Namjoon struggled briefly in the mans hold, but stopped when the click of the safety being turned off on the gun sounded.
"Please," he begged, terrified of being shot. "This is a suicide mission! Please just think about it! They have the house surrounded and know you killed your wife- they have the right to shoot to kill! Even with a hostage you can't hope to win here! Just turn yourself in, it might even help your sentence be reduced!"
"I'm not fucking turning myself in. That's why you're my human shield, kid." Holden dug the barrel of the gun painfully against the boys head.
Namjoon bit back a cry and struggled to calm down. "And then what? If you manage to strike up a deal with them, they'll never adhere to it. They'll find a way to backstab you the moment I'm free."
"Then I guess you won't ever be free."
A sudden pounding on the door.
"Holden Saint Germaine!" A loud voice shouted. "Let the boy go and come out with your hands up!"
"Now!" Added another voice. "Or we start shooting!"
"No, don't!" Namjoon screamed.
Holden chuckled, and Namjoon was genuinely shocked that the man could find a way to laugh in this situation.
"Kim Namjoon?" The first voice called.
"Don't shoot!" Namjoon cried. "He's got a gun- he'll kill me and then himself!"
Holden scowled, tightening his hold on the boy. "How did you know I was planning that."
"Namjoon, this is detective Kim Seokjin talking, and my partner Jeon Jungkook is here too. We've been looking for you for a while now, and we're going to get you out." The voice said calmly.
Tears welled up in the porn stars eyes. "Where's Yoongi?"
"We got him," the other voice chimed in. "We picked him up from school yesterday, and now he's h-"
A few mumbled words that Namjoon couldn't quite make out and then the other voice spoke up again.
"Yoongi helped us find you. Now can you tell us what the situation is inside? Where is Holden?" Seokjin asked.
"He-"
A hand pressed down tightly over the boys mouth, muffling his words.
"Shut up." Holden snapped. "You've said enough."
"Let him go!" Seokjin demanded through the locked door. "This entire place is surrounded- you have no where to go other than to turn yourself in."
"You have no where to go either, detective pretty boy." Holden called. "The moment one of you barge in here, I shoot the brat in the head!"
Namjoon closed his eyes as a tear ran down his cheek.
While the adults screamed at each other over his head, the only thing he could do was focus on the fact Yoongi was safe.
Yoongi was safe, Yoongi was safe...
-
Yoongi screamed as the cop car bounced over the uneven dirt ground, throwing up plumes of dust.
He didn't know how to turn on the windshield wipers, so he was semi blind as the car barreled straight ahead.
The radio crackled, dispatch demanding he pull over and stop the car.
"I'm sorry!" He screamed, not sure if anyone could hear him. He could only hope he didn't accidentally run anyone over, or get arrested for doing this.
Trying to get a grip, Yoongi tightened his hands on the steering wheel and turned it slightly so that he was heading right for the small house.
-
"Now what?" Jungkook whisper-hissed to Seokjin, keeping his weapons trained on the front door. "We don't have eyes on him- we can't snipe his ass. Do you really think he'll shoot Namjoon if we bust this door down?"
"He did just kill his wife." Seokjin reminded him. He glanced around at the officers surrounding the house, all weapons trained and waiting in tense silence for orders. He holstered his weapon.
"What are you doing?!" Jungkook nearly shrieked. "He'll no doubt kill you on sight!"
"Cover me." Seokjin whispered. Addressing the door, he said, "You're right, Holden. We don't want anything to happen to the kid, so we're willing to bargain. Can I come in so we can talk? I've put my weapon away."
"Yeah, right!" The man shouted back. "You're just gunna shoot me the moment I open this door!"
"Damn fucking right." Jungkook muttered, tightening his grip on the weapon.
"Back up." Seokjin ordered him. "Off the steps, go to the drive way. Tell everyone to take one big step back."
"Jin-"
"Now, Jungkook."
"No!" Jungkook glared. "It's a fucking trap!"
"That's an order." Seokjin gazed sternly.
Jungkook glared at him for a few tense moments, before finally stepping back. He pulled out his radio. "Everyone back off." He muttered into it, clearly displeased.
The surrounding officers looked confused, but dutifully took a step away from the house.
"Come see for yourself." Seokijn called to Holden, holding his hands up in surrender. "I just want to talk."
Jungkook was furious as he watched his best friend give himself up to a psychopath. "Jinnie, seriously-"
The door opened.
-
"Go open the door." Holden released Namjoon. "Make sure he's telling the truth." He jabbed the boys back with the gun. "And don't try anything stupid."
Namjoon stumbled, heart pounding fearfully as he walked unsteadily towards the door. He glanced over his shoulder at the man, and Holden glared, pointing the gun at him in response.
Embarrassed to still just be in his underwear, Namjoon unlocked the door and slowly turned the handle with his bound hands.
The bright sunlight stung his eyes and he winced, feeling the slight breeze ruffle his hair.
A man stood in front of him, his hands raised. He was slightly taller than Namjoon, and extremely handsome.
"Namjoon..." The detective breathed, eyes slightly wide as he finally came face to face with moonchild.
The boy was thin, trembling in his underwear. His hair was messed up and his skin looked dirty, splattered with dried blood. The boys eyes were dark and fear filled, his wrists tied together by a belt.
"What are you waiting for?" Holden snapped. "Get inside and shut the fucking door!"
