The next day was the eve of Halloween and the Hollands had offered to make Fria and Joey some costumes for school but both knew better than to come in dressed up without notice prior so they denied the offer and headed up to their rooms. Each styled an outfit and neatly laid it out on their dressers for the next day, careful not to crease the recently ironed pieces of clothing.

That night the siblings went without sleep Because Fria kept insisting that Joey tell her everything he had read.

"Do they know we have powers?" She had asked him after a while of complete dead silence.

"No, but they know of the existence of powers and the lab"

"You told me no one else knew!"

"I figured" he mocked. "I didn't say for sure. Do you even listen?". His sister turned over in her bed as did Joey more angrily than anything. Their fights didn't usually last more than an elongated sleep so the next day they forgot all about the argument and the fiasco that had happened at the dinner table.

When they were woken, Joey got up first, took his clothes dressed quickly and then let Fria use the bathroom beside their bedroom. When they were dressed in full outfits, Marsha rushed them outside with school bags and packed lunches ready, so they wouldn't miss the bus.

It didn't show up outside their house so, they had to walk, yet again, to the bus stop, this time it being a shorter distance since they hadn't come from the convenient store like they had the day before. They reached the bus stop and Fria leaned on the sign's pole as the yellow coloured vehicle pulled up beside them.

Both hopped on, their bags slung over their shoulders and their back bent over like hunchbacks. They took seats near the front this time, though Joe didn't take out his encyclopedia.

It took about seven minutes for the bus to arrive outside Hawkins middle school. The bus pulled up outside the red brick type building which had an array of students in different coloured outfits filling in and out of its doors.

They gathered their bags off the ground and followed the rest of the students out the opening doors. When they exited the bus onto the sunlit ground their eyes presented them with a genuinely laughable sight. Four boys from their science class were dressed up in ghostbusters costumes matched with accessories. They had looks of horror on their faces at the knowledge that nobody else was dressed and many found it hard to suppress a laugh. Fria and Joey didn't laugh but the other kids around.

As the twins edged nearer Fria, as well as Joey, noticed that they were the group of boys who had been creeping around Max at lunch and at the arcade. She gave then a narrowed eye look, though they didn't see.

Yesterday the two were supposed to just go to each of their classes, meet new people, see how they liked it and all before any real classwork, which Joey didn't appreciate. Today they were being given lockers and were actually supposed to have assigned work, which Fria despised.

She and Joey had gotten lockers right next to each other which were situated right next to Max's one.

One of the teachers had given them a proper tour since, the day before, they hadn't met at reception. He asked them whether they were interested in any extra circular activities as a way to drag out the boring conversation about school.

Fria didn't know of any that she had any particular interest in but Joe started to list some of the clubs he was hoping to join. The list was so long his sister lent against a wall and started to drop of. He finally finished leaving the teacher sort of stony-faced, ending his list with Av and chess.

"we'll see about all them, I wouldn't be surprised if every one took you in. You're a very bright pupil" the teacher 
said monotonously

Joey smiled and thanked him as Fria rolled her eyes. She was used to her brother getting lots of compliments. The teacher said his goodbyes and for the first time that entire day, let them get on by themselves. They had no class that period and it was nearing the end of the day.

"I'm gonna see about AV club" Joey announced pointing down the hallway and walking in that direction.

"okay see you later!" his sister responded. "I guess" she muttered when he didn't respond.

Fria decided to take a trip to her locker and organise it slightly. As she walked the halls the school bell rang signaling the end of the day to all the students. Kids raced out of classrooms quickly, nearly knocking the girl to her knees. Others, who had already been out of class stood still in fear of being trampled.

She got to her locker after some hustle and bustle and wasn't surprised to find the two boys she had labelled 'creeps' earlier, approaching Max as she rooted around in her locker.

They began talking and Fria minded her own business, hiding behind her locker door. She sniggered when Max called the pair  stalkers when they approached and had introduced themselves.

"you're new here, so you probably don't have any friends to take you Trick-or-Treating-"Dustin tried to debate which was totally out of context to Fria.

The next thing Fria knew she was being pulled by Max to stand beside her after some sort of interaction with the boys.

"Fria here is my friend," Max said to the boys. "arent your Fri?"

The girl was momentarily perplexed. She had only spoken with the redhead the day before yesterday. None the less she went along with her antics.

"uh yeah, best friends forever" she laughed.

Lucas and Dustin's eyes widened just slightly at the sight of Fria but nobody caught a glimpse of the incident.

"w-well you're scared of bullies, yeah, so we were thinking that it would be okay if you-if you both actually, come with us."

"It'd be okay?" Max remarked.

"Yeah. our party's a democracy and the majority voted you could come" He answered.

"I didn't realize it was such an honour to go trick-or-treating with you." The redhead said sarcastically and Fria giggled.

"We know where to get the full-sized candy bars." the two said but at slightly different times. "we figured you'd want in" Dustin smiled.

"That's presumptuous of you" Max mumbled.

Both of the boys paused for a hot minute, trying to comprehend what 'presumptuous' meant.

"Yeah. Totally. Uh, so um..... You'll come?"

Max rolled her eyes and shut her locker. She grabbed Fria's arm and pulled her away down the hallway.

"we're meeting at the Maple Street cul-de-sac at 7:00" Dustin called after the two girls. "That's seven on the dot!"

She and Max turned a corner and the redhead burst out laughing. "aw God" she laughed. "so we meeting with the creeps at 7:00 or what?"

Fria thought of this as a chance for her to widen her friend group so she agreed.

"yes! Can't wait to scare the living shits out of them!"

They parted ways and the girl went in search of her brother. She found him in the science room, talking to Mr.Clarke about joining AV. she pulled him out of the room so they wouldn't be late for their bus.

"guess what?" she asked him.

"what?" he asked sourly, mad that she had interrupted his mini-meeting.

"we're going trick-or-treating"
