It had been a month since that last failed mission, and he had now been reassigned. Jimmy Ross was now a desk agent, worse he was working with geeks in Lab 101, where they did research developing new tech gear to be used in field. He had been reduced from the top field agent to a mere science officer. Those bastards at head office had screwed him and screwed him hard. His debriefing had been brutal. They all believed that it was some how his fault that the contact had been killed.

"You should have known something was wrong when the signal did not come through." his supervisor had said. 

"To top it all of you did not complete the mission and because of you, we lost out on the biggest bust that this agency could have had."

 "I'm sorry Ross, but you leave me with no choice, you are facing an official hearing at HQ, and after that you will go on a week suspension and when you come back you will be reassigned."

The hearing at HQ had just been a joke, they all took in turn embarrassing him , and after 2 hours of being yelled at by desk jockies who could never make it in the field , he was fined a full month's salary.

"Ross, I need those cultured tubes asap"

"Yes sir," the order had snapped him out of his daydreaming. 

The worst thing about working in lab 101 was working for the douschebag Carlton, the guy was definition of Satan. Rumor had it that he had Butt kissed his way to the top and that he was also a spy sent from District 6, the country's most sophisticated intelligence branch. For the past three weeks, Ross had been stuck in lab 101 from 7:00 am to 23:00 pm and he rarely got weekends off and to top it all of, he could not see how his work was valuable he was meant to be in the field not stuck behind some computer.

The only positive thing that came from his re-assignment to lab 101 was the fact that he could spend more time with his wife , and not have to go on missions across the world without knowing whether he would see again. They had gotten married just before his first mission and it had been tough convincing her over the years to stay with him. She had been through a lot over the years and he could not begin to imagine a world without her.

The time was now 23:00 and it was finally time to go home. He quickly shut of all the computers and equipment and walked to Carlton's office to hand over cultured tubes. He knocked on the door, but it turned out that Carlton was on the phone so he decided to leave it outside his door and leave. He was just about to open his car when he heard a loud scream from outside. He quickly ran outside the building , but found nothing , that was strange he thought. he went back to his car and drove home. When he got home he found his wife sitting in the lounge sipping coffee.

"Good evening, how was your day at work?" she asked. Because of the nature of his work, Ross had never got to tell his wife what it was he actually did and whenever she asked him this question he always had to lie to her. "Boring, like always , what's for dinner ?" Actually, today for the first time since he started working at lab 101, his day had actually been interesting, they had finally gotten the new proto-type device they had been working on right and it was time to test it out. But of course, Ross did not say this. ' Today we are having Mac and Cheese, but before that, sit down I need to tell you something." "What is it, is everything okay?" he asked worriedly. Instead of telling him what was wrong his wife silently stood and went to her bedroom, and came back with a pregnancy test. Positive. 

"Are you sure ? " Ross asked his face slowly starting to show the earliest signs of a wild smile forming

"That's, the third test , I have used. I am definitely positive" Linda said already smiling at her husbands positive reaction to the news. 

Linda was not sure how he would take news. They had tried to get pregnant before, but after facing some complications the first two  times round, they had given up on the idea of ever having babies. 

Ross just stood from his chair and picked up his wife, planting a huge kiss on her lips. he continued kissing her whilst he led her to their bedroom. Ross had always been an animal in bed. That's one of the things that Linda liked about him, but tonight's love making was gentle and sweet. Something totally different and Linda could not help but not feel satisfied when Ross lay back  half hour later spent, slowly drifting of to sleep, unaware of the drastic turn his life was about to take the next day
