"why are we here?" izuku asked tilting his head. "i need to buy something's" shoto smiled. izuku nodded, he was about to get off when shoto told him it was fine. izuku waited a good 20 minutes in the car for shoto to come back.

when he finally came back he had a bouquet of roses on his hands. izuku noticed when he put them on the back and took one out. shoto closed the back door and made his way towards the drivers seat. he turned to izuku with a smile. "this one is for you." he handed him the rose.

izuku blushed and took it. "idiot, why are you giving me this?" izuku asked turning to the other side. "i asked for 12 and they gave me 13, cant have an uneven number, now can i?" shoto joked. "i guess not." izuku giggled.

shoto smiled and started driving again. he didn't speak and just drove. izuku tried speaking to him but it seemed like shoto was lost in thought.

"you've been quiet, can i please know where we're going?" izuku asked, leaning his head against the window. "i rather not ruin the surprise." shoto looked at izuku for a brief moment. "you're only telling me where we're going now and what we're doing, how will that ruin the surprise?" izuku whined.

"you'll probably figure it out love." shoto sighed. "fine." izuku scoffed. "don't be such a cry baby. save that for later tonight." shoto teased. izuku pouted and didn't answer.

"new feelings?" shoto spoke out. "pardon?" izuku questioned. "to be quite honest, they can be extremely scary, diving into the unknown and somehow i still find it exciting." shoto smiled. "it is scary, i think it's scary to think about new things, changing the way you are just to find something. you never know whether it would be worth it at the end." shoto spoke, "tell me something love, do you believe in magic?"

"perhaps i do, why?" izuku wondered.

"nothing, something that sparked my interest, don't worry dear." shoto smiled before the car came to a stop. "we're here."

izuku looked around, there was no one, not a single person insight the only thing izuku noticed was how rundown the village looked. the houses, streets, everything looked like it was slowly falling apart.

izuku turned to look at shoto. shoto looked sad, he didn't try to hide it.

"are you alright?" izuku asked, whispering. "why wouldn't i be dear?" shoto slowly spoke as he got off the car, bringing the flowers with him.

once out shoto grabbed izuku's hand, not saying anything. shoto led the way, passing through some houses. izuku took a good look around, noticing how bad the place looked.

shoto finally stopped walking and turned to izuku. "you once asked me where my mother was, i don't know if you remember but we're here." shoto felt a tear roll down his face. he let go of izuku's hand and leaned down, placing the flowers on her grave.

izuku looked at where shoto was kneeling down, he realized they were standing in front of a tomb. izuku saw the name written across it, reí todoroki. izuku's eyes widened, he wiped his eyes, hoping he had read that wrong.

"i present you my mother." shoto took a deep breath,

"im sorry." izuku mumbled and got down to hug shoto. shoto started crying.

"why should you be sorry when it's my fault she's there?" shoto cried. "if only i protected her she could still be here with me." shoto cried.

"but you tried and that's all that matters." izuku hugged him tighter. shoto cried until he finally calmed down. "i'm sorry for being like this. i didn't want you to know but i guess i'm risking it all for something. it's her anniversary and i didn't want to come alone, it hurts, i'm sorry."

"don't apologize. you should never apologize for being you, you're not perfect, you're human, you're allowed to cry and feel emotions, that's what makes you, you. don't ever apologize." izuku kissed shoto's forehead.

"why shouldn't i? i'm showing you a pathetic side, one i wish to burn down, to bury it deep down so no one ever sees it. i'm just not strong enough to do it." shoto frowned. he didn't want anyone to see him like this, to see this side of him. not when all this time he's been acting like he didn't care about anything, and maybe that was true to some extent but he felt like he had to.

"it's not that you're not strong enough. if you learn to embrace it then there's no point in hiding it, in the end it'll just hurt you more." izuku said.

"i understand that but i know i'm not strong enough to do that. you know what it feels to be abandoned, to feel like you're not good enough for someone?" shoto felt a tear roll down his cheek.

"i do. it hurts, it's a feeling that kills you inside. it leaves you wondering, why wasn't i good enough? what did i do? do i deserve this? truth is, you're enough, more than enough. maybe at the time you don't realize it but as you move on you realize; you've always been more than enough. so don't cry, it's okay." izuku wiped the tears off shoto's eyes.

"i know this is hard for you, but thank you. thank you for showing me this side of you, shoto, you didn't have to but you still did." izuku hugged him tighter.

"i want to show you why i became the man i am today." shoto breathed. "i know i'm not perfect, i know i can be petty, a pain in the arse but i'm human too you know."

"shoto, i'm here whenever you want to talk."

"i know love, but we should go. i don't want to be here any longer, not today. not right now," shoto frowned and stood up. he started walking back, izuku took one more look

"lets go then."

shoto and izuku went back home. shoto didn't bring it up anymore, he didn't speak on the way and izuku didn't bother to press the subject. izuku didn't want to go home so he stayed with shoto.

except, shoto didn't stay with him. he dropped izuku off at his room and told him he was coming back in bit, that he had to drop some papers off at some office.

izuku stayed however shoto didn't come back home fast like he promised. izuku waited an hour for him to come and he didn't, so he ended up falling asleep.

izuku woke up around 7 when shoto entered the room.

"you're back?" izuku questioned rubbing his eyes. "yes, darling i am." he spoke, softly. "i'm sorry, did i wake you?" shoto softly asked. izuku noticed the way shoto seemed to glow and how his soft expression had change to the one he had when he first met him. he ignored that.

"'m no. i got up on my own." izuku slurred. "just go back to bed darling, i'll lay next to you in a minute." shoto smiled. izuku didn't say anything and went back to bed.

shoto woke up, sweat dripping from his body. he panted, and closed his eyes tightly.

he had another nightmare, the same one he wasn't able to get over. he didn't move, afraid of waking izuku up. he cried, softly.

he closed his eyes tighter, afraid of opening them.

izuku got up, hearing muffled cries. he sat up fast and saw shoto crying. his eyes widened at the sight, shoto looked terrified and was shaking. izuku didn't say anything but hugged him.

"hey, it's okay. i'm here." izuku tried comforting him. "everything will be okay, don't worry. i'll be with you, don't worry about anything. i promise to protect you." izuku grabbed shoto's hand and squeezed it, reassuring shoto

"shoto, you're okay, you'll be okay. i promise." izuku kissed shoto's forehead. "i just don't understand why they both left me." he cried.

"sometimes, the people who we think will always be with us leave. it's just something that happens in life, don't blame yourself for that. it's never your fault. if they walk out then that's on them. you're not to feel responsible. so don't cry, you'll be alright." izuku spoke.

"i'm sorry..." shoto apologized. "why are you apologizing for? you've done nothing vile, don't be sorry. it's not good to apologize unless you actually need to. don't apologize for every little thing. you know better than to. no everyone deserves it. and don't ever explain why you do what you do to anyone else. if you're happy then that's all that matters."

after a while both izuku and shoto fell asleep, in each other's embrace.
