Chapter 4: Party Time

Pulling the Mustang to a stop behind the many other cars parked in the massive driveway of the Victorian Mansion, Carrington shut the engine off.

With the roar of the vehicle no longer in her ears, Elle picked up on the sound of music being played in the back yard, and a familiar urge to dance filled her.

When she lived back in New England, Elle had attended many parties with her brother and enjoyed dancing at every one. This one would be no different and as she and the two siblings walked towards the back yard of the large property, she felt herself already moving to the music.

"You like to dance, Elle?" Ethan asked casually, noticing the sway of her hips as she walked ahead of him.

She looked at him over her shoulder, a mischievous look on her face and hips still swaying in rhythm to the music greeting their ears. "I love dancing."

Ethan gulped, her mischievous expression affecting him in ways he hadn't experienced before. It was almost hypnotic and mesmerized him as he stared into her bright electric blues.

"Do you like dancing, Ethan?" The gorgeous blonde spun around and threw her hands above her head, moving her hips back and forth, never breaking eye contact with the male before her.

"Uh. . . Yes, but I'm not a very good dancer." He admitted aloud and beside him, his sister let out a chuckle.

"He couldn't dance to save a fly." The bronze haired female stated, still chuckling.

"That's because you haven't danced with me yet." Elle's eyes held a flirty look in them and called out to Ethan.

"Maybe I should dance with you then." His eyes held a flirty look in them as well as he held his hand out to her and she took it.

Carrington just looked between the two, sensing the chemistry they seemed to have.

Remembering his sister, Ethan turned around and asked, "Will you be okay by yourself? I know you hate it when when you're not attached to your big brother's hip."

Carrington rolled her eyes. "You are so dramatic. And if I recall correctly you were the one who wouldn't leave my side when we went to the last party. Even when Todd Owens asked me to dance. You were such a creep standing right beside us, getting in everyone's way as they danced around you."

"If I recall correctly, the only reason I stuck by you was because Jenna Thorn wouldn't stop trying to get me to go upstairs to her room and get it on." Ethan glared at her. "She kept saying you told her how into her I was, which I must clarify, I was not. And how I had only come to the party so I could sleep with her. Again, I clarify, this was not the truth."

"That girl would believe anything she's told. She's so gullible. In my defense, I had to get you back for stuffing my pillow case full of rubber snakes."

Elle let out a giggle, enjoying seeing the banter between her new friends. It reminded her a lot of herself and her William.

"And do you remember why I filled your pillow case with rubber snakes?" Ethan gave her that look only brother's gave you.

"Because when you were asleep, I put shaving cream all over your face and then tickled your cheek with a feather. You should have seen your face when you woke up. Priceless. And all that shaving cream! What a mess." Carrington couldn't help, but laugh out loud at the fond memory.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the Rosewood siblings." A deep, masculine voice sounded behind them.

Turning to the sound of the voice, Elle saw a handsome, very tall and muscular male with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He held an arrogant smile on his face, his jaw chiseled and the predominant feature on his face. Wanting to seem cooler, he fluffed the collar of his sky blue button up t-shirt out and unbuttoned several buttons to show off his abs.

"Who might this lovely beauty be?" Looking Elle up and down, the male stranger licked his lips, his smile turning to a flirty smirk.

"Someone not interested." Elle replied boldly. Even though the male was attractive, Elle knew his type and didn't want anything to do with him.

"Oh, baby. You'll be interested once you see what I can do." He said with a cocky grin, waggling his eyebrows suggestively.

"And you'll see I'm still not interested in Calvin Klein wannabe models." Elle retorted with a disgusted look on her face.

"Carr, Ethan, is my brother bothering you guys again?" A feminine voice filled Elle's ears as a female, nearly as tall as the male, walked up behind them and pinched the male's cheeks. "I don't know why I keep having to tell you to leave my party guests alone, Adam."

The female had long wavy chestnut brown hair pulled away from her pretty face, hazel eyes, the same shade as her brother's, and high cheekbones. She wore a sky blue, form-fitting, knee length, cocktail dress that showed the appropriate amount of cleavage, that slit up the side and showed off her tanned legs. On her feet she wore a pare of white wedge shoes and in her hair she wore a white headband, making her look very much like a model out of a magazine.

"Oh, I don't recall ever seeing you at one of our parties. What's your name?" The female noticed Elle standing beside Ethan and smiled politely.

"Eva, this is Elle Lewis. She's our new neighbor and new resident of Roseville." Carrington spoke before Elle could even say anything.

"Welcome to our beautiful little town. May all your dreams bloom like our population." The female said sarcastically and then rolled her eyes. "I hate saying that. My mother insists on me saying it any time I meet a new resident of Roseville, though. Ugh! Anyways, my name is Evalynn Chamberlain, but please call me Eva. And this big lug here, is my twin brother, Adam."

