A dab of foundation on our wrists should do the trick, Fria thought to herself as she stared at the convenient stores counter-displays. She grabbed the lightest shade off the shop' counter when none of the staff were looking and slyly slid the glass bottle into her jeans pocket. She'd done this many times before and only twice had She ever gotten caught. The blonde girl matched with prominent blue eyes marched over to her twin who was located around the corner of the aisle. He had a short mane of curls atop his head and a fascinatingly sharp jawline. Joseph was extremely tall and thin, a trait that hadn't completely passed on to Fria. Unlike her brother, she was notably shorter, though neither of the two lost any brownie points when it came to weight, both being around the same.

"Joey, come on, we gotta go," she said through clenched teeth attempting to be discreet. Her brother spotted the protruding objects poking out from her pocket and immediately understood her quietness. His twin was usually very loud and if engrossed in a conversation enough would probably never stop speaking. Joey normally left the stealing to his sister since she was better at it and her morals were slightly lesser than his.

They walked to the storefront acting as normal as they possibly could in front of the many wandering eyes. Neither spoke a word nor looked ay each other until they reached the car lot where they burst into a fit of giggles.

"They were so clueless" Fria managed to squeeze between breath intake.

"Yeah, I know" Joseph breathed back heavily. "But did we really need the foundation?"

"Yes, I'm not having another adult ask me 'what does a young pretty girl like you need a tattoo for'" she stated, mocking the multitude of adults who had spoken those exact word to her and (genders reversed) her brother.

"Okay hit me" he replied extending out his arm towards his sister. She took his arm to steady it and popped off the lid of the bottle. She dabbed a small amount across a faded tattoo that read the words 004 and did the same to her's which read 003. It covered the twos wrists enough so that only if you looked real close could you see the faint outline of the numbers.

"That should do it," she said admiring her quick work. "I don't think it'll smudge"

"Hmm, that's what you said last time" Joey retorted remembering another incident. The twins had bought a cheap dollar store concealer that had completely ruined their battered hoodies and Joseph had never forgiven Fria for the accident. It had been his favourite thing to wear, actually the most expensive thing he had owned at the time.

"Oh yeah, sorry"

He stayed silent but then put on a jokingly pouty face that made them both burst out laughing for the second time in the lot. "We should probably get going, we're going to miss out buss" she warned.

"Good idea"

The kids had been staying with a foster family in Hawkins. A quiet one, really nice just not much fun. Fria and Joey had been tossed from family to family for the past year and a half like rag dolls and had finally officially settled down with the Holland's. The Holland's daughter Barbra had gone missing just the year previous and was never found. Their chopping mechanism was to help those in other unfortunate circumstances, so that's how the Moore's had ended up starting Hawkins middle school that October.

The two walked to a deserted bus stop, the same one the Holland's had started crying at when the couple had shown them a picture of Barbara on her first day going to school. There were no seats, just a towering yellow pole with the word bus stop written at the top in big red writing,

When it pulled up beside them they went the closest to the back they could get while keeping their heads down so the other students didn't shout something similar to 'oh look it's some new kids'. Talking two seats one row from the back, Joey pulled out a giant encyclopedia from his old bag, dropped it onto his lap and started to read undisturbed. Fria on the other hand was beside the window, she just staring out aimlessly catching glimpses of the historical monuments, Hawkins High school and trees , lots of trees.

It pulled into their new school building where the two would be starting their first month of eighth grade. The bus parked and the doors swung open allowing all the students a chance to get off. The twins grabbed their belongings slowly, intending to be the last of the vehicle. The crowd eventually cleared rewarding a smooth exit to the patient pair.

They thanked the bus driver and swung their dirty looking rucksacks onto their backs.

"New school, whatcha think?" The girl asked her brother.

"It looks cool, hopefully, theirs an AV club or a debating team I could join" he pondered aloud.

Joseph was extremely smart. The blonde-haired girl had even stated that he could have rivalled Einstein. Which was true the boy was gifted beyond comprehension, They both were.

"I just want to have a friend group that isn't just you"

"Way harsh Fri"

They shuffled through the halls spotting many unfamiliar faces and eyes that were following their movements. Fria whipped out her timetable which was printed on a whitherd piece of paper. science with Mr.Clarke. Not too bad.

The Holland's had paid the book rental but that was about as much as the care system had given the small family and neither Fria nor Joseph expected the grieving couple to take money out of their own pockets to pay for their worthless educations. Besides Joey already knew every maths equation, every English poem and even knew Latin phrases off by heart. Why did his twin also need to learn the same when they were always going to be together.

Another teacher caught up to them walking alongside an angry-looking redhead carrying a skateboard.

"You were supposed to wait at the office so we could show you to your classes," he said to the twins.

"Oh sir, it's fine we had our timetables it was easy enough" Joseph replied smartly.

They walked into the science classroom where Mr.Clark was mid-lesson. A loud pop of gum from a girl in the back of the class snapped everyone's attention away from what the teacher was saying and onto the three unfamiliar people that had just walked into their class.

"Ah, theses must be our new students," he said enthusiastically. "Indeed it is"

The redhead in front of them went straight to sit down while the two stood awkwardly behind. "Ah no you don't get away that easily, don't be shy," Mr.Clarke said to the girl before she could take a seat.

"Dustin drum roll please"he Said pointing at a kid sitting near the front wearing a white red and blue hat. After the teacher's instruction, Dustin put away whatever he was fidgeting with and began to smack the desk rapidly.

"Class please welcome, the latest passengers to join us curiosity voyage!, Maxine, Joseph and Freya!" After the man called out each of their names there were a few quick words muttered from each.

"It's Fria"

"It's Joey"

"It's Max"

"Sorry?" he asked genuinely confused.

"It's max, nobody calls me Maxine, it's Max" she muttered monotonously the twins deciding not to elaborate on the subject any further.

"Well, all aboard!"

She took a seat near the very back while Fria and Joey took some to the right of her so they were beside one another. As the three new students sat, four boys in a square at the front of the classes heads followed all their movements to where they sat.

Fria took out some of her used stationery to share with her brother and they both began their 'curiosity voyage'
