A long time ago, the first Bakugans emerged when a mysterious force called Code Eve created the first two Bakugans in the Infiniverse. This two Bakugans were called Drakaknoid, and Dragonoid, based on the genes of an unknown powerful warrior. This two Bakugas ripped their Universe into two different realities. One included the world Vestrolia, the other one contained two different worlds called Neathia, and Gundalia. Eventually more Bakugans emerged from the original. Many years later, from the sky into an Alternate Earth, because an event that created a rift between Universes. The cards contained Bakugans that had been in the form of small balls. They can come with one of six attributes, Pyrus, Haus, Subterra, Darkus, Ventus, and Aquos.

In the Alternate Earth, people designed a game that used Bakugans. Bakugans cannot access their true forms in the human forms, so they took the shape of the small balls. Somehow they are able to access their true forms while the game is played. The Bakugans fight each other, and the one that defeats the other Bakugan is declared the winner.

The reason the Bakugans appeared on Alternate Earth is because an evil Balkugan, that caused the event. He caused Bakugans to be sent to the Alternate Earth, but after his defeat, a new Vestroia was formed. This new Vestroia was conquered by Vestals. Two different kind of Bakugans were created them, Mechanical Bakugans created by Ventals, and Synthetic Bakugans created by humans. Later, the Ventals where defeated and the Bakugans reclaimed Vestroia.

Currently, it is unknown how real Bakugans are created, but some Bakugans have the ability to evolve, but Synthetic and Mechanical Bakugans don't evolve.
