POV Eugene
I still can't believe this, not after two days. The first mission of ours was disaster, I had nightmares for a week. Well, then Elsa came back to our squad but she wasn't alone. It was like we were walking in the middle of bomb field. The bomb field I'm referring to are our Captain's nerves.
Yeah, that's right. Our squad got a new member. Colonel Moon said that it is only for some limited time and I hope that time runs out fast. Now our Captain is about to pop out a vein from his forehead while he is trying to teach the newcomer and not to explode like a nuke.
"For fucks sake Arendelle, put the safety on when you throw that rifle on your shoulder," Captain flinched as the guns barrel pointed at him for few seconds.
"Alrighty then!" She giggled and took the gun from her shoulder again. This time me and Hiro had to jump to lay down. And not a moment too soon, she accidentally fired her weapon.
"Are you trying to kill someone!" Captain Frost shouted. He had used his ice power to stop the bullet by creating some wind against its direction.
"Oops?" She grinned and shrugged her shoulders. Then she narrowed her eyes, "I'm just making sure that nothing wrong happens again."
"I apologize for my sister," Elsa ran to face the Captain. She had taken the lead with Hiccup. We were running in pairs, Captain paired with Elsa's sister. A girl with strawberry blonde hair and bubbly, cheerful attitude.
Captain rubbed his forehead and sighed. "Twenty pushups everyone. Then go to eat something," he mumbled and left.
"Don't you find it interesting that Elsa's sister got into a squad of soldiers? I doubt it's just because they are richer," Hiro whispered to my ear.
"To be honest... nothing surprises me after dealing with that black sand," I mumbled.
"I don't know what you complained Elsa! This is some nice exercise!" Anna laughed and was doing her pushups. Her hair was tied into double braids.
"Ngh, I didn't complain about this... you know," Elsa muttered. She was struggling because her wounds were still healing.
"Oh yeah, you were complaining about that Captain of yours," Anna said in somewhat teasing manner.
"Our Captain," Elsa groaned and did the last push up.
"Let's head to eat," Hiro cheered after getting his pushups done.
The Mess barrack was really crowded so we ate fast to give room for other people. I parted ways with Hiro afterwards. He was going to meet up with GoGo but I needed to lay down for a moment. That's what you get from eating yourself too full.
I glance up when snowflakes began to slowly rain down. There's something beautiful in the sight, it's like everything stops as the flake gently floats down. But it's freaking cold so I need to lift up my collar.
It is dark and only the lamp posts give light in the outside. I just passed the barrack where our showers are when I noticed something moving near Captain's barrack. After taking a closer look a smile spread to my face.
"Hey! Rapunzel!" I called her. She was trying to stand on her toes and peek inside from the window. I approached her and her eyes widened, she hushed me quickly. Strange.
"What are you doing?" I asked while nodding towards the barrack.
"I saw Elsa going in with Anna. I got curious, why would they go in there?" She asked curiously.
I shrugged, "Maybe because Anna was messing up our practice. Elsa gets preaching because of it?"
Then I sighed and continued, "To be honest I have no idea but nothing good probably. Why are you so interested anyway?"
Punzie frowned, "Because she is my friend." She snapped and sounded irritated.
"Hey, I'm sorry that I couldn't help you more. Anyway what brought you here?" I grinned.
She began gaggling and looks around nervously. Then she curls her hair around her finger and flashes a smile, "I wanted to see you. Maybe we could go together to see Maximus and Pascal?"
Just when I was about to respond someone was coming out from Captain's barrack. That's when Punzie threw me to the side of the building, causing me to fall my butt first into the snow. She landed on me.
"Why are we hiding?" I whispered but she put her hand over my mouth.
"See you tomorrow!" Anna shouted cheerfully before closing the door.
Tomorrow? It's Saturday and it means free day. Kind of odd. We saw how Elsa and Anna headed to our barrack. Anna was babbling to Elsa about something and being ecstatic, Elsa on the other hand seemed a bit off.
"Okay, I got to go now," Punzie announced when the route was clear. I turn to look at her again and I raise my eyebrow.
