the wooden porch.

Helaina rushed onto the porch then, pulling out a syringe that glistened in the sun, causing the pit of Elle's stomach to fill with dread.

A very audible gasp escaped Elle's mouth as the platinum blonde jammed the syringe into Angel's neck. Immediately, Angel dropped to her knees, her amber eyes flashing brightly and turning a golden yellow.

The dark haired female opened her mouth and let out a high pitched shriek of pain, her teeth beginning to sharpen and turn into fangs. Following the shriek, the female's bones began cracking and her limbs began bending at unnatural angles.

Elle, not sure what was happening, stood frozen in fear.

"Angel, are you okay?" Carrington momentarily left Elle's side and rushed to her other friend. When Angel didn't reply, Carrington glared up at Helaina. "What have you done to her?"

"Only what my mistress has instructed." The platinum blonde replied, emotionless, her eyes then darting over to Elle and locking with her electric blues. "You are coming with me to see your aunt."

Elle didn't think, she just ran as Helaina pushed her way past the two females knelt on the porch and charged towards her, the male that Angel knocked down finally coming to his senses and joining in the pursuit.

She had made it halfway to the street when she heard another shriek come from the porch. What she saw as she looked up to the porch, had the hairs on the back of her neck standing up.

The female named Angel was on all fours, her spine arched and her body shaking violently. She was in this state for several moments before an ear splitting howl escaped her mouth and her entire body began transforming.

Her limbs distorted even more, her teeth now sharp as a wolf's. Her once amber eyes were completely gold, appearing like an animal's and growing all over her body was now snow white fur. Her nails sharpened to claws, her feet turning to paws before everyone's very eyes.

It was such an shocking transformation, Elle didn't know whether to be appalled or not surprised at all. She was a witch after all, and had seen a lot of shocking things in her lifetime, but she can't recall ever seeing someone transform into a wolf before her eyes. She'd have to make it her goal to ask her parents about that later, but for now, she felt she needed to get as far away from the girl who was apparently Carrington's friend and the strangers trying to kidnap her.

She had started running again, making it to the end of the street and where Helaina and the guy had rammed into Will's Audi. Not spotting anyone coming after her, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed up the very person whose car now appeared totaled.

Here brother picked up on the third ring.

"Hey, Elle. How's the mall?" His voice was cheerful and relaxed, making her feel guilty for what she was about to tell him.

"Oh, you know. Same stores as back home. Spent entirely way too much money. Ran into someone who claimed to be our cousin. Then mentioned person attempted to kidnap me. Got away from mentioned person and started driving home when person rammed into the side of your Audi. I'm so sorry about that! I know you'll kill me for it, but it wasn't my fault!" Elle began explaining all in one breath. "Oh and then I started running away from the crash only to find our new neighbor at a strange girl's house, who oh, how do I explain this? Just turned into a wolf!"

"Whoa! Whoa. Slow down Elle. You were in a crash?" His voice immediately was filled with concern.

Elle kept looking back and forth, waiting for Helaina and her male accomplice to show up and try to kidnap her again.

"Where are you, Elle? Are the people still around you? Where's Carrington?"

Her eyes widened when she heard footsteps pounding against the pavement behind her. Spinning around, as she assumed she would, she saw her kidnappers.

"You really don't want a family reunion, eh?" The male spoke in that deep baritone of his, intimidating Elle with just a glance of his emerald eyes.

"William, send help!" Elle shouted just as the male charged at her and knocked her cell out of her hand.

"It doesn't matter who you call, little girl. We're still taking you to your aunt." The male was close enough that Elle could smell the nauseating scent of his disgusting breath.

"We'll see about that!" Elle closed her eyes and began chanting, the two strangers standing before her suddenly freezing as Helaina had when she'd escaped from her earlier.

When the blonde witch was sure her kidnappers were subdued and truly immobilized, she began running back towards the house her friend had been at.

Unfortunately, the sky had darkened suddenly, giving Elle a terrible feeling in her stomach as she ran towards where she assumed was safety.

To make matters even worst, rain started falling and making it difficult to see anything and causing Elle to get all turned around. She didn't know which direction to go or even which direction she came from so she stopped running, only to collide right into a solid form.

Looking up, her heart dropped. It was the male from before and he wasn't alone. Helaina stood behind him, a hooded figure standing beside her.

The male grabbed and pinned Elle's arms behind her back, spinning her around and forcing her to walk towards the other two.

As soon as they were in front of the hooded figure, with about two feet between them, the figure let the hood fall down.

Elle let out a very audible gasp when she saw who it was.
