Epic Gaming Confrontation
Ok so if I want to make sense of these self inserts with Yoosung. I'm just gonna say I'm studying abroad in Korea because my University has a study abroad program. Plus I've been wanting to learn the language for quite a while now, I heard it's fun to learn. But in this one we're connected through a game, you know how some games have connection to other players across the globe. Shamelessly shipping myself with Yoosung
-------------------------------------------------------
Yoosung has made his reputation as the lonely gamer boy, predicted to never get a girlfriend leading a sad lonely life. To him sounds sad just saying it or even hearing it from his closest friends. He always wondered what it would be like, to not be lonely. To not just look at those couples on the street or in his classes looking so happy being so loved. He wanted to be a part of it, deep down he just wanted to be loved.
Even if he did try, he would just chicken out, curse his shy nature, and then just spend the entire rest of the day and night playing games. His friends would berate him to actually do something productive with his life. But he can argue that gaming is productive, he would shove his stats on LOLOL on his friends faces if he could. It was much easier for him to game and talk with others over the screen. It distracted him, but in a good way. It distracted him by taking him away from reality, even the bad things. All the reminders of the bad things.
Tonight was an extra gaming session since it was a weekend. He willed himself to game until he passed out, which has happened often. He would rather not talk about that. He picked up his controller as he focused in front of his screen. Eyes narrowed, posture straightened, his attention not distracted. He was playing in a tournament in a team with 6 people against 6 other people. He picked out his character, interesting to him the character was also his nationality. He waited until the game started, and then communicated through his microphone to talk to the other players. To him the tournament became wild as every character on the screen ran about attacking each other. He felt a rush of adrenaline as he maneuvered his character.
His eyes moved across, he attacked and defeated two people already. He grinned feeling proud of himself, tonight was going to be a good night if he won this. It went well, until his character suddenly died.
"WHAT?!" He screamed in disbelief.
"How did I die?!"
The name popped up on the screen as soon as he said that.
Azir (Yoosung ★) defeated by Ashe (MariPanda18)*
His jaw dropped in shock as he watched the screen fade and his character re spawn. His fingers couldn't even move as he had to come to the realization that he had been defeated. He shook his head to snap out of it. He wasn't about to let this one defeat get to him. Besides he has been defeated before.
It wasn't until it happened again and again, by the same person no less that he began to grow frustrated. He went into the slight gamer rage, but in the end the other team ended victorious. He sighed disappointed, and apologized in his mic to the other players on his team. At the end a chat opened between the two teams. No one entered it, except for one. The one who defeated him.
He decided to be nice and congratulate the person.
Hey, good game.
Nice and short, he knew getting mad wouldn't do him any good.
Thanks, although Yoosung huh? More like Yoosucked in this match.
Ok never mind, Yoosung felt kind of offended now. A tick mark appeared popped on his forehead as his mood made a complete 180. He typed at his computer furiously as his frustration boiled up.
What's that supposed to mean?! I was just trying to be nice, it's hurtful to insult someone like that.
He huffed as he sat back in his seat. He folded his arms, almost like a child. He waited, contemplating whether to quit the chat and enter another match, until he saw them typing again.
I went too far with that joke, but I couldn't help myself. Please forgive me? In compensation, let me offer advice?
His anger slowly went away as he read each word of the message. He felt curious as to what the advice was.
Sure, what?
When using Azir you need to take in the cons. He's a mage character, so don't be afraid to abuse the spells given to you. Also it would be wise not to charge at a person. Like me, I use Ashe and she's an archer so I keep my distance unless I need to charge. Or just book it because someone is tailing my ass.
He could feel his lips twitch slightly as he read the message. Yoosung thought this person was smart, and no one has bothered to rectify his mistakes in his games.
By the way, you're gaming was awesome dude. You took out like two people really quickly.
His mouth formed a wide smile. He liked receiving nice compliments, it made him feel warm. The warmth of people, he always loved that. Which is probably why he was always such a warm person, and why he believed his favorite role model had purpose in life.
Thanks! You're playing was good too! You took me out 5 times in a row! Although can I ask why?
