A family that fights together, stays together
A story that was initially meant as a crack fic but somehow became kinda angsty.
Not very long. Could remain as a oneshot, could be expanded.
Who knows? Not me B)
Some characters are admittedly OOC for the sake of plot (mostly Dadzawa, some Izuku).
NOTE: Izuku calls Aizawa 'Mom' instead for dad for 3 reasons:1.) It was originally a crack fic2.) There was a prompt that had him called *mom*3.) He never had a father figure, only a mother figure. You'd think that it'd make him call Aizawa 'dad,' but why would he if he's only known love from a mother?

Izuku pursed his lips, nose scrunching in confusion as his teacher spoke. Slowly, he raised his hand and absentmindedly called out the first thing that appeared in his mind. "Mom?"
The class went completely silent, and the boy, now face twisting into one of horror, was sure that he'd be able to hear a pin drop.
Shouta, while staring at the boy and watching as the students around him gawked and nervously laughed, made a split-second decision that he'd never even consider if he'd gotten in his daily nap. Then, with a look of pure stoicism, the man turned towards Izuku, unfaltering. "Yeah, problem child?"
Izuku immediately became red, whereas the rest of the class erupted into chaos.
"wHaT?!" Kaminari blurted out, eyes darting between the two.
Bakugou turned around, narrowing his eyes at the freckled boy. "The fuck?"
Iida seemed to be malfunctioning. "I... What? Isn't... Huh?"
"Aizawa-Sensei iS YOUR MOM?!" Mina shouted out confusedly.
Todoroki's brows knitted together, and he began to frustratedly scratch something out before jotting something else down below it.
"Calm down," Shouta sighed, finally deciding it was enough. And, initially, he was planning on coming clean. He really was.
But as soon as he saw the amused look hiding behind Izuku's horrified gaze, the man simply cleared his throat. "Anyways, as I was saying..."
Mina slammed her fist on the table. "Now hold on! You can't just go and say something like that without explaining!"
"Yeah," Jirou agreed, "That's just cruel."
Shouta simply deadpanned his students. "I can and I will."
The man expected the aggravation of his class - it was inevitable and only logical that they respond in that way to such an odd statement.
What he didn't expect, though, was the events that transpired afterwards.
But he can't say he regretted them.
---
"Midoriya, man!" Kirishima called out as soon as class ended, running up to the boy's desk. "What was that?! Are you really related to Aizawa-Sensei?"
"And why did you call him mom?" Iida asked confusedly.
Uraraka's expression became frantic, and she looked panicked as she turned towards their teacher. "Is Aizawa-Sensei a woman?!"
"Uh...," Izuku fidgeted nervously. "Well..." He glanced towards the man, who simply tossed him a look that told him to fend for himself. Before he could speak, however, Bakugou leaned back in his chair.
"Yeah. Aizawa-Sensei's his mom. Basically adopted him into his family a few years back," he said, looking lazily at the group. And, although Izuku couldn't prove it, he knew that the blonde was snickering at his horrified expression within his mind.
Mina bounced on her toes excitedly, rocking his desk back and forth. "Really?! How does that work? He doesn't really seem like the type..."
"Uhm... He's... Uhm...," the boy sputtered, short-circuiting.
"Tch," Bakugou rolled his eyes. "Haven't you noticed how he's always freaking out over everyone? The dumbfuck couldn't be worse at hiding it."
"K-Kacchan!" Izuku left out, turning pale as he looked between the blonde and his teacher. He could've sworn he saw amusement in the man's face, but he quickly passed it off, figuring it was impossible.
While Izuku had his internal panic, Kaminari's eyes widened. "Now that you mention it..."
"Izuku," a sharp voice cut across the room, startling everyone still lingering. "I'd like to see you in the hallway."
"Ah," Izuku muttered, blushing at the man's use of his given name, "Gotta go, I guess."
"Of course," Iida nodded adamantly, "If he really is your mother - or you at least see him as one - you shouldn't keep him waiting!"