"Umm... what about going to see our dogs?" I questioned.
"I just remembered that I promised to brush Merida's hair and it will take ages. See you later sweetie," she whispered and kissed my cheek. She helped me back up.
"Oh... well I was heading to rest anyway. So how about tomorrow? Then I'm free and at the base and could go to train our dogs together," I suggested.
She shook her head, "I'm going off for weekend. I'm being picked up tomorrow so Monday is better. Deal?" She smiled innocently and I nodded my head.
Then she left to her barrack and I went into mine. Elsa and Anna paused their speech for a moment when they noticed me at the door. However they greeted me immediately.
"Don't mind me, I'm going to lay down for a while. A time for a nap!" I stated when I jumped to my bunk. I stretched and folded my arms behind my neck. Then I closed my eyes.
A moment later they broke the silence again. It was a bit awkward though, like they were coming up with something to talk about. I guess I interrupted something when I came here.
POV Jack
I didn't imagine my Saturday be like this. It has been couple years since I went to home like I'm doing now. Uncomfortable feeling is taking over me, I haven't been able to face my mother after Emma's death. Nonetheless my brother.
"Ah, Captain Overland. Where are you heading?" Phoebus asked. He was standing at the gate and guarding it.
"Home," I replied while signing myself out. I notice how a smile spreads on his face. "What's so funny?" I mumbled as I passed the notebook back to him.
"Well it's about the damn time sir!" He cheered. I just returned him with a sigh as I walk out, I wave my hand to him while I'm walking away.
My feet feel heavier on each step and I'm beginning to regret this. However my mother was surprised and she nearly screamed when I told her that I'm coming home for dinner and...
"Hey bedwarmer!" I heard a shout coming from behind a tree. I turn around and my cheeks heat up.
Anna came out from behind the tree. "We were thinking that you're not coming," Anna smirked. She was wearing a light green knee high dress and a jacket.
"First of all I'm not a bedwarmer besides... I don't see anyone with you," I reply sarcastically.
"Elsa! Come out," Anna groaned and began pulling someone from behind the tree. Then she popped out.
My eyes examine her, she's not wearing a jacket or coat. Her shoulders are open, her dress doesn't have any straps. It has a heartshaped neckline, the hem ends just beneath her knees. Her dress has some crystals embedded to some places.
"Light blue suits you," I told her. It made her blush immediately, she ran her hand nervously down of her French braid.
"Okay escort, it's ice blue. Not light blue," Anna stated out and was pushing Elsa towards me. Their feet were sinking into the snow and they hopped to the street where I was standing.
"Whatever but don't call me escort," I complained when I began walking again.
"Does your mother know that we are coming?" Elsa asked.
"She knows that I'm bringing couple guests," I told to her.
We walked the rest of the way in silence. I took the steps of my home porch, I've done it thousands times before but never has it been this hard. I barely managed to knock the door when my mother slammed it open. My eyes widened from shock when I saw her, she seemed so tired and sad but yet happy.
"Mom," I began but she rushed in for an embrace. She held me so tightly that I was afraid that she's going to strangle me but I just hugged her back instead of saying anything.
"Hello Miss Overland," Anna said politely. That's when my mother let go and gathered herself by clearing her throat. She had been about to burst into tears.
"It's Mrs Overland. And who are you?" Mother said wondering aloud.
"Mrs?" Anna wondered. "Oh! My name is Anna Arendelle," she giggled.
"She is married to Colonel Moon," Elsa spoke aloud. God this is going to be an awkward evening.
"Elsa? Shawn is not home yet, he will join us for dessert," My mother smiled. I was about to say something but Anna was faster.
"Elsa is my sister. Your son wanted to show us his place. He and Elsa are partners in missions you know," Anna grinned. The word mission made my mother sigh sadly.
The dinner was ready short after us getting in. I took off my green jacket with honor medals and stripes that show my military rank.
"I hope everyone enjoys--," mother began, "-I did my best for this evening."