"Older twin brother!" The male declared, ruffling his twin's hair, causing her to scowl at him.

"Only by ten minutes! Which you never let me forget." Eva groaned.

"It's nice to meet you, Eva." Elle held her hand out politely and the other female shook it.

Instantly, both females saw a vision of a white wolf rescuing Elle from a silhouetted enemy and then flashing to another scene of Elle standing before a female vampire that looked very similar to her.

Dropping each other's hand, the females stared at each other in awe.

"Uh, are you guys okay?" Carrington waved her hand in front of the two, snapping their attention back to the others.

"Oh yeah. Sorry. I spaced out." Elle apologized, shaking her head to clear it. Quickly wanting to get out the situation she was in, she declared, "Let's dance, guys!"

Before anyone could react, Elle was out on the dance floor, moving her hips to the pop song playing and throwing her arms above her head, letting herself get lost into the music, a guy already walking up and joining her.

Ethan sent a glare to the back of the guy's head, feeling a strong possessiveness over Elle. Not realizing he was doing it, he marched right over to the two dancing and yanked the unknown guy away from the blonde.

Elle's eyes widened and her eyebrows raised in confusion.

The guy that was yanked away, glared at Ethan, raising his fist to punch him. Ethan dodged the punch, however and landed his own, starting a fight with the stranger.

"What the hell, Ethan?!?" Elle struggled to pull him away from the other guy, but Ethan was stronger and unreachable in the fit of rage that had suddenly overcome him.

Carrington ran over as soon as she heard her new friend shout and noticed the scene unfolding. Upon reaching the fighting males, Carrington jumped between the two and easily pushed them apart.

"What the hell is your problem, man?" The other male shouted, still glaring at Ethan.

"Yes, I'd like to know that too!" Elle declared, sending her own glare. "What is your problem?"

Ethan, coming to his senses finally, replied, "I don't know. . ."

He just ran off after that, disappearing into the crowd of party-goers, his sister apologizing to the stranger and Elle for her brother's actions and then running after him.

Elle just shook her head, excusing herself from the stranger and deciding to call her brother for a ride home.

* * *

Elle woke up, stretching her limbs and yawning widely. Sunshine shown through her partially opened curtains, birds chirping outside her window.

Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she stood up and walked over to the bay window, pushing open the curtains and welcoming in the beautiful day as she opened the window.

Sounds of an engine being worked on echoed up to her window from the driveway next door. Looking over, she saw two sets of legs under a blue Corvette. One pair she knew belonged to her brother, since he had on the black and red tennis shoes she bought him for his birthday two months ago and the other pair, she could only assume were Ethan's.

Thoughts of the night before began to drift into her mind. Why had Ethan acted like he did? One minute he was fine when she walked away and then the next he just snapped and pulled the stranger she danced with away. Then Ethan ran off and she didn't see him again that night.

Deciding to approach Ethan about it, Elle walked away from the window and started getting ready for the day.

A half hour later she walked downstairs and out the front door, her sky blue peep toe shoes clicking against the driveway as she made her way to the vehicle being worked on.

Upon reaching the vehicle, Elle knocked on the front hood, causing both males to scream and roll out from under the car.

"Damn, Elle! You trying to give us a heart attack?" Her brother scowled at her, holding his hand over his heart dramatically.

Ethan had an equal look of shock on his face, but once he recovered, his eyes dropped to the ground and he frowned, not being able to look the blonde in the eye after what happened the night before.

"Sorry, guys. I guess I could have made my presence known a little better." She replied innocently.

"No kidding." William scoffed, wiping his forehead with a white rag he pulled out the back pocket of his black jeans. He then passed it over to Ethan who wiped his forehead as well.

Despite his sweaty state, Elle found herself checking out the taller male before her. His gray t-shirt clung to his body and showed off his well-defined abs, his muscles bulging as he wiped his forehead with the towel.

Images began forming in the blonde's head of Ethan carrying her in his strong arms and sitting her gently onto the large bed in her bedroom. He would then lay down with his body pressed against her's, him pulling her legs up around his waist. Then he would lean down and ever so gently press his lips against Elle's, a fire igniting inside her. . .

"Did you need something, Elle?" William cleared his throat, noticing his sister's gawking at their neighbor.

She shook her head, snapping out of the lust-filled state she had suddenly gone into.

"Um, I just wanted to talk to Ethan about something. Could we maybe talk in private for a moment?" She replied to her brother, but directed the question to the other male.

"Uh, okay. I'll just head inside for a little bit." William thought it was odd his sister would request such a thing, especially after only meeting the guy a couple days ago, but knew once Elle had something set in her mind, there was no changing it.

Elle sent a smile to her brother and then a nervous feeling settled in her stomach as she and Ethan were left, standing alone.

What was she supposed to say now?