Todoroki almost looked upset. "I had always thought it was All Might..."
A mixture of embarrassment and worry crossed Izuku's features, and he really began to regret not denying the lie. "Y-yeah," he mumbled, trying to hide his red face as he stepped outside.
"Y-you wanted me, Aizawa-Sensei?" Izuku asked nervously, staring at the floor.
The man replied in a monotone voice. "Is that something you should be calling your mother?"
Izuku froze, staring up at the man with a beyond embarrassed expression, watching as the man simply stared at him.
After a moment, however, Shouta sighed, putting his hand on the back of his neck. "Yeah, I know, kid. I'm regretting this too. No doubt this is going to get out of hand."
"Then why...," Izuku trailed off confusedly.
"Because," the man shrugged, "I thought it'd be interesting. It's been getting too boring around here." He offered a slight smirk, nearly causing the boy to recoil in surprise.
"I... I guess...," the boy mumbled, hating how he could feel the heat in his cheeks.
"Alright, problem child," Shouta said, "It was really just an offhand thing. You can go in there and tell them Mic made me do it because of a bet or something. I wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable or anything."
Izuku paused for a moment, staring at the man as if he were studying him. Slowly, though, his lips twitched into a soft smile. "Thanks, Sensei. But y'know," he grinned bemusedly, "I don't think it's all bad."
Shouta looked mildly surprised, but he was quick to roll his eyes as the ghost of a smirk rested on his lips. "Whatever, problem child. When this goes wrong, don't blame me."
"'Course not, mom," Izuku replied, almost immediately regretting what he said when the man nearly choked. "Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't mean- Ah... I..."
Taking in a deep breath, Shouta recollected himself, shaking his head. "Whatever. Stop freaking out, kid. It's fine. Actually, this might turn out to be more entertaining than expected. Anyways," he said, looking at the boy with a carefully blank expression, "If you're my son now, I expect you to eat lunch in the staff room with me. As your mother, having lunch only seems like the right thing to do."
That time, it was Izuku's turn to nearly die, but he could only watch as Shouta simply shrugged, walking down the hall and resigning Izuku to his fate.
Somehow, though, it didn't seem so bad.
---
"Deku?" Uraraka called out, tilting her head to the side. "Where are you going?"
"Oh," Izuku said, attempting to keep his expression neutral but no doubt failing horribly, "Mom asked to have lunch with me."
Iida didn't mention the boy's incredible resemblance to a tomato, instead smiling brightly and nodding. "Of course! It's only right that a parent and their child spend quality time together! Though," he mentioned, "I do wonder why you kept this a secret."
Izuku froze, glancing around before letting out the first thing that popped into his head. "Mom's uh... A pro hero, y'know? So he didn't want me... getting targeted or something...," he explained, though he seemed more confused about his own story as he went along. "Also uh..." No wait stop rambli- "Favoritism and all that. Er... He..." Why did you do this to yourself? "Mom and I didn't want anyone to think that I only got into U.A. because he's a teacher here."
Uraraka's eyes widened. "Oh!" Afterwards, she smiled, nodding. "That makes sense. And it's super sweet that Aizawa-Sensei cares like that! Honestly, I wouldn't have pegged him as the motherly type," she admitted, "But I bet he's great!"
"Yes - it's very admirable that you didn't want the extra help in the first place," Iida agreed. "And that Aizawa-Sensei was trying his best to protect you. Well, don't worry," he said, offering a smile, "I'll make sure not to say anything about it to anyone outside of our class."
Izuku laughed nervously. "Ah... Thanks. Well uh..." He paused, briefly wondering if he could simply stay in the lunchroom. He quickly dismissed the thought, though, not wanting Iida to scold him or Aizawa to be upset with him in any way. "I'll be going," he finally let out, offering an awkward smile.
"Have fun," Todoroki spoke up, slurping on his soba.
Izuku nodded quickly, waving back to Iida and Uraraka as well. "T-thanks... uh... Bye!" he blurted out before spinning around and ducking down while he half-jogged to the lunchroom doors.