I look at the table while we're eating. For some reason there was a whole turkey, as well as some foods that I normally combine with either Christmas or Thanksgiving.
"It's like a feast! And so good," Anna laughed. Mom was sitting on the opposite side of me, on her right was Anna. Elsa was on my left and I glance at her quickly.
"Yes, because my son has missed so many celebrations," mother sighed and began sobbing.
"Mom, I'm sorry," I pleaded.
"Gosh you're one harsh bedwarmer," Anna gasped. That made me mad and I stood up from the table quickly.
"Don't call me that," I snapped at her.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Overland," Elsa said quickly. "Maybe it's best to leave Anna," Elsa spoke to her sister. I saw her giving her a mental preaching without words.
"Well how about escort," Anna mumbled.
"Stop," I raised my voice.
"Jack. What's going on," mother asked. Her voice made me open up my clenched fists and inhale deeply, she had just seen my anger. Something she hasn't seen before and it seemed to scare her.
"S-she... uh...," I gulped as I sat back down. Then I breathed in deeply, everyone was staring. "Elsa... uh I'm.. her... her," I tried to say.
"Bedwarmer," Anna whispered and made my mother frown.
"Shut up! She's my girlfriend," I groaned angrily.
"Jackson, I didn't know that you like girls. I thought that you're more into --," mother gasped in surprise.
I began coughing and staring at her, "Mom! What the heck!" I shouted.
"This is the best kind of comedy," Anna giggled and I gave her a glare.
"I... think that I need to go into bathroom," Elsa whispered and got up.
"Please use the one in upstairs. We have slight renovation going on in downstairs. Do you like fudge?" Mother asked and began collecting our plates.
"I like chocolate more," Elsa smiled and left the dining room.
"Oh my goodness," mother gulped after Elsa left.
"What now? I never was gay... you know," I mumbled. It made Anna burst into laughter that she poorly muffled with her hand.
"No I didn't mean that. I had some fudge filled pie as dessert. Well, since it's my new daughter-in-law I better do some chocolate cake!" She cheered and got up.
"You shouldn't bother. Elsa will eat anything sweet," Anna grinned while helping my mother get the stuff out from table.
"I really want to do this," mother smiled and I sighed.
"I will help," Anna said politely and my mother thanked her. I brought the rest of the things to kitchen.
They were already doing the batter and ignoring my presence. I just silently went to the sink and began rinsing the dishes. Then I washed them all, dried them up and put them back into place. Being at home again feels so weird.
"Jack," mother called when I sat behind the small breakfast table in the kitchen. I watch how she wipes the flour from her hands to her apron.
"Yeah?" I asked. The smells from the kitchen remind me of my childhood, how we anxiously waited for her to finish baking and to get some taste of the batter from the nearly empty bowls.
"Hasn't Elsa come back downstairs yet?" She asked. I shrugged and got to the kitchen door.
I look out and I don't see her in the dining room. "She's not in dining room," I told to them.
After checking up the living room I went to tell them that Elsa is probably still upstairs.
"Well go and check on her," mother urged and I rolled my eyes. Then she went back to baking with Anna.
"How long until that cake is done?" I demanded to know. The sooner this torture is over the better.
"One hour. We can handle this!" Anna cheered. I saw her chopping chocolate with a knife so I decided to back up quickly. She had a lunatic look on her face.
I headed to the staircase, I climb the stairs up and towards the bathroom. "Maybe she fell on the bathroom and hit her head," I muttered.
The bathroom was however empty when I peeked inside. But my old room had some light coming out and when I got closer I noticed that the door was slightly open. I sneaked closer and I peek inside.
There she was, standing near my book case and looking at something in her hands. She was cheerfully humming some tone. I went inside quietly and I sat on the couch on the opposite side of the book case. So far she hasn't seen me, I lay back and watch her back. The covers of that book she's holding, I know them.
"What the heck, are you sniffing around," I snapped angrily.
It made her yelp and drop the album to the floor. Some pictures scattered over the floor. She turned around quickly and when she met my stare, she rushed to the door and repeating the words of being sorry.