Oh. That's because everyone was afraid of Azir on my team and were constantly screaming "SOMEONE TAKE HIM OUT!" So I stepped up.
Yoosung giggled to himself, he could imagine the other people screaming like a frenzy. To him it was pretty funny. He breathed out and leaned back on his chair as he relaxed his posture. The person he chatted with didn't seem half bad. He felt the urge to chat more, he found it enjoyable.
By any chance are you Korean?
His head perked up at the next message, and he became confused.
Yeah. Why? Aren't you?
Actually, I'm American.
Yoosung nearly fell out of his chair in surprise. Maybe that was exaggerated. But he still felt shock.
An American?! But you can communicate in Korean so well?!
Yeah. I took some classes in my University. It's a fun language and class.
Yoosung was dumbfounded, as far as he knew learning another language was torture. Even when he was younger he never found it fun. His mind stilled once again as he read the sentence.
Wait you're in University too?!
Yeah. I'm like a freshman or like first year.
I'm a sophomore!
Yoosung felt a spark of excitement once he processed the information. He found another college student, and one younger than him too. To one it wasn't something to get excited about, but to him he always felt ecstatic when another college student would talk to him. It was rare to connect with another college student.
Can I ask more questions?
Hmm...see if you can beat me in the next match. I'll answer if you win!
Before Yoosung could type again, the person logged off the chat. He felt a second of disappointment before determination set in. He had found motivation, and he was set to win.
-------------------------------------------
Yoosung cheered loudly, he had won the match after an hour. His fingers were throbbing by how hard and quick he was pressing buttons. The screen went into the chat room again, he didn't hesitate to start typing.
I did it! I won! Now you have to answer all of my questions!
Alright. Lay it on me.
What's your rank? How long have you been playing? Are you a girl or boy? What's your age?
Whoa that's a lot...
Yoosung's cheeks burned slightly as he read the comment. His hands covered his face in embarrassment and let out a small whine. He had lost his self control, he couldn't help himself but to ask.
My rank is pretty high I'm like number 15 or something. I have to check again. I've been playing for a while now, like 2 years. I'm 18 and I'm a girl.
Yoosung's heart went from hard thumping to a full momental stop. A girl? He had been talking to and playing against a girl? His body froze for a few minutes for his mind to process the information.
Are you still on?
He panicked as he heard his monitor inform him again. His shaky fingers typing at the keys quickly.
Yea I'm stul onn Iem sorrey
Whoa dude so many typos
Yoosung took a deep breath, he became mortified. His hands moved to his cheeks as he slapped himself, trying to get out of the awkward mood he was in. He hated becoming shy, he shouldn't be shy. He was composed and talking a few minutes prior.
I'm sorry. I do that a lot.
I do it too. No worries. Bet you freaked out cause you found out I was a girl.
Um, maybe a little.
I knew it!
But I don't mind that you're a girl! I mean it was fun to play with you.
Same. You're much more polite then other people I played against.
Well, I was told that kindness rewards a lot.
Yoosung started to feel his form relax and steady. This wasn't so bad. He was doing it, it wasn't for real but at least he was talking, or more like messaging.
Dude you have a video contact?
Video contact? Why do you ask?
So we can chat with each other face to face.
Already?! But we only met through a chat! And it wasn't that long ago either.
Well we have a bunch of hours to play the game right? Plus I can laugh at your face if you lose.
Hey that's mean! And I'm not going to lose!
Sure sure. So next match if I defeat you, and manage to take out the turret you're guarding. You reveal your contact info.
Deal! Like I said I won't lose!
Bring it.
With that she logged out of the chat and Yoosung was left grinning with the exciting thrill left in his body. He took the controller ready and anticipating a fun, epic night of gaming with a new friend he just met.
A/N: One shot not really romance yet but like platonic introduction to set the mood. I mean we'd totally be gaming bros just saying.
Also asterisk *Azir and Ashe are both real characters from LOL (League of Legends.) MariPanda18 was my old account before I lost it. I won't tell anyone my new account unless you want to see me suck at the game really bad like I suck.