He really hoped he wouldn't regret this.

"Shou, you're still awake?" Nemuri asked confusedly, leaning on her desk.
"What's that supposed to mean?" he muttered.
"You're always taking your nap by now." Ectoplasm deadpanned.
The black-haired man didn't even bother arguing, as he knew they were entirely right. He still grumbled, though.
"So are you gonna answer?" Vlad asked.
Shouta simply shrugged, shuffling papers on his desk. "My son's coming for lunch."
Nemuri spat out her drink. "Your WHAT?!"
"Y-you have a son?!" Toshinori sputtered out, eyes wide.
Shouta sipped on his coffee casually. "Yeah. Didn't I tell you?"
"He's..." Power Loader turned towards Hizashi - his husband - with a pale face. "He's just kidding, right?"
Hizashi blinked, clearly shaken himself, and turned towards Shouta. The black-haired man continued drinking his coffee, eyes flickering with a hint of mischief. And, with that, Hizashi turned towards the rest of the teachers, relaxing his shoulders and grinning. "Yeah, we didn't mention it because we didn't want anyone to think he had an unfair advantage."
Snipe shook his head, sighing but obviously a bit off-kilter. "No way. I'm gonna have to see it to believe it."
Vlad King agreed, though he looked tense. "There's no way you're telling the truth. You and Yamada are just messing with us."
Hizashi chuckled. "Since when has Shou ever told jokes?"
The teachers froze, exchanging glances with each other and coming to the slow, horrifying realization that the man had a point.
"Fuck," Power Loader muttered.
"H-hey," a small voice said, door creaking open.
The room sucked in a collective breath, turning towards the source of the sound. The first reaction came from Toshinori, who literally spat out blood when he saw who stood in the doorway.
"Y-young Midoriya?!" he blurted.
"Oh...," the boy laughed nervously, looking everywhere but towards him. "Hey..."
Shouta raised a brow at the familiarity between the two, but quickly disregarded it and motioned towards the boy. "My son, Izuku."
"Kid," Nemuri whispered quietly, stepping near the boy, "If he threatened to expel you, I'll tell Nezu what happened. You don't have to go with his evil plan."
Izuku froze, gaze slowly moving towards Shouta. After a moment of silence, though, he gulped and straightened himself. "No, it's alright." He walked to the man, placed his tray on his desk, and pulled him into a hug that caused both to stiffen. "Mom didn't threaten me at all."
"mOM?!" Nemuri yelped.
"What the actual hell...," Vlad King whispered, horrified.
Cementoss chuckled, though he seemed as if he might pass out at any moment. "I don't believe it..."
"How...," Toshinori said slowly, looking between the two with growing confusion. "He has a mom."
Shouta didn't miss the way the boy's eyes flickered with sadness, and the ghost of a frown rested on his lips. While he remained in an awkward pause, Hizashi spoke up for him.
"Oh yeah, Shou and I are just like honorary family members. We're not actually related or anything," he replied, waving the comment off.
Izuku's eyes widened (though his surprise was hidden from view, as he was still turned towards the two men) and his eyes darted between the two men. 'You... and him...?' he mouthed, looking entirely shocked when Hizashi nodded with a bright grin before bending down to ruffle his hair.
"Anyways, this little listener is a good kid. Didn't want him to get harmed, y'know? And like Shou said, favoritism would give him a pretty bad rap." He paused for a moment and laughed under his breath, fabricating more of a story as he stood. "Actually, the kid begged us not to pull any punches when it came to the exams and schooling."
Toshinori's brows knitted together in confusion. "Then why did Eraser nearly expel him?"
"As he said, no pulled punches," Shouta replied bluntly and without an ounce of emotion in his voice. "Besides, I did say he had potential."
Izuku nearly choked at what the man said, and Hizashi and his husband exchanged concerned glances before returning their eyes to the boy.
"Anyways," Hizashi said, putting his grin back on, "Little Zu, Shou and I will be going off for lunch now. Let Nezu know if ya could."