That's when I slammed the door shut with my powers over wind, then I froze it still. She turned to face me again. She was breathing in shallow manner.
"Well, what are you going to do now? The door is...bit stuck," I laughed sarcastically. My right arm went to rest over the back rest and my left hand over the armrest. Then I lifted my other leg over other and gave her a devious smile.
"I didn't mean to come here," she whispered and held her hands together over her chest.
"But you came and were going through my stuff. Gosh you're naughty," I scolded her. It seems that she isn't going to unfreeze the door.
"I just wanted to know more about you," she gulped and her eyes were watering.
"Come here," I ordered. Slowly she walked closer and when she was close enough I pulled her to the couch with me. I locked her to lay on the couch, half in my lap. Her back was against my chest and I was holding her down.
"Captain, I'm so sorry that Anna made you invite us here and then we embarrassed you in front of your mother," she said with her voice shivering.
I leaned my head next to hers. Then I inhaled her sweet scent and I began speaking slowly and quietly. My voice was vibrating while I spoke to her, her presence was making me feel dizzy.
"Call me Jack when we're alone... I'm your bedwarmer," I mumbled and my hand was sliding against her leg and up, beneath the hem of her skirt. It made her breath faster and lean tightly against me.
"Also... I'm your boyfriend in secret," I said before nipping her earlope with my teeth gently. Her body tensed into arch and she squeezed my leg when I rubbed her inner thigh.
Her movement made me moan a bit, her hand began going between us. Right towards my groin, I closed my eyes and my hand was slipping towards her bottom. Her gentle pleading of having me inside her, it nearly got me. I pushed my groin towards her, I felt her hand on my zipper and my heartbeat increased.
Suddenly someone knocked my door and we both quickly pulled our hands away.
"We just got the cake into oven. Will you join us watching television?" Mother asked behind the door. She just tried to open it but it was frozen thankfully.
I cleared my throat, "I'll show her some stuff in my room. We'll come for dessert."
"Alright. Shawn will arrive then too," she said. Then I heard her getting away from the door, I sighed from relief.
Elsa turned around and sat on my lap. Her cheeks were pink and her eyes were lustful when she looks at me. "I would like something in the oven too," she whispered to my ear and told me to close my eyes.
I shook my head and smile to her. "Maybe later tonight... not in my house though," I said quietly while playing with strand of her hair that was hanging free on her forehead.
"Okay," she whispered and gave a smile. She leaned in and pressed her lips against mine, her bust pressed against my chest. She dug her hands into my hair and kissed me. It felt like heaven, like sparks were going through my body and setting it to fire.
We were breathing heavily when we separated. She snuggled against me, got a comfortable position on my lap. Our legs were on the couch and she was laying on top of me with her back against my chest again.
I glance at the photo album again. Then I waved my hand and the album itself as well as the pictures flew to my hands. Elsa looks at me curiously.
"So you want to know me better," I mumbled while opening up the book.
"Of course, I mean... I love you," she stated.
"Loving me is something that you shouldn't do. I shouldn't address myself as your boyfriend but I guess that I lost the last strand of my insanity after meeting you," I sighed.
"But I do," she insisted while turning the pages of the photo album.
"Will you love me no matter what, that's what I wanted to ask back there at the tree," I said quietly.
"Why wouldn't I love you until the end?" She said immediately. I had to swallow the lumpy feeling, her words made me nervous and my heart to beat painfully.
"That's my brother and I ," I changed the subject as I pointed up a picture. I was battling with wooden swords with Shawn.
"Do you love me Jack?" She asked insecurely.
"I can't respond to that... I don't... know. However I'm yours but you should consider... Someone who can be what you need them to be. A lover, husband, father... You should know that I'm ready to die for a cause," I explained.
"What cause?" She demanded to know. Her insecurities faded away, now I felt like I was speaking with the real Queen she is. Noble and secure.
"Revenge over my sister's death," I replied quickly.
"I see but you should think that your life doesn't end to that moment. There's something you should live for," she whispered and turned other page. She paused there.
