Home World: Edolas

Exceeds are a cat-like race that is able to walk upright and even speak. The Exceeds used to reside on Edolas. Their race was weak compared to the humans that lived on Edolas, this led to the Exceeds being picked on by the humans. A certain Exceed had the ability to foresee future events. She was named Queen of the Exceeds. Using her power, she predicted when a human would die, and used this as a way to make the humans fear the Exceeds believing that the Exceeds had godly powers. In fact the only real power that all Exceeds have is the ability to use the spell Aera in Edolas. It allows them to sprout wings on their backs. The Exceeds were the only beings in Edolas that had magic within their bodies, while humans had to use items combined with lacrimas(A Magic Infused Crystalline Substance). Using the Queens special powers, the Exceeds took control of the humans.

Many years later, the humans wanted to be free of the Exceeds control, so the current king of the humans planned to destroy Exceeds by crashing a massive Lacrima into the Exceed's kingdom, Extalia. The Lacrima was actually many mages that came from the alternate dimension of Earthland. The spell Anima was responsible for this. After many events caused by the Dragon Slayer mages and other mages that were not affected by Anima, the plan to destroy the Exceeds was stopped. The new king of the humans used a reverse anima to send the mages home along with the Lacrima. This reverse Anima also sucked out all the magic out of Edolas. Since Exceeds had magic within their bodies, they were sucked into Earthland as well, where they live now.
