v. project loveless

Jungkook wasn't happy when Yoongi waltzed into their apartment wearing another man's shirt, visible, fresh hickeys running down his neck— no doubt in other parts of his body as well, Jungkook thought to himself. Yoongi only smiled, waving at Jungkook.

"Morning." he greeted, making a beeline towards the kitchen, where Taehyung was making breakfast. "Sorry, I'm late."

Jungkook scoffed, crossing his arms. "You seem to have had a great time, Yoongi."

"Don't sound so jealous, baby, you know I only have eyes for you." Yoongi mused, winking exaggeratedly at Jungkook. "What's for breakfast? I'm starving."

"Just some pancakes and eggs," Taehyung answered, smiling slightly. "I'm kind of tired to make a big breakfast. Kind of sore. Yoongi, do you need some painkillers?"

Yoongi chuckled at the statement. "Painkillers? What's that? The pain's all part of the fun. Ain't that right, babe?"

Jungkook said nothing, opting to smile wanly instead. He couldn't understand how Yoongi was so casual about this. It didn't faze him at all to call Jungkook pet names, endearing names that made Jungkook's heart soar out of his chest. But for Yoongi, they were meaningless words he used on the daily. Jungkook was sure Yoongi had already used them on Hoseok, it was one of his go-to words of affection, after all. Still, a part of Jungkook hoped that Yoongi genuinely meant them when he used them on him.

"Seems like Jungkook was the only one who didn't have much fun last night," Yoongi said, cocking his head to the side. "What happened to them?"

Jungkook clicked his tongue. "Namjoon already had his dick in some girl's pussy. That left me with Jimin. Jimin, being the caring, considerate sap he is, stayed with me and then took me to his room to talk. He dropped me off here. No action for me."

"Aw, does Jungkook want some?" Taehyung snickered, raising his brows suggestively.

"Fuck off, Taehyung." Jungkook murmured. "I'm not horny bastards like you two."

Yoongi hummed. "I beg to differ, Jungkook. You may be the worst of all of us."

"If that's what helps you sleep at night." Jungkook rolled his eyes. At the sound of the notification coming from his phone, he pulled it out, smirking to himself. Yoongi eyed Jungkook's reaction.

"That one of your loverboys?" Yoongi asked, with no trace of jealousy in his tone. He sounded curious, and at the question, even Taehyung looked up from his meal, arching a brow. Jungkook nodded. "Damn, already got one of them worrying for you? I thought this was supposed to be a challenge."

park jimin: hey, minjun! i hope you're feeling better :)

park jimin: listen, i know it's a bit late, but there's a cafe downtown i'd love to take you to. i feel bad for forcing you home, and i thought you might need someone to talk to.

park jimin: no pressure, of course!

"Asking me out on a date already." Jungkook scoffed smugly, waving his phone in triumph. "And I didn't even have to sleep with him."

Yoongi shook his head. "I didn't give Hoseok my number. File suggests he prefers the chase over anything. Made up some bullshit about fate to keep him intrigued."

Taehyung burst into laughter. "Fate? That's what you hooked him on? Yoongi, I think you might either be the cockiest son of a bitch or the stupidest one."

"That's where you're wrong," Yoongi smirked, pointing to himself. "This is his shirt. And this," he pulled the shirt down. "Are only some of his marks on me. I doubt someone not interested in me would go all out. I've got him wrapped around my finger, I know it."

"Way to be cocky, Min." Jungkook murmured, stashing his phone back in his pocket. "I'll be heading out now. Wouldn't want to keep Jimin waiting."

Jungkook went into his room to change quickly, making sure to put on an outfit that would envoke maximum pity, while still looking appealing. It wasn't hard— just a pair of grey joggers and an oversized sweater. He put on his hazel contacts, eyes watering slightly at it, and he ran his fingers through his hair, making sure that it looked messy.

park jimin: i'm already waiting outside for you.

Yoongi let out a low whistle as Jungkook emerged from the room, letting his eyes rake over Jungkook's figure. Jungkook tried not to let Yoongi's blatant gaze get the best of him, but already he could feel his heart pick up, slight heat coming from his cheeks.

"If Jimin doesn't fuck you hard, then I will when you get back," Yoongi smirked, biting his bottom lip exaggeratedly. A slap in the head followed the statement. "Ow! What the fuck, Taehyung?"

"Stop being a horny little bitch." Taehyung deadpanned, resisting the urge to toss the towel in his hand.

"I'm only a horny little bitch for Jungkook. Isn't that right, Jungkook?" Yoongi winked, earning another slap in the head. Jungkook did not say anything, but the tint of his already flushed cheeks gave him away. "See, even Jungkook agrees. I'll be waiting for you, baby."

"Shut up," Jungkook mumbled, leaving the apartment. Once Taehyung knew Jungkook was out of earshot, he turned to look at Yoongi, a stern expression on his face.

"What?" Yoongi scoffed, taking a sip of his black coffee. "You know I don't mean any harm when I say those things."

"Yoongi, you can't say things to Jungkook," Taehyung answered. "You know how he feels about you?"

Yoongi arched a brow. "About me? He doesn't feel anything for me. I wouldn't worry about it." He cocked his head slightly. "Why are you bothered? Do you have the hots for Jungkook?"

Taehyung snorted. "No. Why would I? He's a little brother to me, which is why I'm telling you to stop playing with him like that. The boy loves you, Yoongi."

"Yeah, just as much as I love my exes." Yoongi snickered. "Look, whatever Jungkook and I have is strictly ours. Back off. He consented to my teasing as soon as he gave me a yes. I'm only doing what I'm allowed to do."

Taehyung shook his head at Yoongi's careless statement. Yoongi's mentality was one that surprised him, one he hadn't expected from a twenty-one year old. Usually, when one was twenty-one, they were in college, dating, going to parties. But, Yoongi, he'd been in Project Heartbreak since he was eighteen. He showed no remorse for anything he did, looping heartbreak after heartbreak on his belt, advancing the ranks at seemingly inhumane speeds.

Maybe, it was just Yoongi's charm. Maybe, it was the constant hungry look in his eyes for drama. Maybe, it was the no matter how many times he'd exposed himself to love, Yoongi didn't fall for them.

Taehyung had worked with Yoongi for about a year now, and to him, it felt like he had just met Yoongi. Yoongi enveloped himself in a blanket of mystery, never letting his guard down— not even to people he was close to. Still, sometimes, Taehyung could spot the longing in his eyes, which was always replaced by coldness. Everyone had a reason for becoming the way they were, but Taehyung was no closer to figuring out Yoongi's tics than Yoongi was figuring out Jungkook's feelings.

"What if Jungkook did have feelings for you?" Taehyung questioned, "What would you do then?"

"Nothing." Yoongi answered nonchalantly. "Why would I do anything? It's not like I have feelings for him. Nor, do I want to have feelings for him. Imagine that. Me in love with Jungkook? Please. That is a recipe for disaster."

"What if it was someone besides Jungkook?" Taehyung suggested. Yoongi stared at him amused.

"Bold of you to assume I would want to fall in love with someone in the first place. Why the fuck would I want a headache like that?"

Their conversation drifted into silence at Yoongi's cutthroat words. He didn't look regretful making the statement. To Taehyung, it sounded like Yoongi had said was weather talk, nothing out of the ordinary. His curiosity had only increased at Yoongi's statement. He wanted to know more. Surely there was some other reason as to why he answered the way he answered.

"Yoongi, do you have something against love?" Taehyung asked quietly. Yoongi acknowledged the question, tapping on the mug on his hands. He pressed his lips together, gazing at Taehyung briefly, before shrugging.

"What's so great about love?" he asked back, not answering the question. "Look at where we work, Project Heartbreak. If that doesn't tell you how idiotic love is, you're the blindest motherfucker alive. People pay us to make their heartbreakers fall in love with us. They get hurt so much by love that they go as far as paying thousands, damn near millions, to have them wiped the face off the Earth."

Taehyung's brows furrowed.  "Yoongi—"

"It's true." Yoongi laughed humorlessly. "What good does such an emotion make? It can even cause Broken Heart Syndrome. You can die from that shit. Love can literally kill you. Why would I want to subject myself willingly into such deep emotions? I prefer breaking hearts, Taehyung. It's what I'm good at."

He paused slightly, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Humans are so predictable." Yoongi continued. "You just learn to read the signs, act the way you know they want you to act. Our victims fall in love with personas, mere illusions of what they want to see. They give up their control, for people like us, because they trust that we'll take care of them, that we'll always be there for them. Then boom. We get bored and drop them like they don't mean anything to us."

Yoongi stopped for a few moments to catch his breath. Taehyung only stared silently, waiting for Yoongi to continue.

"Those heartbreakers and us, we're just the same." Yoongi jeered. "Only difference is, we're getting the money, they're getting a trip to the underworld."

"Yoongi, who hurt you?" Taehyung frowned. "I've never seen someone as young as you have such an outlook towards love."

"You act as if you're decades older than me." Yoongi shook his head slightly. "You're only twenty-five."

"Yeah, and I don't have such a morbid outlook on love." Taehyung retorted. "It's like you have a personal vendetta against love. What gives?"

Yoongi shrugged. "A man's got to keep his secrets, right?"

Taehyung smiled. "You, Yoongi, are one hell of a kid. Jung Hoseok's got nothing on you. One can even call you heartless."

"No, not heartless." Yoongi shook his head. "I have a heart. I can feel emotions, just not the emotions you think I can feel."

"Then what would the correct term be?" Taehyung hummed lightly. Yoongi pondered on it for a few moments, before his lips quirked up callously, smile sharpened like knives.

"Call it loveless."

a/n: it's yoongi being a love anti for me ❤️