"That's my mom... expecting me and Shawn, we were almost due on that day," I smiled a bit.
I notice how her hand goes over her abdomen and she blushed. I frowned, "Have you forgotten to tell me something?" I insisted as I place my hand over hers.
Quickly she pulled her hand away and cleared her throat. Her face was deep red. "N-no. I was just thinking how it feel like when I expect your child," she said and sounded unfocused.
"My child? Why would I have a child with you?" I snapped. Her words worried me, my hand was pressing on her abdomen and I felt frightened. She doesn't realize the curse in my family. How we get twins as our firstborns but usually only one survives.
She laughed nervously. "Well I didn't mean to say it that way. Maybe it's because I just realized that we're actually dating. In secret though," she said and I heard the smiling of hers in her voice. She sounded happy.
"I'm not pregnant," she continued quickly when she got up. She straightened the fabric of her dress.
I grinned and before she could do anything I used the wind to blow underneath the hem of her dress. It lifted into air and she was gasping while trying to push it back down.
"That's not nice," she groaned. While she was struggling with her dress I got up from the couch.
I used the opportunity to pin her against the wall. She was breathing heavily.
"I'm not nice, I never was. I might be asshole now but before... I was a jester, which you're going to see quite soon I think. You're making me feel strange My Queen," I told to her before giving her a kiss. She relaxed soon.
"My Guardian, that's how I feel too when it comes to you," she smiled and brushed her fingers through my hair.
"Demon... that's what I am and you're an angel compared to me," I mumbled.
"Jack... I once thought that I'm a monster but people like my sister made me feel different. That's how you will feel too soon," she said gently and shut me into embrace.
I exhaled deeply as I folded my arms around her.
You make me feel different, that's what I wanted to tell her but I couldn't.
Moment later I heard Shawn calling at my door. I let go of Elsa and then I unfroze the door.
"Come in," I told to Shawn. He came inside my room, glanced at me and Elsa quickly.
"Mom just finished the dessert," Shawn told us.
"You go ahead Elsa. I need to speak with my brother like you told me to do," I gulped.
Then she left, leaving me to deal with my older brother alone. He sat to my couch, crossed his arms. His eyes were peeling into my soul as he waited for my explanation. Explanation of how I lied, how I pushed him and everyone out.
And I told him everything. He didn't even flinch when I told him what they made me to do with Emma, how she died by taking the bullet that was meant for me. I wanted him to shout or yell, to punch me but he did nothing.
"I screwed up Shawn," I sighed as I sat next to him. That was when he moved, wrapped his arms around my shoulders and hugged me.
"You did your best. Those bastards hurt you both and you shouldn't have been dealing with stuff like that alone," he whispered with his shivering voice.
My eyes felt hot and like I'm about to burst into tears. Something in what he said made me break.
"I'll get my revenge," I whispered and wiped away couple tears that came out.
"Don't get lost into something like that. We need the old Jack, that's how you can beat them. By being the person you were, show those assholes," he said and patted my back. He had a smile on his face.
"Thanks," I smiled back.
"Kiddo!" He chuckled and ruffled my hair. I slipped myself away from him.
"Hey! No touching," I groaned.
"You should hook up with that girl better," Shawn grinned and I frowned.
"Says the former ladies man. Let me deal with my relationships how I want... besides I'm her superior so it's complicated... uh... And she happens to be the Queen of Arendelle," I mumbled.
"Wait... did you say Queen?" Shawn gulped.
I nodded my head slowly. He just laughed and began ruffling my hair again. "Way to go!" He cheered.
"I'm not planning of marrying her," I announced angrily.
"Yeah yeah. Whatever... hey... better get going to eat some of that cake. If Anna is like Elsa... well, that chocolate cake just met its end," Shawn chuckled and pulled me up.
When we got into dining room mother was busy chatting and eating with Elsa and Anna. I shared a small moment changing eye contact with Elsa, she smiled when me and Shawn arrived to the room. She had been so sure that I should share the things with my brother. I guess she wasn't wrong.
