DC Fanfic Recommendations
I know the major portion of this Profile Guide discusses fanfics I have written (both published and drafts), but I am taking this chapter to highlight some of the most awesome DC fanfics I have read and enjoyed.
These are my picks of the best DC fanfictions on Wattpad and I would definitely recommend you to check these out.
In no particular order as all of these are equally worthy of tremendous praise, here we go.
Number Neighbor by evphorics-:
If you read DC fanfics and haven't yet read this masterpiece, then you must be living under a rock. Also, I seriously recommend you to go read it.
Number Neighbor was the first DC fanfic I read, yes The First, and it got me interested into the fandom. So basically this fanfic is what introduced me to the fandom as well and got me stared on writing my own fanfictions based in DC universe.
Damian and Delilah's story has been referenced so many times in other fanfics I have read too and rightfully so because it left such an impact. The writing style is beautiful, a perfect balance of eloquence and poetry. I loved each and every chapter and this is definitely a must read fanfic.
Peppermint Kisses by timothyjacksondrake-:
Since we are mentioning the firsts, this was the first only dialogue fanfic I read on Wattpad. And the fact that author has managed to tell a whole story through it and that too in such a brilliant way is truly remarkable.
In fact, this fanfic was the first to get me to fall in love with Tim Drake and after reading Peppermint Kisses, my library became almost full of other Tim Drake fanfics because I could seriously not get enough of this adorable caffeinated genius.
Saudade, tim drake by svhltee:
The opening line itself was so perfect that it got me hooked and the whole story was a worthwhile read. I enjoyed Tim and Ciara's interactions a lot and no I am not going to spoil the ending. But all I can say is, the author pulled a Delilah on us despite promising us she wouldn't do anything of that sort...
But well, who doesn't love surprises?
I mean seriously I was shocked at the ending but it was so beautifully written that I am in awe of the sheer beauty of the last few chapters.
Friends with the Enemy by Another_chapter:
This was the first fanfic I rea featuring a young Dick Grayson, right after the death of his parents. I loved the story because it showed the side to him which we don't see often in fanfics as mostly authors prefer to write hi in his teenage or young adult/new adult years.
But this story captures him in his childish innocence, his inbred kindness and explores his story arc fully and beautifully. Definitely a must read fanfic.
In fact each and every DC fanfic the author has on the account is worth reading. I have read Two Sides Of The Same Coin, it was an AU fanfic based on Joker and Richard Grayson and was absolutely wonderful. Also I plan on reading The Talon Prince and Blood Stained Hands as well, all by the same author, and I am sure those will be just as awesome.
Justice League, meet the Bats by erisofnyx:
If you are fond of reading hilarious fanfics focusing on the chatoic family dynamic of the Waynes, then you must check this one out. It's short as compared to the other fanfics I have mentioned but definitely a must read. The author has captured the characters perfectly, their hilarious chaos are written very well and overall it's a great fanfic.
Text Me Back // Book One and Left On Read // Book Two by cookiethife:
I read book 2 first and then read book 1 but both were equally hilarious and kept me hooked till the last chapter. First book features BirdFlash, second features JayTim and the third book One Unread Message is like a combination of all the characters featured in the story.
It is a texting fanfic and definitely one of the best DC texting fanfics on Wattpad. You should totally check these out.
(Dc Jason Todd) Wrong Number by Eemstheegg:
Probably the first Jason Todd fanfic I have read and it was totally worth it. I love how the author has explored both Jason and the OC Milou's character thoroughly and worked upon their dynamic. Also, this fanfic is action packed and it got me to change my views on Jason.
Do you guys know that I used to hate Jason Todd when I had first started reading and writing DC fanfictions? Jason was usually portrayed as this reckless brash boy with an awful attitude and I hated that. But this fanfic made me change my views on him, then I watched Under The Red Hood and explored his comic storylines. And that's when my opinion changed on him.
Now can you believe it that I have written most fanfics on this DC character I used to hate. Jason has way more fanfics posted and completed on my account as compared to the rest of the Batboys. Well actually he has tied with Tim Drake for now and Tim might win if I post Clown Prince and Crown Prince as well but still currently I have published three fanfics focusing majorly on Jason Todd.
The Archer and Ghost by PricetagOfficial:
How could I not mention the story for which I wrote this chapter in the first place?
The Archer is the first book, a Tim Drake fanfiction focusing on our lovely Red Robin and Oliver Queen's adoptive daughter Aurora Sonnet, known as Rory by her family and friends. Ghost is the second book continuing the story and let me just tell you, if you haven't yet read these two fanfics, then you haven't yet seen perfection in a nutshell.
No, I am not kidding. Tim and Rory's story is everything you need from a good fanfiction. It has its fair share of ups and downs, cute moments, angst, poetry, romance and I could go on forever in praise of this story.
You seriously have to check these two out. But please read The Archer before reading Ghost or else you'll get very confused.
Cracks In The Wall by GuyOfMany:
This one is the first Marvel and Dc crossover, oh wait the first crossover irrespective of fandom, that I have read. I am not fond of reading crossover fanfics because usually authors are not able to handle the clashes in between the two fandoms and such stories do not interest me.
But Cracks In The Wall is truly an exception as it is so well written, every event is justified, there's a reason behind each occurrence, the plot is tied remarkably well together and I absolutely love the writing style.
Perfectly Ordinary by SummerStrength:
Once again, when I thought of writing a DC fanfic recommendation chapter, I had this fanfic in mind. Why have kept it in the end then? Because I like to end chapters with statements that leave their mark. Or here in this case, a story that leaves its mark.
Perfectly Ordinary is a Damian Wayne fanfiction but it focuses on so much more than just a love story. I love the plot, the characters, the multiple OCs and their unique personalities and the really beautiful writing style.
This is no doubt the one of the best Damian Wayne fanfictions on Wattpad and you should totally check it out.
Honorable Mentions:
Not many chapters of these fanfics are posted yet but so far I find these very promising so I am including them in here:
