Chapter 15

Celeste felt numb. She had no idea what was happening. She felt her body moving, but she wasn't controlling it.

The voice had taken over unexpectedly, and it wouldn't stop cackling to her.

Her legs, moving out of her control, were taking her back to the room where she was before.

Nora was waiting and glanced up when Celeste walked in the room.

Celeste tried to move some sort of limb, but she couldn't. She tried to call out and warn Nora, but it was no use, her voice wouldn't work.

"Nora, you won't believe what happened!" Her voicebox spoke, and Celeste could hear the echo of her clone's voice in the back of her mind.

"What!?" Nora asked excitedly.

"I spoke to my mom through an Iris message, and she said in a few months I can go home!" The voice said giddily through her.

"What did I tell you? I'm so happy for you Celeste." Nora said, right before wrapping Celeste in a lung-crushing hug.

"Yeah, yeah, enough with the emotional gibber-jabber. I've got a point to prove." The voice said in a monotone.

"What do you m-" Nora was cut off in a gasp.

Celeste screamed in her head, banging and begging and pleading.

"You will listen to me Celeste. I have full power over you now and I will kill everyone and everything you love. Starting with this pity party Poseidon calls a palace." The voice hissed through Celeste's head. "But first, I'm gonna soak in your grieving. Have fun!"

Celeste felt the normal pressure in her body return and felt the grip of the knife in her hand and the feel of Nora's blood on her hands.

Celeste gasped, ripping out the knife and catching Nora before she fell.

Nora was gasping for air, staring at Celeste with a bright fear.

"Nora, Nora it's me. Celeste. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. This wasn't supposed to happen, I don't know what's happening. Why is this happening, no please. You can't die!" Celeste rambled, choking off in a horrible sob. This time, it wasn't a sob of happiness.

"Celeste..." A harsh cough. "Hey, it's alright. It's okay. Calm down." Nora rasped.

"Nora, please. I can't be responsible. I can't. Please..." Celeste trailed off, her face leaking tears that melted into the ocean water she was breathing.

Nora raised a trembling hand and stroked the side of Celeste's face. "You'll always be that cute little four-year-old to me."

Celeste shuddered in horror.

"I...I can be with Jacob...I see him Celeste. You can let go of me now." Nora whispered, her eyes lost in another world.

"Nora..." Celeste cried. "Don't leave me."

"Have a good life, Seaweed Brain." Nora said, before she exhaled and fell limp in Celeste's arms.

"Nora?" Celeste called meekly. She shook the mergirl by the shoulders, but their was no response. "Nora!"

Celeste collapsed into sobs. She pulled off her necklace and wrapped it around Nora's neck. "I'm sorry..." Celeste trailed off.

Then, her voice cackled in her brain. "Use your anger Celeste. Use the anger you have against me, for the death of your best friend. Use it!"

"LEAVE ME ALONE!!" Celeste screamed into silent air.

A rippled effect shot from her body and Celeste saw herself glowing gold and felt her body slowly slipping away.

"Yes...yes!" Her voice called.

Celeste screamed in agony as a piercing pain shot through her skull. She rose up and up and up until her hair was brushing the ceiling of the palace.

"Kayla!" Poseidon cried from below her. His hands were held high, ready to kill his daughter if he had to. "Enough! End this!"

"It's too late, old man! I have Celeste completely now! You should've listened to my sorry excuse for a mother, because now I'm going to kill everyone and I will have my revenge. This will teach you to abandon your daughter!" Kayla screamed through Celeste.

Celeste was writhing in pain, hurting too much to even register what was happening.

"Then I'm sorry!" Poseidon called. "I can't fix my relationship with you as a father, but I can stop you."

"Oh really!? How? You can't kill me, I'm practically invincible." Kayla laughed.

"You're right, I can't kill you. But I can stall you." Poseidon said.

Kayla narrowed Celeste's eyes. Then she screamed and shot her hands upwards.

The whole palace caved in, rock, marble, and the sea crashing in all around.

Poseidon snarled and used his godly powers to rise up and meet Celeste/Kayla face to face.

Kayla shot upwards towards the surface, and Poseidon followed.

Kayla landed Celeste on the beach and smirked at her father. She rose the waves high, holding them above the great city of New York and starting a hurricane-like storm that whipped her black curls everywhere.

"Kayla! Enough!" Poseidon cried, thinking of all the innocent mortals that his daughter was about to kill.

Celeste's mind, while still in constant pain went to Percy. He was in New York and Kayla was threatening to kill him.

Celeste screamed in her mind.

"Celeste, it's gone too far! I'm sorry. I have no choice!" Poseidon cried.

Celeste narrowed her eyes, gaining control of Kayla for a split second. "It's your fault! You brought me here! You and my mother! And now look at me! I killed everyone! I killed Nora! I blame you! Why didn't you kill me when you had the chance!?" Celeste screamed through the whipping winds, her emotions coming out.

"You are my daughter and you are powerful, but you don't have to use that power for evil." Poseidon cried.

Celeste's lost control again, but her eyes flickered back to green before quickly changing back to the dark abyss.

The clone, the voice, the girl, the demon inside of her was finally taking control.

Celeste felt her arms going numb again and her brain felt like it was being shoved backwards.

She became aware of not doing anything, yet her body kept continuing to move without her consent.

She tried to speak again, somehow maybe shove Kayla back again, but Kayla won the battle.

"Stop this father! I have total control of Celeste! She's mine! I have the combined powers of myself and this stupid little demigod girl! I can rule the world and kill the gods! I will be the ruler!" Kayla screamed.

An evil chuckle came out of Celeste's mouth and she began to panic.

She hadn't killed Nora, this clone had. This thing inside her had killed her best friend. She had to keep reminding herself that. She could fight Kayla.

Poseidon sighed and closed his eyes. "I'm sorry Celeste..."

His hand began to glow and he started to murmur something.

"What!? No! That's not possible! What are you doing!?" The clone cried from within Celeste, the storm growing more violent.

Celeste felt her body coming back, the pain fading and the clone's screams echoed in the back of her mind.

But something was wrong.

A strange sense creeped up Celeste's spine and she realized her father was doing something.

"Wait, Daddy, what are you doing?" Celeste screamed, her voice returning. Poseidon opened his eyes for a split second and stared at his daughter.
"You'll understand one day. Until then, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

Celeste felt the pure agony sensation return and crawl up her body.

She screamed.

Poseidon watched in abject horror as his daughter spasmed in pain and finally started to fade.

Her whole form was fading out of existence until finally their was nothing but air.

But Poseidon could still see her. He was the one, after all, who set the curse.

He knew one day Kayla would get powerful enough to break it, but he'd have to cross that bridge when it came.

Celeste fell limp and the storm died down as she tumbled toward the shore.

The mortals had evacuated, mistaking it for a freak storm.

Celeste groaned and rose from the sand.

She looked at her father who was staring at her in pity.

"What did you do to me?" Celeste asked.

Poseidon shook his head and began to glow.

Celeste cocked her head in confusion and the light shone brighter. She yelped and backed away.

Then he was gone.

She had no idea she should've been burned to ashes by the light.

Sighing, she stood up and decided to visit the one person she wanted to see the most at the moment.

Percy.

She scrambled up the beach and toward the apartment building. She opened the door, pressed the pass code, and opened the unlocked door.

Percy was asleep on the couch, a line of saliva falling down his chin.

He had grown so much.

Celeste smiled and sat down beside him, stroking his hair.

His eyes fluttered open and the startling sea green was revealed.

"Mom?" He mumbled.

Celeste smiled, wondering if Percy still didn't remember her. He'd probably call the cops, but she didn't care.

She'd rather spend a lifetime in jail then live without Percy.

He looked up at Celeste...and froze. His eyes widened and confusion appeared over his expression.

"Percy, listen, I can explain-" Celeste began.

But Percy seemed not to of heard her. He shook his head and stood up, not even noticing Celeste's presence.

"I could've sworn I felt something." He muttered to himself before walking into his bedroom.

Celeste blinked.

So that's what Poseidon had done to her. He Had cursed her. He had made her invisible.

Celeste broke down into a harsh fit of sobs.

Her Percy. Her brother. Never again.
Tears stained her whole face and she sniffled wiping her eyes.

"I'll never leave you again Percy. I promise." Celeste muttered dangerously.

Celeste knew in her heart, this was only the beginning...
