--headmistress--
EDITH HALLWELL
54 years old
Headmistress of the Hallwell School of the Gifted
Edith, or Miss. Hallwell, inherited the school from her family through generations. She is extremely sentimental of the school, having spent all of her childhood inside the stone walls. With this, over the years, she has developed an incredibly strict nature. Hallwell has incredibly high expectations for her students and will not hesitate to give out detentions and even expulsions from time to time. She spends most of her time in her office but on occasion, she does runs around the school to make sure everything is in order.

EVAN CALDARO
17 years old and in 12th grade
Male, Heterosexual
FC: Herman Tømmeraas

Put bluntly, Evan could get on someone's nerves the minute he opens his mouth. To anybody who isn't his friend, Evan has no filter. He finds his rude comments almost a comfort to ease his feeling of inferiority in such an intelligent environment. Of course, Evan is incredibly smart, well above average, but he finds himself having trouble competing with some of the others in the school. Though his parents never explicitly told him so, he knew one of the main reasons he had gotten into the school was because of his parents' money. That thought eats away at him and he finds himself lashing out on anyone who's willing--or unwilling--to listen.

To his friends, however, Evan finds his negative traits less pronounced. Beneath the arrogant and conceded exterior, Evan enjoys having a good time. He loves a good laugh every now and then, some coming from putting down others, but the more genuine laughs come from just the innocent jokes he makes with his friends. Evan is also fairly loyal. Being a target for hatred--through no fault of his own of course--he values the friends he has. He would willingly punch anyone in the face if they were hurting him or his friends, and he definitely has.

Evan comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and business gurus. The Caldaro family oil industry goes back for decades, similar to Hallwell's family situation, and with each new generation comes another surplus of wealth. For Evan, that meant living an extremely comfortable life, fit with a private family island out in the Caribbean. Attending Hallwell was a must in his family. Both his parents had attended and met there, as well as a majority of the family on his father's side. Though Evan feels pressured to do well in school, he finds comfort in his family's money. He knows no matter what, they'll always be able to provide for him.

KADEN HARTLEY
17 years old and in 11th grade
Male, Bisexual
FC: Louis Hofmann

Kaden is incredibly driven. He will put in every ounce of effort to be the best in everything he does, especially when it comes to math. He always believes his extreme aspirations are always within reach as long as he puts in the hard work to get there. He can come across as stubborn and irritable, especially when he feels he's wasting his time. There are minimal occasions where Kaden's not working on something, either on paper or in his head. He could mull over a problem for hours on end, trying to find all the possible ways to answer a question and all the possible solutions. Aside from academics, Kaden is sensitive and kind-hearted. Though he may seem closed-off at first, he still cares deeply about the things he loves, including his family and friends. He tries to not let his ambitions get in the way of his relationships with others, though there are numerous occasions where it has. Kaden is a quick-thinker and seems to always have a plan. If anything were to happen, he would be the level-headed one amongst the chaos, guiding everyone to where they should go and creating a plan of action.

Growing up, Kaden always felt extremely lucky. He has two loving, supportive parents and a twin sister, Kendall, who he honestly believes he couldn't live without. Though she annoys him more often than not, Kaden is always happy to have her around. His parents, an ophthalmologist and a real estate agent, often got into fights but somehow always seemed to work it out in the end. Kaden didn't start to suspect anything until they had come back from school this past summer. The tensions seemed to have been heightened, despite their outward positivity towards the twins being back at home. Just before the twins' eleventh year of high school, the parents spilled the news of divorce. The topic had apparently been looming over their heads during Kaden and Kendall's tenth grade year at Hallwell and the parents could not bear another year alone together. Kaden isn't exactly sure how to process the divorce, but he's determined not to let it get in the way of his studies.

Kaden loves math and has since he first learned one + one. He also loves success. A finished problem, to him, is comparable to finding civilization after thirty weeks in the Amazon. Kaden also loves patterns and logic. He believes logic can solve any problem in the world. In contrast, Kaden hates getting stuck or anything that distracts him from moving towards his goals. He has a number of careers and projects he wants to take on in the future. He can't pick one. However, Kaden is afraid of failure. Not only does he not want to disappoint his parents and his teachers, but he's set such high goals for himself that any type of failure means a disappointment to himself.
