Have you even tried to do hammer on and your finger missed the string? And it goes into your nail and it hurts?

When you do a pull off, you don't just simply take your finger off the string, you have to flick it kind of. And when you pull off the first string, it's easy. But when you have to do any other string, it's more difficult at first. Because as you flick your finger off, you accidentally hit the string below it.

So yeah, both of these can be problems.
