OVERVIEW:

Roses wilt, stars fall and people die... 

It is the way of the world and each of these things that succumb to their demise are forgotten if there is no one left to remember them. If a flower was never held and its fragrance never cherished, it would wilt without anyone to remember it. 

For Neal Hastings, he was himself that flower slowly wilting and knowing that his end was near. But he wanted to do something to leave an impact so that he would not be forgotten. He wanted to go out like an explosion in a plethora of faint candle flames so that his memory would not fade but always be remembered.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

This is my first OC-centric story in which there is more focus given to the original characters instead of the canon characters. Neal Hastings was an OC first featuring in my Barbara Gordon fanfic Sugarcoated Chillies and then also has an important role in its continuing fanfic Crushed Cigarettes. 

But Wilting Roses is his story where there is no one else to steal the spotlight from him and I have put more focus on him instead of the canon characters.

This fanfic will take you on the journey of why Neal was the way he was portrayed in the above-mentioned two fanfics and will tell his story from the beginning to the very end.

If you have read Sugarcoated Chillies, you know this story too is going to end up in a tragedy. But I am excited to start working on it because Neal is my most favorite OC so far and I just can't stop writing about him.