Seokjin calmly stepped inside, and Namjoon reluctantly closed the door behind him. The urge to run out was overwhelming, but then Seokjin would surely be shot, and Namjoon already had one death on his conscious.
"Lock the door." Holden ordered. "And you," he swiveled the gun around to point at the detective. "Have a seat."
Namjoon sadly locked the door, watching as Seokjin sat down a chair that Holden had brought over from the kitchen.
Seokjin sat down smoothly, crossing his long legs. "Nice to finally meet you."
"Mhm." Holden scowled and waved the gun at Namjoon. "Come here."
The boy dutifully walked back, trying to stand a foot away from the man, but Holden grabbed a handful of Namjoon's hair and yanked him close, keeping the gun pointed at the detective.
"That's not needed." Seokjin narrowed his eyes. "You can let him go."
"So he can run right to your muscle bunny out there and leave me without any leverage?" Holden scoffed. "Yeah right."
"I told you I'm here to talk." Seokjin leaned back in his chair. "So let's talk."
"The kid is mine." Holden hissed, pulling Namjoon tighter against him. "You already took Yoongi from me, you're not getting my prized possession too."
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. "You can't expect to make a deal without giving us Namjoon. If you let him go, unharmed, I'll tell the D.A. you cooperated."
"Don't bullshit me." Holden snapped. "You won't even take me to court- you all want to shoot me right now."
"A lot of them out there do." Seokjin agreed. "All of them, in fact. But I'm a little more level headed here- that's why I'm the one in charge. And I want to do whatever I can to reunite Namjoon with his family. That's why I'm willing to see what we can do to make you happy."
Namjoon was nervous as he watched the two men talk. He didn't want anything to happen to the brave detective. But what could he do? Weak, tied up, exhausted, starving- he was a useless liability.
"I'll be happy when you bastards back off and get away from my property." Holden growled. "Then we can talk."
"Afraid I can't do that." Seokjin shook his head. "The law, and all that. But if you give us Namjoon, I can give you a one way ticket to any country of your choice."
"Do you think I'm fucking stupid?" Holden shouted, jamming the gun against Namjoon's head. "You're bullshitting me! You'll never give me that, and even if you did- you would just have your people arrest me at the airport!"
"We can get you a ticket to a non-extraction country." Seokjin continued calmly. "You don't need to hurt Namjo-"
"That still doesn't solve anything!" Holden was screaming and Namjoon winced at the volume. "You know what- fuck you! I'm not making deals with people I can't trust."
"You have a new plan?" The detective raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah." Holden shoved Namjoon over, and Seokjin was out of the seat in a second, quickly righting the boy before he could fall.
The detective's eyes were full of worry as he grabbed Namjoon's shoulders, quickly wrapping his arms around him to shield him from Holden.
"New plan, you two cover me as we walk out of here and into one of your cop cars." Holden said. "Then I drive wherever I please, with two hostages."
"That won't work." Seokjin tried not to glare as the man advanced, holding Namjoon tighter. He could feel the boys heart pounding from where their chests were pressed together. Namjoon was trembling, and buried his face in the detective's chest. "There are trackers in every vehicle, you'll have cops on your ass wherever you go. Just calm down and we can talk until we find a solution that works for everyone."
"Jin!" Came Jungkook's voice. "What's going on in there?"
"Then shoot the tracker and tell all your buddies not to chase us." Holden growled. He reached out and grabbed Namjoon's neck, attempting to yank the boy back.
Seokjin refused to let go, especially after hearing Namjoon's pitiful cry. "I'm telling you- that's not a viable plan."
"Seokjin!" Jungkook yelled again, anxiety making him nervous.
"Give him." Holden demanded, tightening his grip until Namjoon was choking and Seokjin was forced to release him. "We're doing my plan, and if you want the kid to be alright, you better find a way to make it work."
Seokjin ground his teeth together, trying to push down a wave of angry disgust at this man. "I'll need time. And I'll have to talk to my partner."
"Better hurry." Holden hummed, tilting Namjoon's jaw up so he could kiss the boy.
Seokjin's hands curled into fists. "Leave him alone. Or I won't help you."
"Then don't help." Holden said simply. "I'll shoot the boy and myself if that's what it'll come down to."
God, Seokjin wanted to personally hold this man under a bathtub full of acid.
"At least let him eat something, he looks sick." Seokjin bargained. "I can have any food you want delivered here in ten minutes."
"Now you're saying what I want to hear." Holden grinned.
"Damnit Jin! I'm coming in there in two fucking seconds if you don't-"
"I'm fine- Kook!" Seokjin shouted. "Stand down!"
Holden chuckled. "Tell your trigger happy friend to suck it."
"If you untie Namjoon, I can have them bring us a first aid kit too." Seokjin said, ignoring how much he hated this guy.
"I don't care about that." The man waved the gun flippantly.
The detective looked at Namjoon's wrists, which were red. "You'll care once he gets an infection."
"He won't die from it."
Seokjin blew out a frustrated breath. "He could. Plus the area won't look so sexy when it's all red and bruised."
"Whatever." Holden shrugged.
Before Seokjin could try to bargain some more, Jungkook suddenly shouted.
"I said stand down!" Seokjin snapped loudly. "I-"
The door burst open and Jungkook raced in, eyes wide.
"What the-"
"Get out!" Jungkook yelled. "Get out of the way!"
Before anyone could ask why, a car suddenly slammed through the house.