Hizashi winked at the boy, who in turn blushed at the combination of the man's casualness and the nickname he received. After a moment, though, the boy was able to force himself to nod, tossing an awkward smile to a dumbfounded Toshinori as he followed his 'parents' to a spare room (of course grabbing his lunch on the way).
"So," Hizashi said as he closed the door behind him, "What exactly happened?"
Shouta sighed. "I didn't have my nap this morning."
The man raised a brow. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Izuku fidgeted, muttering out a small explanation. "Er... Well... I accidentally called Aizawa-Sensei mom in class... And he just... Went with it?"
Hizashi blinked surprisedly, only to burst into laughter a moment later. "Oh god, Shou. And here I was thinking that you hated jokes."
Shouta punched the man playfully, rolling his eyes with the smallest of smiles on his face. "Shut it."
Izuku looked curiously between the two, having studied their dynamic carefully since about 5 minutes ago when he learned about their relationship. Finally, after the two men exchanged a few jabs, he spoke up. "Uhm... Are you and Aizawa-Sensei married?" he asked confusedly.
"Hmm?" Hizashi said, only processing what he said after a few seconds. "Oh! Yeah, little listener," he chuckled. "Only the staff know, though. I mean, we're not exactly trying to keep it a secret, but we try to be professional."
"It'd be illogical to proclaim it for no reason," Shouta replied, slurping on one of his fruit pouches (where it came from, Izuku had no idea, but he was honestly too afraid to ask).
"Err...," the boy muttered, blushing. "How'd you uh... Meet?"
Hizashi's lips curled into a wide grin, and he shot Shouta a look, only for the man to sigh. "Don't you dare," his homeroom teacher groaned, but the blonde had no mercy.
"Weeeell," he said, stressing out the words and trying to dodge his husband's attempts to shut him up, "Shou and I met in U.A., actually. You probably already know that I gave him his hero name." Izuku nodded slowly, having vaguely remembered it from when his class chose their own. "Anyways," he continued, settling down once the other man had sighed in resignation of his fate, "I'm clearly too charming and he couldn't resist my absolute beauty, y'know?"
Shouta's eye twitched, while Hizashi winked at the man. "Don't make shit up," he responded, and Izuku almost did a double take, wondering if he just imagined the light blush on his face.
"Pshht, whatever," Hizashi said, waving him off. "You totally did. But yeah, over the years we just got closer. There's some... Personal family situations that I shouldn't talk about, obviously." Izuku didn't miss the way his homeroom teacher stiffened, and he most certainly wasn't about to press the issue. "Ah... Unfortunately, after U.A., we both caught up with hero work and didn't have time to see each other," he muttered, looking sadder than Izuku had ever seen the man. "But!" he brightened slightly, though the strain in his smile was unmissable, "We eventually reconnected when we became teachers. Then we dated for a few years and I proposed."
Izuku looked a bit surprised. "It wasn't Aizawa-Sensei?"
Hizashi snorted. "No way. As much as he puts on his little tough act, Shou's a big sof-"
Shouta slapped his hand over his mouth, causing the man to speak with a muffled voice. After a few moments, though, he pulled his hand away quickly, glaring at his husband with a disgusted look on his face. "Did you just lick me?!"
Hizashi simply shrugged, grinning. "Hey, you were the one who tried to shut me up!"
Izuku watched as the two continued bickering, fist clenching. Although they seemed as if they were fighting, the two were doing so playfully and with clear smiles on their faces (even if Shouta's was more reserved) rather than with malice.
"Hey, hey," Hizashi said, panicked as he saw Izuku. "Are you alright, little listener?"
The boy looked up, his nose scrunched in confusion. "H-huh?"
"You're crying, problem child," Shouta said, more concern in his eyes than the boy had seen before.
Izuku froze, lightly touching his cheeks before sniffling. "O-oh...," he whispered, "I guess I am..."
"What happened?" Hizashi asked softly, "Is something wrong?"
"I...," the boy paused, a lump rising in his throat. "I'm... I'm fine." Both men looked unconvinced as he choked on his words, still struggling to wipe the tears away.
"Problem child," Shouta spoke sternly, though with a tone of concern lying underneath, "You can talk to us."
Izuku hesitated for a moment before sinking into his chair. "I... I never... I never really had a father figure," he said, voice cracking and causing both men's hearts to squeeze. "He left only four years after I was born and... He didn't really act like one..."
"Little listener...," Hizashi mumbled, leaning closer to the boy.
"It's... I'm fine," he let out, squeezing his eyes shut. "It wasn't good for mom. He... He wasn't good to her... Or uhm..." He trailed off, and neither man liked what he was implying. "I'm glad he left. I just..." He smiled at the two men despite the tears welling in his eyes. "I never had anything like this. My mom's great and all, but It still hurts. It'd be nice to... To be able to see both of my parents love each other like you do. Love... Me." The boy smiled sadly, looking down. "I know it's stupid... You're just teachers... I barely even know you but... In a way...," he admitted with a soft voice. "I don't know... You're acting like the complete family I never had."
Much to Izuku's surprise, without even a moment's hesitation, Shouta leaned forwards and clasped the boy's hands in his. The freckled boy looked up, only to see his teacher staring into his eyes. And, although it might make most feel nervous, the softness settling within his gaze brought about an unexpected tranquility. "Problem child," the man spoke tenderly, "Everyone at U.A. might not be blood related, but when you step into my class, everyone in that goddamn room becomes family."
Izuku startled, heart stuttering. "H-huh?"
"Little listener," Hizashi said with a kind smile, "Shou's right. After all," he chuckled, "A family that fights together stays together." The freckled boy felt his heart clench, hand flying up to cover his mouth as soon as Shouta let go.
The blonde smiled, careful to keep his voice lower than usual. "I know he's not the greatest with words, but Shou cares - he really does. And so does everyone else at U.A., including me. I'm sure your friends care just as much. And if you ever need anything, anything at all, just let someone know, alright?"
Tears rolled down Izuku's cheeks, and he found himself doubled over as he choked on his sobs. "I-I," he whispered, breath hitching. "I-"
"Hey, hey," Hizashi said softly, leaning forwards, "What's wrong, little listener? Why are you crying?"
"It's just...," Izuku began with shaky breaths. He slowly straightened himself, though his body was trembling as his gaze leveled with his teachers'. "I'm..." He took in a deep breath, a wide, shaky smile spreading across his cheeks. "They're happy tears. I promise."
Shouta turned towards Hizashi before leaning forwards slowly and awkwardly (though with nothing but good intent), only to wrap the boy in a hug. Izuku's body racked with sobs underneath him, but the brightest, toothiest smile he'd ever seen remained unwavering on the boy's face. "It's alright, problem child," he muttered, stroking the boy's hair.
Hizashi leaned down next to the boy, having moved around the table moments earlier, and joined Shouta. "Yeah, little listener. After all," he said with a soft yet goofy grin, "You've got your honorary family right here, don'tcha?"
Izuku heaved with continued cries, and wails echoed throughout the room. "Thank you," he sobbed, "Thank you..."
And, although anyone who heard might describe the cries as gut wrenching... For anyone who saw the scene, each would say the same thing.
The group dozing off in the room off to the side, holding each other tightly as if daring anyone to pull them apart...
Was a family.
---
yeah, trashy end, ik
might rewrite it
might write more
but just in case i don't write more, here's what i wanted to happen later:
in my mind, shouta and hizashi end up as actual honorary family members after this, and so does the U.A. staff
shouta finds out about izuku's past (with information from inko) and makes sure the kid has a happy life from then on (and, of course, gets nezu some information about aldera... maybe recommends bakugou for anger management... heheheh)
basically, shouta and hizashi are his adopted uncles, because no one can resist both midoriyas, let alone one
(but if Izuku ever 'slipped up' and called Shouta 'Mom,' no one would exactly mind...)
anyways xD
Thanks for reading! <3
